오디오북과 소설의 관련 양상 분석을 통한 오디오북 텍스트 수용 방향

The purpose of this study is to propose the direction of accepting audio-book texts as a new medium of reading in the digital age. In this study, an audio-book converts a copyrighted work(primary text) or a work produced on the premise of auditory distribution into a digital file through conversion by a technique such as human voice or TTS (Text-to-Speech) It is defined as a voice work(secondary text) that can be distributed using a information network. Audio-book is a modern succession of our traditional culture of reading novels, and are being produced in various genres. While novels constitute meaning in the written language, audio-book makes sense by organically combining Oral language, background music, and sound effects. Novels are communicated by the author through perspective or audition by reading aloud of the audience, but audio-book is communicated only by auditory. As the novel was produced as an audio-book, the contents were specified and expanded, changed to conversation, abbreviated and deleted. The direction of acceptance of audio-books can provide education opportunities for visually impaired people, do audio-book education as play, and educate them to expand their imagination. It is necessary to investigate the effect of the acceptance method of novels and audio-book in the future, and it is necessary to examine audio-book in various angles through comparison analysis with many genres except novels, and reading aloud method for audio-book is requested too.

E-Book, Audio-Book, or E-Audio-Book: The Effects of Multiple Modalities on EFL Comprehension

This study explores effects of e-book and audio-book on EFL comprehension. It was conducted at a university in Korea with 75 college students. The whole experiment lasted for five weeks in 2020. To determine effectiveness of multiple modalities, participants were assigned to three different experimental groups: e-book, audio-book, and e-audio-book (a combination of e-book and audio-book) groups. While the e-book group was provided with passages in a text format, the audio group received the same passages in an audio format. The e-audio-book group was given both text and audio formats. At the beginning and end of the treatment, pretest and posttest were administered. As expected, the e-audio-book group benefited more than the other two groups in listening comprehension. However, they showed better performance in reading comprehension than the audio-book group only. Additionally, the e-book group performed better in reading comprehension compared to the audio-book group. Based on these findings, pedagogical implications are made.

전자책(e-book)‧오디오북(audio-boook)‧챗북(chat-book)의 만족도 및 재이용의도 연구 : 기대불일치 이론을 중심으로

This study starts with the premise that changes in consumption methods, production of various digital contents, the emergence of new generations, and the spread of new media inevitably change the publishing industry amid the advancement of the digital age, and starts with a question of how e-books, audio-books, and chat-books are accepted by users. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, it was found that expectations for service quality had a positive (+) effect on service quality performance in all e-book, audio-book, and chat-book platforms. Second, in the case of e-books and audio-books, service quality expectations had a negative (-) effect on the expected mismatch, while chat-books did not show a significant influence relationship. Third, it was found that service quality performance had a positive (+) effect on expectation mismatch in all e-book, audio-book, and chat-book platforms. Fourth, in the case of audio-books and chat-books, service quality performance had a positive (+) effect on platform satisfaction, while e-books did not show a significant influence relationship. Fifth, in the case of e-books and audio-books, expectation mismatch had a positive (+) effect on platform satisfaction, while chat-books did not show a significant influence relationship. Finally, it was found that platform satisfaction had a positive (+) effect on reuse intention in all e-books, audio-books, and chat-books. It is expected that this study will be used as an initial data comparing and analyzing the satisfaction and reuse intention of e-book, audio-book, and chat-book platforms based on the expectancy disconfirmation theory, and will serve as a meaningful stepping stone for future research. 본 연구는 디지털 시대의 고도화 등이 진행되고 있는 오늘날에 전자책, 오디오북, 챗북 각각의 플랫폼이 이용자들에게 어떻게 받아들여지고 있는지에 대해 알아보았다. 연구 결과 첫째, 전자책, 오디오북, 챗북 플랫폼 모두 서비스 품질에 대한 기대가 서비스 품질 성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤고 둘째, 전자책과 오디오북의 경우 서비스 품질기대가 기대불일치에 부(-)의 영향을 미친 반면, 챗북은 유의미한 영향관계를 나타내지 않았다. 셋째, 전자책, 오디오북, 챗북 플랫폼 모두 서비스 품질성과가 기대불일치에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며 넷째, 오디오북과 챗북의 경우 서비스 품질성과가 플랫폼 만족도에 정(+)의 영향을 미친 반면, 전자책은 유의미한 영향 관계를 나타내지 않았다. 다섯째, 전자책과 오디오북의 경우 기대불일치가 플랫폼 만족도에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으나, 챗북은 유의미한 영향 관계를 나타내지 않았다. 또한 전자책, 오디오북, 챗북 모두 플랫폼 만족도가 재이용의도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

논문 : 대학도서관의 오디오북 서비스 만족도 연구

본 연구는 디지털 콘텐츠를 자유롭게 활용하고 있는 대학생 집단을 대상으로 오디오북 서비스에 대한 이용행태와 만족도를 연구하였다. 본 실험에 참여한 대학생 249명의 설문을 분석한 결과, 대학생들의 오디오북 서비스에 대한 전반적인 만족도는 평균 2.33으로 전반적으로 만족한다는 것으로 조사되었으며, 오디오북을 이용하는 학생은 81명으로 미사용자가 조금 더 많았다. 성별 간 오디오북 서비스 만족도 부분에서 유의미한 차이가 발생하였으며, 종이책 독서량이 오디오북 서비스 만족도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 콘텐츠 측정 영역 중 다양성, 유용성, 흥미성에 대한 만족도가 오디오북 서비스 만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 오디오북 서비스 만족도가 충성도에 강한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 추후 오디오북 이용자를 확보하고 활용을 높이기 위해서는 무엇보다 콘텐츠 및 시스템 개발과 홍보에 노력을 기울일 필요가 있다는 점을 제언하였다. This research aiming university students who are well aware of using digital contents, on the status of usage and satisfaction about audio book services that are expected to newly replace the reading activity. As a result of conducting research on 249 university students, the overall satisfaction of university students regarding audio book services was found to be 2.33 on average, which implies that they are satisfied by and large. Also, the number of students using audio books was 81, and the number of non-users was found to be slightly greater. There was notable difference in satisfaction of audio book service by gender, and it turned out that the amount of reading paper books influenced the audio book service satisfaction. Also, it was shown that among various contents measurement domains, the satisfaction about variety, usefulness, and interest were found to be influencing audio book service satisfaction. In addition, it was shown that audio book service satisfaction strongly influenced loyalty. In order to increase the number of audio book users, it would be necessary more than anything else to develop and promote contents and systems.

독서지형도의 형성과 청각공동체의 구성 - <책읽아웃>을 중심으로

This study targeted <Book Reading Out>, a program by channel YES, run by a large Internet bookstore “YES24.” With the development of digital media, adult readers no longer seem as interested in liberal arts essential books used unilaterally in middle-school, high-school, and university classrooms. Those who freely choose various book-related programs in the form of services are now referred to as subscribers. This study reviewed the reading topography of the subscribers of <Book Reading Out> and the characteristics of the auditory community they form. Chapter 2 examines the process of replacing the authority of existing educational institutions by the host of the book program. Most of the hosts are book-related experts with published books to their name; however, instead of advocating their authority, they introduce their favorite books those they consider compelling and create an aura around intimacy by unraveling the author and the host’s own life experiences. Chapters 3 and 4 revealed that <Book Reading Out> appeals to learning-oriented female readers and is building a community that inculcates empathy-knowledge and self-development-care. The hosts mentioned that although they knew a new world and induced others to recognize the subscibers as members of the community, heterogeneity could weaken in that they repeated empathy, the hosts took a conservative and elite-centered approach to self-development and care, simplifying the level of women’s labor. The limitations are the fact that the positivity of the discussion has not been supplemented by statistics and that related activities have not been reviewed further; however, this will be supplemented with follow-up studies 이 연구는 대형 인터넷 서점 YES24에서 운영하는 채널YES의 오디오 북클립 프로그램 <책읽아웃>을 연구 대상으로 삼았다. 디지털미디어의 발전에 따라 성인독자들은 중고등학교 교실이나 대학 강의실에서 일방적으로 주어지는 교양필수도서를 더이상 만나지 않는다. 다양한 도서 관련 프로그램을 서비스 형태로 자유롭게 선택하는이들은 이제 구독자라는 명칭을 얻었다. 이 글은 <책읽아웃>의 구독자들이 어떤 독서지형도를 그리며, 그들이 형성하는 청각공동체의 특징이 무엇인가를 검토하였다. 2장에서는 도서 프로그램의 진행자가 기존 교육기관의 권위를 대체하는 과정을 살펴보았다. 진행자들은 대부분 책을 출판한 도서관련 전문가들이지만 그 권위를 내세우는 대신, 자신들이 좋아하는 책이나 관심을 기울이게 된 책들을 소개하고 저자와진행자 자신의 삶의 경험을 이야기로 풀어내면서 친밀감을 중심으로 아우라를 형성하였다. 3장과 4장에서는 <책읽아웃>이 일하는, 학습지향적인 여성독자들에게 어필하며공감-앎의 공동체이자 자기계발-돌봄의 공동체를 구축하고 있음을 밝혔다. 새로운세계를 알고 타인을 공동체의 일원으로 인식하게 유도했으나 공감을 반복한다는 점에서 이질성이 약화될 수 있음을, 자기계발과 돌봄을 다루면서 다분히 보수적이고 엘리트 중심으로 접근하여 여성노동의 층위가 단순해졌음을 언급했다. 논의의 실증성이 통계로 보완되지 못했던 점, 관련 활동을 좀 더 검토하지 못한 점을 한계로 꼽으며이를 후속 연구로 보완코자 한다.

중국 오디오북 구독서비스에 대한 만족도 및 지속이용의도 연구: 기술수용모델, 지각된 위험을 중심으로

Purpose: Recently, the subscription service and audio book market are getting attention with the development of digital technology. There are many audio book platforms in China and the competition is relatively fierce. Based on technology acceptance model, the study investigated the influence of various factors on users' satisfaction and intention to use continuously for audio book subscription service. This study seeks ways to increase satisfaction with audio book subscription services and it can be reflected in the marketing strategies of companies that want to improve consumer’s intention to use continuously. Research design, data, and methodology: This study conducted a survey of 500 audio book subscription service users in their 20s or older living in China. Exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and regression analysis were performed, and hypotheses were empirically tested. Results: First, it was found that usefulness, enjoyment, and consumer knowledge had a significant positive effect on satisfaction. Second, usefulness, ease of use, enjoyment, innovation, and consumer knowledge all had a positive effect on the intention to use continuously while privacy risk and financial risk had a negative effect. Third, the higher the satisfaction with the audio book subscription service, the higher the intention to use continuously. Implications: For companies related to audio book subscription services, efforts to create usefulness, ease, and pleasure are important to satisfaction and intention to use continuously. Second, efforts are needed to protect user information, and proper pricing and maintenance of subscription services are required. Third, efforts to enhance innovation and consumer knowledge are required. In order to increase satisfaction for audio book subscription service, a satisfaction improvement strategy that reflects the opinions of buyers such as complaints and improvements is required.

인터넷을 통한 오디오북 강의 사례연구

This article shows how to utilize an audio book in an English class by presenting the case of "Audio Book Class" of the Cyber university. With reference to the recent trend that the audio book is welcomed as an effective tool to support reading classes for English-speaking students, the author probes the possibility to utilize audio books in EFL context by conducting the research on EFL students' responses to the audio book class. The article reports 65 adult learners' response to the audio book class collected through a student survey and an on-line bulletin board. The research results show that students were highly positive to the audio book class since it inspired their motivation to read English novels by providing them a chance to listen to English native speakers' narration of high quality English literature. The study result indicates that the audio books can be effective teaching materials for EFL learners to improve their listening skills as well as their knowledge of vocabulary and English structures.

낭독된 『토지』와 묵독하는 『토지』 사이, ‘읽기(독서)’란 무엇인가? - 종이책 및 오디오북 <토지> 1부 서술자 분석으로써 독서 층위 나누고-포개기

Comparing two different types of media can easily lead to signifying their gap within their differences. A gap exists, and there is no doubt about it. This study aims to demonstrate that such a gap cannot always be constructed in disconnecting ways and that resulting differences are not constructed in a hierarchy. Being aware of this, the study focused on the existence of a narrator embodied in written and spoken language in the and audio book Land, respectively, and translated the focus into a connection between reading in silence and reading through listening. Chapter 2 finds dialogism in the narrator of the paper book Land due to the speaker depicted as the most multi-natured character outside the events and inside the drama in Part 1 of the story. Chapters 3 and 4 focus on the narrator of the audio book Land as an outcome of finding the traces of spoken language dwelling in the written language. Discovering that the voice actor playing the narrator of the audio book performed with a voice excluding emotions, the study focused on the fact that the recitation mechanism of the narrator in the paper book Land is based on reading from beginning to end to understand it. Chapter 4, in particular, focuses on the characteristics of audio books including convenience and will for finishing the listening commonly mentioned in statistical surveys and research on audiobook platforms as well as the responses of readers listening to audiobooks. It should note that reading through listening an audiobook is being settled into a way of offsetting the difficulties of reading all of a book to peoples. It seems useless to find connections between things that appear to have nothing to do with each other. This paper is a symptomatic attempt at reading derived from looking at many different layers of reading fulfillment inserted between media. It may be possible to estimate the outline of bases, in which Land continues to be established as a closed text after many years of talking to readers beyond time and space limitations based on the entry of words in multiple layers, from this way of reading that seems irrelevant and useless. This study is an uninvited initiation of a conversation out of the anxiety that Land, which has spurred diverse conversations of many types among its readers for the last 50 years or so, might be read as a closed and complete canon within different reading patterns. 연구는 마로니에북스에서 발간된 <토지> 결정판(2013)과, 이를 ‘원작’ 삼아 녹음한 윌라의 오디오북 <토지>(2021)에 대한 각각의 읽기들을 수행하면서, ‘읽기’에의 의미를 고찰해나가는 연구이다. 기실 최근의 오디오북은 그 태생부터 종이책을 의식하고 있는 소리로 구성된다. 그러나 오디오북에 대한 최근의 인식들과 그와 연결되는 종이책에의 인식들은 이 파생을 간과하며, 이를 ‘상반되는’ 매체들로 인식한다. 그러나 종이책 <토지>의 읽기와 오디오북 <토지>의 읽기는 서로를 의식하며-보완하며-호명한다. 본 연구는 문자텍스트에서 음성텍스트로 옮겨간 <토지> 읽기들의 층위를 면면히 나눔과 동시에, 그 나눔을 단절로 상상하지 않는다. 이 구분들이 연결되어 있음을 이야기하고자 한다. 본고는 월터 J. 옹의 논의들과 연관하여 오디오북 <토지>를 읽는 음성 배우의 낭독과 이를 듣는 독청자들의 청독을 가로지르는 문자-소리 사이의 ‘간매체성’을 논한다. 이에 따라 2장은 종이책 <토지>를 묵독하면서 발견할 수 있는 서술자의 대화성을 양각화한다. 이어 3장과 4장에서는 글말에 깃든 입말의 흔적들을 찾는 결과물로서 오디오북 <토지>의 서술자에 주목한다. 오디오북의 서술자는 종이책의 서술자와는 달리 묵독적 특성에의 소리 수행을 드러내는데, 본고는 이에 대하여 텍스트를 ‘닫힌’ 것으로 감각해왔음을 상기시키는 소리 수행이자, 그럼에도 완전히 소거되지 않은 <토지> 서술자의 대화성 수행으로 읽어낸다.

중국문학 오디오북과 플랫폼 서비스 연구

Youtube와 같은 영상의 시대에 역설적으로 오디오북이 급성장하고 있다. 오디오북은 스마트 디바이스 시대에서 디지털 기기와 거리를 두려는 디지털 디톡스(Digital Detox) 경향 등의 복합적인 영향의 결과물이라 할 수 있다. 오디오북의 최대 장점은 영상이나 텍스트와는 달리 일 또는 운전 등을 하면서 ‘멀티태스킹(mutitasking)’으로 책을 읽을 수 있다는 점이다. 오디오북시장은 이미 해외에서 최근 몇 년간 출판 분야에서 가장 빠르게 성장하는 산업으로 자리잡았다. 한국과 중국에서도 다양한 오디오북 전문 플랫폼이 등장하고 있다. 특히 중국어+한국어 번역 텍스트에 중국어 사운드를 추가할 경우 학생들의 접근성을 파격적으로 강화할 수 있다. 또한 중국어 음성합성 기술을 웹페이지에 적용하고 중국문학 작품 텍스트와 사운드를 동시에 서비스 한다면 그 효과는 극대화될 것이다. 특히 4차산업혁명시대 지능화된 음성합성은 낭독자의 자연음을 활용하여 음성엔진을 개발함으로써, 기계적인 음성합성의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 대안이 될 것이다. Paradoxically, in the age of video like Youtube, audio books are rapidly growing. Audio books are the result of complex influences such as digital detox trends that try to distance themselves from digital devices in the age of smart devices. The biggest advantage of audio books is that they can read books with "mutitasking" while working or driving, unlike video or text. The audio book market has already become the fastest growing industry in the publishing sector in recent years abroad. Various platforms specializing in audio books are also appearing in South Korea and China. We hope that applying these audio books to Chinese literature education will have many effects. In particular, the addition of Chinese sounds to the Chinese-Korean translation text can dramatically enhance students' accessibility. Also, if the Chinese phonetic synthesis technology is applied to web pages and the text and sound of Chinese literature works are served at the same time, the effect will be maximized. In particular, intelligent voice synthesis during the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be an alternative to overcoming the limitations of mechanical speech synthesis by developing a voice engine using the natural sound of the reader.

오디오 촉각도서의 음성연기법 연구

이 연구는 중소벤처기업부 창업진흥원에서 진행하는 「2020년 메이커 창작프로젝트 지원」 혁신선도의 부문에 선정된 동서울대학교 산학협력단의 사업으로써, 사물 인터넷을 기반으로 시각장애인을 위한 클 라우드 기반 IoT 오디오 촉각도서 콘텐츠 제작 과정에서 창작동화를 녹음하며 주제에 맞는 음성연기법을 고찰하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 대해 성우들의 음성연기와 유아교육가들의 동화구연법의 연구를 바탕 으로 IoT 기술을 활용한 오디오 콘텐츠 속의 연기법은 어떻게 변화되어야 하는가에 대해 논의를 진행하 였다. 또한, 자동 오디오 재생이라는 환경과 시각장애인이라는 대상에게 적용되는 특수한 현실성에 음성 연기법의 다양한 가능성을 확인해보았다. 본 연구자는 오디오 제작 책임연구원으로 참여하면서, 클라우 드 공유가 가능한 촉각도서 제작과정에서 최명진 작가의 어른동화 <애착인형> 1·2편의 오디오 콘텐츠 세부책임자로 역할을 하였다. 녹음과 음성연기지도 실행과정 안에서 어떠한 연기법이 구현되어야 효율 성이 극대화 되는지에 초점을 두고, 함께 참여한 동서울대학교 연기예술학과 재학생 3명의 인터뷰를 중 심으로 음성연기법의 효율성을 극대화 시키고자 하였다. 그 결과 참여자들은 구연동화, 라디오드라마의 결합을 뛰어 넘는 시각장애인들의 특수성에 대한 촉각도서 음성연기법의 주안점을 다음과 같이 피력했 다. 세밀한 호흡의 변화, 마이크 안에서의 방향과 원근감을 고려한 발성, 보이는 듯한 입체적이고 세밀한 연기력과 인위적이지 않되 정확한 발음을 꼽았다. 다채로운 발성을 통하여 더욱 세밀해야 하는 시각장애 인을 위한 촉각도서의 음성연기법을 통해서 억양과 의성어, 의태어 등 다양한 육감의 소리로 구현되는 체현화의 증요성을 전체적인 흐름 하에 적용시키는 중요성에 대해서 인지하고 실현하는 장이 되었다. 이 는 배우들이 매체연기와 무대연기, 동화구연을 넘나드는 목적과 특수성을 감안한 환경에 적극 대처하고 적용해야 함을 시사한다. This research is based on a business of Industry-Academic Collaboration Foundation of Dong Seoul University, 2020 Maker Creative Project Support, which was supported by Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development. The main task of the project was to create contents of cloud-based audio tactile book for people with visual impairments and this research was planned to explore appropriate methods of voice acting in a setting of Internet of Things(IoT) by recording creative fairy tale. For this, various acting styles of voice actors and storytelling techniques of children educators were analyzed and discussion was held subsequently to find out how acting methods should be changed for audio contents combined with loT. In addition, acting methods in the unique setting of automatic audio play were investigated. I work as a senior researcher for audio production and was responsible for audio contents of a series of An Attachment Doll, written by Myeong-Jin Choi, and the audio tactile book is now available on Clould. Teaching students who major in acting in Dong Seoul University, I experimented various acting methods with them, observed, and discovered which of them are appropriate for the certain setting. In-depth interviews of three students were analyzed additionally to prove the effectiveness of the methods. The students reported that four factors of voice acting for the tactile book were crucial; the subtle changes of breathing, the vocalizations according to direction and distance while using a microphone, acting skills, and the accurate pronunciation. This suggests that actors should be prepared for the special setting through training which is based on special methodology.
