2013 Spatial Information Research Vol.21 No.3

The purpose of this study focuses on the development of the lightweight BIM shape format(LBSF) structure to present the large volume BIM geometry object based on GIS as the viewpoint of the building facility management. Recently, the BIM-based facility management with GIS is researching with the purpose of the urban facility management etc. To implement these use-cases, the BIM geometry objects can be visualized based on urban level with GIS effectively. To do this, the lightweight BIM shape format is designed with the considerations and the prototype for the pilot test is implemented. In the pilot test phase, after developing the IFC file and LBSF file about the model data of the three areas, the performance with the data volume, the screen loading time etc was compared.

      • Review of capacitive coupling human body communications based on digital transmission

2016 ICT Express Vol.2 No.4

Human body communications (HBC) have been studied as an enabling technology to meet the recently increased demands for low-power and high-simplicity in wireless body area networks for wearable-device applications. Previous works on HBC focused mainly on channel modeling with a measurement method, signal transmission scheme, and transceiver implementation. In particular, the digital transmission, invented as a customized approach for the human body channel, has contributed to develope low-complexity HBC systems. This paper addresses on-going research on capacitive coupling HBC based on digital transmission by exploring recent literature.

The Development Direction for a VDC Support System based on BIM

2015 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.19 No.6

A Building Information Modeling (BIM)-based Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) support system is required to satisfy project order requirements and productivity effectively during building design, construction, and operational phases using BIM technology. The present study defined the development direction that a BIM technology-based VDC support system should take. To achieve this goal, we determined the awareness level of the VDC support system of BIM specialists in Korea through a survey and performed an analysis based on the expected outcome, actual outcome, and hindrance factors. The result of the survey was analyzed statistically, and different viewpoints were assessed with a questionnaire according to the areas of expertise and the experience of the respondents. In addition, we analyzed comparisons with field cases and found significant differences in the expected outcome, actual outcome, and hindrance factors according to the areas of expertise and the experience of the respondents. Based on these results, we proposed a VDC support system and a roadmap and framework based on the VDC industry maturity model.

Transfer of Personal Information in a Corporate Structural Change

2017 Journal of Korean Law Vol.17 No.1

The legal framework of Korean data privacy law is built upon a system of strict application and enforcement of the notice and consent requirement. The emphasis on the data subjects’ right to self-determine the collection and processing of their personal information has its legal basis on the explicit right provided under the Koran Constitution and is thus an element which is distinguishable from the data privacy schemes of other countries. As such, unlike in the EU or the U.S., where the collection and processing of personal information are generally permitted upon either the finding of the data controller’s legitimate interest or the notice of sufficient information to data subjects, the Korean data privacy scheme requires, in principle, the explicit consent of the data subjects with respect to the collection and processing of personal information (including the transfer to or sharing of such information with third parties), except where the consent requirement is specifically exempted under the relevant laws. As illustrated in this paper, such statutory exceptions are the results of the legislative efforts to strike a balance between the data subjects’ constitutional right to self-determine processing their personal information against the need to facilitate commercial transactions in the rapidly changing business circumstances. One area where such exception is of particular relevance is in relation to the transfer of personal information in connection with corporate structural changes such as corporate mergers, business transfers and other similar corporate transactions, as stipulated under the relevant data privacy laws, namely Article 27 of the PIPA, Article 26 of the IT Network Act, and Article 32 of the Credit Information Act. From a practical standpoint, however, given the inherent limitations of such statutory provisions to provide for each and every instance where the exception may apply, determining the precise scope of the applicability of these exceptions poses certain practical challenges. Specifically, this paper focuses on the data privacy implications associated with corporate mergers, business transfers, asset sales and purchases, and corporate divestitures to arrive at the appropriate scope of applying Article 27 of the PIPA. The analyses contained in this paper reflect an attempt to find a reasonable ground for determining the scope of the applicability of these statutory exceptions to the consent requirement, taking into consideration the legal concepts relating to each of the foregoing types of corporate actions under the Korean Commercial Code and the legislative intent behind the enactment of such statutory exceptions, as well as the interpretations and views held by the relevant regulatory authorities on this subject matter. In recognition of the practical ramifications of applying these statutory exceptions to the consent requirement in the Korean data privacy context, this paper calls for the need for a more flexible application of such statutory exceptions in certain corporate structural changes.

2021 KIBIM Magazine Vol.11 No.2

Recently, starting with smart construction research, interest in technology that automates construction site management using artificial intelligence technology is increasing. In order to automate construction site management, it is necessary to recognize objects such as construction equipment or workers, and automatically analyze the relationship between them. For example, if the relationship between workers and construction equipment at a construction site can be known, various use cases of site management such as work productivity, equipment operation status monitoring, and safety management can be implemented. This study derives a real-time object detection platform architecture that is required when performing construction site management using deep learning technology, which has recently been increasingly used. To this end, deep learning models that support real-time object detection are investigated and analyzed. Based on this, a deep learning model development process required for real-time construction site object detection is defined. Based on the defined process, a prototype that learns and detects construction site objects is developed, and then platform development considerations and architecture are derived from the results.
