웹 서비스는 기업에게 "서비스로서의 소프트웨어(Software as a Service)"라는 서비스 지향적 패러다임(Service-Oriented Paradigm)을 제공한다. 기업은 자신이 가지고 있는 기존의 견고한 비즈니스 모델을 웹 서비스로 전환하여 다른 기업들에게 판매할 수 있다. 하지만 인터넷은 근본적으로 신뢰의 문제를 안고 있다. 이것은 웹 서비스를 다른 기업들에게 판매할 때 장애요소로 작용한다. 따라서 어떤 기업이 개발한 웹 서비스에 대하여 공신력 있는 기관이 그것을 평가·인증하는 제도를 시행할 필요성이 제기된다. 이러한 제도는 기업의 지속적인 수익원을 발견하기 위한 전제조건으로 중소기업의 전자상거래 참여유도, 웹 서비스 기술 적용의 가속화, 전 세계적으로 서비스의 개방성(openness) 및 접근성(accessibility)을 제공하는 토대의 마련 등 다양한 이익을 제공할 것이다. Web services provide a company the service-oriented paradigm called "Software as a Service": for software to play the role of the service over Internet as well as to improve the operating efficiency in enterprise environments. A company can sell their existiong modeks into transformed models by the web services. However, Internet originally contains a problem dealing their wev setvices. Therefore, there needs to be a reliable institution which ebaluates and certificates the web services. This system is essential for the sustainable profotability and it will also bring a participation of small and medium compamies to an electronic commerce, the fast growth of web services, and the openness and accessibility to worldwide services.

Nocturia is a frequently encountered complaint in patients visiting sleep clinics. Nocturia and its detrimental effect on sleep continuity and quality have been frequently discussed in previous studies. Moreover, abundant research has been conducted to delineate the close relationship between nocturia and the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In this review, we discuss the common comorbidities that can provoke nocturia and their relationship with OSA and sleep.

Ji-Jang-Soo (JJS) is known to have a detoxification effect. However, it is still unclear how JJS has these effects in experimental models. In this study, we investigated the effect of JJS on the viability of cells and production of cytokines in human T-cell line, MOLT-4 cells, and human mast cell line, HMC-1 cells. The MOLT-4 cells were cultured for 24 h in the presence or absence of JJS. As the result, JJS (1/100 dilution) significantly increased the cell viability about 78% (P < 0.05) and also increased the interleukin (IL)-2, and interferon $(IFN)-{\gamma}$ production compared with media control at 24 h. But had no effect on IL-4 production. Hypoxia mimic compound, desferroxamine (DFX) decreased the immune cell viability. Cell viability decreased by DFX was increased by JJS. In conclusion, these data indicate that JJS may have an immune-enhancing effect.

Perianal fistulizing diseases, namely perianal fistulas and/or abscesses, are well-known complications of Crohn's disease (CD). These are known to develop more frequently in Asian children with CD, especially in the early stages of the disease course. Approximately half of the pediatric CD cases in Korea present with perianal fistulizing diseases at diagnosis. We report a rare case of a 12-year-old boy with CD with an incidental discovery of a perianal abscess on pelvic magnetic resonance imaging during CD diagnosis. No symptoms or signs of perianal fistulizing disease were identified. The early diagnosis of the perianal abscess enabled timely and effective treatment. Considering the high incidence of concomitant perianal CD in Korean children at diagnosis, perianal imaging may be useful and should be considered during diagnostic evaluation, even in patients with no subjective or objective findings indicating perianal CD.

<P>Thrombin (factor IIa) and factor Xa (FXa) are key enzymes at the junction of the intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation pathways and are the most attractive pharmacological targets for the development of novel anticoagulants. Twenty non-amidino <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-thiophencarbonyl- and <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-tosyl anthranilamides <B>1</B>–<B>20</B> and six amidino <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-thiophencarbonyl- and <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-tosylanthranilamides <B>21</B>–<B>26</B> were synthesized to evaluate their activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) and prothrombin time (PT) using human plasma at a concentration of 30 µg/mL in vitro. As a result, compounds <B>5</B>, <B>9</B>, and <B>21</B>–<B>23</B> were selected to study the further antithrombotic activity. The anticoagulant properties of <B>5</B>, <B>9</B>, and <B>21</B>–<B>23</B> significantly exhibited a concentration-dependent prolongation of in vitro PT and aPTT, in vivo bleeding time, and ex vivo clotting time. These compounds concentration-dependently inhibited the activities of thrombin and FXa and inhibited the generation of thrombin and FXa in human endothelial cells. In addition, data showed that <B>5</B>, <B>9</B>, and <B>21</B>–<B>23</B> significantly inhibited thrombin catalyzed fibrin polymerization and mouse platelet aggregation and inhibited platelet aggregation induced by U46619 in vitro and ex vivo. Among the derivatives evaluated, <I>N</I>-(3′-amidinophenyl)-2-((thiophen-2′′-yl)carbonylamino)benzamide (<B>21</B>) was the most active compound.</P>

Liposarcoma accounts for at least 20% of all soft tissue sarcoma in adults and occur anywhere in the body, although about 14% of cases arise from retroperitoneum. Liposarcoma usually presents as a painless, enlarging mass that can slowly grow over many years. We here report a case of retroperitoneal liposarcoma in a 52 years old female patient undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Retroperitoneal liposarcoma was incidentally found by computed tomography which was performed due to ventral hernia and confirmed by ultrasonography guided-biopsy. She was treated successfully by wide surgical resection and transferred to hemodialysis.

<P>Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disease that involves the deterioration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta. Although the etiology of PD remains poorly understood, recent genetic, postmortem, and experimental evidence shows that abnormal protein accumulation and subsequent aggregate formation are prominent features of both sporadic and familial PD. While proteasome dysfunction is observed in PD, diverse mutations in the parkin gene are linked to early-onset autosomal-recessive forms of familial PD. We demonstrate that parkin, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, activates the 26S proteasome in an E3 ligase activity-independent manner. Furthermore, an N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain within parkin is critical for the activation of the 26S proteasome through enhancing the interaction between 19S proteasomal subunits, whereas the PD-linked R42P mutant abolishes this action. The current findings point to a novel role for parkin for 26S proteasome assembly and suggest that parkin mutations contribute to the proteasomal dysfunction in PD.</P>

Despite the significant disease burden of bronchiectasis in Korea, there has been no large-scale, representative prospective cohort studies to evaluate clinical characteristics of bronchiectasis patients in Korea. Thus, there has been an urgent need of bronchiectasis cohort study. The Korean Multicenter Bronchiectasis Audit and Research Collaboration (KMBARC) is a prospective, non-interventional observational cohort study of bronchiectasis in Korea. The inclusion criteria are as follows: 1) adult ≥18 years of age with or without respiratory symptoms, 2) bronchiectasis confirmed by chest computed tomography, and 3) stable status at the time of registration. The exclusion criteria are as follow; 1) bronchiectasis due to cystic fibrosis, 2) traction bronchiectasis associated with interstitial lung disease, 3) patients under active treatment against pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, or non-tuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary infection, 4) patients who are unable or unwilling to provide informed consent, and 5) patients who are pregnant. We aim to recruit at least 1,120 patients over the study period more than 26 hospitals in South Korea. Patients will undergo detailed baseline and yearly assessment for up to five years. The study purposes of KMBARC registry are as follows: 1) uncovering the natural course of bronchiectasis, 2) guiding to make an evidence-based bronchiectasis guideline in Korea, and 3) encouragement and facilitation of bronchiectasis studies in Korea. We also expect to perform collaboration studies with other clinical registry, e.g., EMBARC registry to reveal the ethnic differences of bronchiectasis.
