Vol.57 No.1

In this study, we proposed a method to simulate a truck-loader haulage system in open-pit mines and visualize the results in real time using the software AnyLogic. An open-pit limestone mine in Korea was selected as the study area. The time parameters for each unit operation of the haulage system were measured via a field survey. A discrete event simulation model for the mine was then developed using AnyLogic. We intuitively confirmed the simulation results with key production indicators and visualized the truck-loader haulage operation over time. This study was thus able to overcome the limitations of previous studies, which could not measure key production indicator values and the status of haulage systems in real time during simulations.

      • A Study on Illegal Transfer Paths of North Korea’s Strategic Items

Vol.20 No.1

In the previous study, the types of North Korea’s strategic items, foreign trading partners, and export items were investigated. From North Korea’s typical trade paths, it is possible to predict the paths through which North Korea’s strategic items are illegally exported upon denuclearization. Trading partners of North Korea are the potential importing countries or end-users of strategic items, which can be disguised or concealed as if it is general export items during typical export procedures. So, in this study, transfer paths of North Korea’s export items are examined by utilizing KOTRA statistics, including item type HS code and its total price. Also, AnyLogic, a comprehensive simulation modeling tool, the simulation will be conducted to identify the paths for illegal transfer and calculate the time required. The information on North Korea’s trading partners and items is used for establishing export scenarios in which strategic items are transferred to other countries through North Korea’s ports, airports, railroads, and roads. To be specific, China, Russia, and South Korea, countries that share a border with North Korea, export items transported only by land; the items will arrive first in the referred three countries. Since the types of items, North Korea transacts with each country are different, the total amount and frequency of transactions are different; the probability of strategic items being included in general export items and transferred during customs clearance also varies. Even if it does not border North Korea, North Korea can export items through ports to countries adjacent to the coastline, and North Korea can even export items to any country by airspace even if it is not adjacent to the coastline. So, all publicly open ports, airports, railways, and roads are surveyed. Their geographic information, such as EPSG 4326 and EPSG 3857 coordinate system, are applied to confirm and visualize valid export paths starting from North Korea. In conclusion, effective export paths in North Korea are identified based on North Korea’s each major transportation hub by using AnyLogic simulation. It is possible to predict the paths through which North Korea’s strategic items will be transferred by combining information on major export items and countries that North Korea mainly transacts with.

Microscopic Simulation and Optimization of Signal Timing based on Multi-Agent: A Case Study of the Intersection in Tianjin

        Leiting Sun,Jianqiang Tao,Chunfa Li,Shengkai Wang,Ziqiang Tong 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.9

The purpose of this paper is to optimize the signal timing through multi-agent simulation technology. Firstly, a conceptual model of the actual intersection is described. Secondly, the social dynamics model of the vehicle and pedestrian evolution rules are established from the micro perspective, which is simulated respectively by Anylogic and Synchro on this basis. Finally, the signal timing strategies for the different vehicle priorities are discovered through the heuristic algorithm. The case study shows that: ①The actual signal timing is not reasonable. ②The optimization strategies of signal timing can improve traffic efficiency. ③By comparing the signal timing strategies of different vehicle priority, the study shows that the Anylogic is more superior to the Synchro, which provides a new way to solve the traffic congestion.

C. Park) (사)한국CDE학회 2012 한국 CAD/CAM 학회 학술발표회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.2

Recently, agent-based technology is actively being considered in the field of defense Modeling and Simulation (M&S). An existing defense M&S technology has limitations to modeling and simulation for complex combat system effectively. In other words, a large number of complex weapon systems, or integration factors are modeled as a single object to perform the simulation, are highly vulnerable in terms of scalability, reusability etc. And because of this, a lot of time and effort is expected to be consumed. In this paper, we perform an agent-based modeling like a combination of Lego blocks to quickly assemble and disassemble object just as you want, and ensure a seamless interface between all the objects using one of the commercial software ‘AnyLogic’ that includes an agent function. As a result, we will overcome limitations of existing defense M&S.

Vol.20 No.1

To evaluate the architectural space, attempts to look at space from a structuralist point of view and to analyze it in a more scientific and quantitative way have been made. The existing spatial composition analysis methodologies such as spatial syntax and Depth map are simply static approaches to find out how visual information is distributed in space rather than a dynamic approach to how users perceive and act in space. In these static analysis methods, only the spaces become the objects of analysis in the analyzing process and the interaction between the user and the space becomes missing, because the user disappears in the analyzing process, although the behavioral characteristics of the user are applied. When the user moves in the space, the interaction between the space and the user occurs. The analysis of the interaction between the space and the user is an essential fuser to consider when you designing a space. Therefore, when analyzing the spatial composition, you need to reproduce the micro pattern of the user. In recent years, studies to model and simulate individual users and to approach them from a more objective and microscopic viewpoint have been conducted as theories of complex systems and related analyzing methods are emerging. The purpose of this study is to complement the limitations of existing spatial analysis and to analyze he space objectively from a more diverse viewpoints using the agent-based model, which is an approach considering the interactions between the space and the user.

A Simulation Study on the Impact of Abandoned Trolley Cases on Pedestrian Evacuation

        Dongyue Xu,Jinghong Wang,Juan Liu,Yan Wang,Juncheng Jiang 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.27 No.3

Many pedestrians empirically think that discarding luggage can improve evacuation efficiency, but it is unclear whether discarding luggage is an effective evacuation strategy. Previous models also oversimplified the interference of abandoned luggage on pedestrians. Hence, an extended social force model integrates pedestrian interaction with abandoned luggage like trolley cases was firstly proposed. A simulation based on a real metro station was carried out to examine the effectiveness of evacuation strategy like abandoning trolley cases at the bottleneck such as gate machine and metro carriage door, and the influence mechanism of abandoned trolley cases on pedestrians was investigated. The results show that discarding the trolley cases at the gate machine and at the metro carriage door cannot improve evacuation efficiency but increase the evacuation time by 78.7% and 14.9% at these two positions when the carrying ratio is 50%, respectively. When the occupancy rate of trolley case at the gate machine and metro carriage door is below 19% and 11%, pedestrians tend to detour the abandoned trolley cases and this behavior significantly increased the collisions between pedestrians at bottlenecks, and when the occupancy rate exceeds, they tend to push aside the trolley cases and the evacuation efficiency is further reduced.
