        본 연구는 국제 공동 연구과제로서 KAIST는 한국공군의 전투기를 기준으로 인도네시아 반둥공과대학(ITB)은 인도네시아 공군의 Suhoi 30 전투기를 기준으로 전투기 공중전투기동 및 화력 제어 논리를 연구개발한다. 전투기 공중전투기동 시스템을 모델링하고 화력제어 계통으로 목표물을 탐지, 식별, 추적, 전투기동 및 미사일 발사 절차의 최적화된 로직을 연구한다. 공대공 교전 모델링은 전투기 및 무장체계의 수학적 모델 및 조종사의 행동 모델을 포함한다. BVR 공대공 미사일의 유도 및 근접 교전 시 전투기의 전술 기동을 분석하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 적기 격추율을 산출하고 논리 모델을 평가한다. 현대 공중전의 핵심적인 기술 중에 하나로 전투기의 음향에 의한 적기 탐지 및 식별 방안도 연구한다. This research is conducted as an international co-research project by KAIST and Institute Technology Bandung (ITB), which is based on studies of Korean Air Force fighters by KAIST and studies of Suhoi30 of Indonesian Air Force by ITB. This research also develops the model of air-to-air combat maneuver system and optimal firearm control logic for target search, identification, tracking, combat maneuvers and missile launch procedures. Air-to-air combat modeling includes the mathematical model and firearm system of fighters as well as pilot’s behavior model. Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air missile guidance and fighter’s close range combat maneuver are analyzed. The kill probability of target aircraft is calculated by simulations, which is followed by logic model evaluation. This research also includes the technology of target identification with acoustic signal from a target.

      • 전례 분석을 통한 도시지역 공격작전 발전방안 연구 -소부대급 공지합동작전을 중심으로-

        The effectiveness of Air Ground Joint Operations was analysed for the ‘Seoul Recapture Operation’ in the Korean War and the ‘Thunder Run Operations’ during the Iraq War. From the analysis, CAS(Close Air Support) was found to be very effective for offense operations on urban terrain even for small units at company-level and below. Especially noteworthy were the operation accomplishments during the Iraq War where the ground operation forces showed very high effectiveness through Air Ground Joint Operations using Precision Guidance Missiles. Five issues for consideration were derived from the analysis. First, Air Ground Joint Operations on urban terrain should be more heavily employed in future battlefields because the importance of Military Operations on urban terrain and the utility of Air Ground Joint Operations have been heightened by increasing urbanization. Second, this study suggests four ‘prerequisites of Joint Forces’ for effective Air to Ground Joint Operations on urban terrain such as sharing information between friendly forces in the urban area on carefully selected objectives. Third, as part of ‘performance of proper role of ground troops’ and acquisition of necessary abilities for effective Air to Ground Joint Operations, four factors including the fulfillment of communication skills of acknowledging same information of enemy with air force were researched. Fourth, despite the importance of offense operations of air support, this research suggests that Ground Troops nonetheless have a crucial role to play as final victory ultimately depends on them. Finally, three training factors including the education contents for field grade officers were analysed to foster ability to conduct Air to Ground Joint Operations.

        유도탄 탄내케이블 브레이드 제거에 따른 고찰

        오늘날 북핵문제는 한반도와 동북아시아에 심각한 안보 위협 요인으로 대두되고 있다. 이에 따라 우리 군은 휴전선에서 수백Km 떨어진 상공에서도 평양 등 북한 지휘부 건물과 핵시설을 정밀 타격할 수 있는 장거리 공대지 유도탄의 해외 도입과 국내 개발을 추진하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 장거리 공대지 유도탄 개발을 위한 여러 설계 요소 중 유도탄 경량화를 위한 탄내케이블 브레이드를 제거하고 이에 따른 성능을 예측 및 분석하였다. 브레이드 제거에 따른 탄내케이블 뭉치 내부의 누화 (cross-talk) 및 군사 EMI 규격인 MIL-STD-461F의 내성(conduction susceptibility) CS114 및 방사(radiated emission) RE101 규격을 적용하여 시뮬레이션을 통해 브레이드 제거 가능성을 분석하였다. The North Korea nuclear issue is now posing a serious security threat to the Korea and Northeast Asia. Accordingly, the South Korean military is pushing for the introduction of long-range air-to-surface flights and the development of domestic nuclear facilities that can precisely hit North Korea headquarters building and nuclear facility even hundreds of kilometers above the border. In this paper, we removed the cable braid for securing the weight of the missile among several design elements for long-range air-to-surface missile development and estimated and analyzed the resulting performance. The possibility of braid removal was analyzed in terms of crosstalk inside the cable and CS114, RE101 of MIL-STD-461F.

        함대공 방어체계 복합자산 운용개념 연구

        The purpose of this study was to propose an operational concept for a ship in a fleet equipped with an interceptor missile system, a naval surface to air defense system, and to develop a simulation program that reflects it. The results of the defense activities of other ships in the fleet can be reflected by receiving information about the status of the enemy missiles. The allocation of defensive assets is based on the survival probability of the ship, not on the destruction of enemy attacks, which can be obtained as the product of the expected survival probability for each enemy missile. In addition, the concept of predicted survivability was introduced to assess the loss of future defense opportunities that would result from assigning a new command. A simulation program was also developed as a tool for realizing the proposed concept of operations, which generated cases.

        A Telemetry-Based Post-flight Wind Profile Estimation Method for Air-to-Surface Missiles

        This paper presents a wind profile estimation method for test flight of a short-range air-to-surface missile. The method integrates the telemetry data (e.g., navigation data, fin control history), empirical regional wind profile data, and a high-fidelity flight dynamics simulator to infer on the vertical wind profile that the missile has experienced during the flight. The inference procedure works in a sequential fashion: (a) starting from the launching altitude, random winds are sampled from seasonal rawinsonde data, (b) the wind that matches best to the simulated trajectory using the telemetry data is chosen, (c) the updated wind distribution at the altitude is used as the prior information for the next altitude layer, and (d) this process is repeated. Simulation studies with high-fidelity simulator are performed to validate the proposed estimation method, highlighting its robustness against variation in wind profiles and flight conditions.

        A Convex Programming Approach to Mid-course Trajectory Optimization for Air-to-Ground Missiles

        This paper addresses trajectory optimization in the mid-course phase of an air-to-ground missile, when the main objectives are (a) to ensure that the target is locked on in the center of the missile’s field-of-view at a specified flight path angle and (b) to attain maximum possible speed to allow for sufficient maneuverability in the terminal phase. The method presents as a second-order cone program (SOCP) formulation for this trajectory optimization, taking advantage of partial linearization and lossless convexification techniques that effectively handle underlying non-convex characteristics of the problem. A well-established SOCP solver can then be readily used to obtain the optimal solution to this convex program. The proposed approach is validated by (a) proving the losslessness of the convexification, and (b) numerically comparing the results with an existing pseudo-spectral method.

        공대공 유도탄의 동적발사영역(DLZ) 산출 알고리듬

        전투기 탑재용 무장제어 알고리듬은 교전상황에서 전투기의 임무 수행 및 생존과 직결된다. 무장제어 알고리듬은 조종사에게 DLZ라 불리는 표적 격추 가능 범위를 HUD에 전시해 준다. DLZ는 교전거리 계산 알고리듬을 이용하여 생성된다. 본 논문에서는 AIM-9과 AIM-120 공대공 유도탄의 DLZ 구성요소에 대해 소개하였다. 다음으로 가상 6-자유도 실시간 시뮬레이션 프로그램에 기반한 DLZ 산출 알고리듬에 관한 내용을 다루었다. 다양한 교전 시나리오 하에서 공대공 유도탄의 DLZ 산출 알고리듬 운용상의 특징을 시뮬레이션을 통해 조사하였다. A weapon control algorithm equipped on a fighter is closely related to the mission accomplishment and fighter survivability during engagement. The weapon control algorithm typically provides a pilot the dynamic launch zone(DLZ), the target shoot-down range of air-to-air missiles, in the head-up display(HUD). DLZ is produced by an engagement range computation algorithm. In this paper, the components of DLZ for AIM-9 and AIM-120 air-to-air missiles are introduced. The real-time computation algorithm for DLZ based on the pseudo 6-DOF program is then addressed The operational aspects of DLZ algorithm for the air-to-air missiles to various engagement scenarios is investigated vis simulations.

        공대지 유도탄의 발사유효범위(LAR) 산출 알고리듬

        전투기 탑재용 무장제어 알고리듬은 교전상황에서 전투기의 임무 수행 및 생존과 직결된다. 공대지 유도탄의 경우 조종사에게 LAR로 알려진 발사 유효 범위를 무장제어 알고리듬을 통하여 전투기 MFD상에 전시해 준다. LAR는 교전 거리의 계산을 통해 산출된 사거리 테이블을 이용하여 생성된다. 본 논문에서는 AGM-84와 AGM-88 공대지 유도탄의 운용모의에 대하여 소개하고, 이를 바탕으로 Pseudo 6자유도 모델에 기반한 사거리 테이블 산출과 실시간 LAR 산출 알고리듬에 대한 내용을 언급하였다. 구성한 알고리듬의 성능 검증을 위하여 모의대상 유도탄의 교전 시뮬레이션을 수행하고 LAR를 산출하여 분석하였다. In the case of a air-to-surface missile, the weapon control algorithm typically provides a pilot the target shoot-down possible region known as launch acceptability region(LAR) in the multi function display(MFD). LAR is produced by the range table(RT) through computation of an engagement range. In this paper, the operation system of AGM-84 and AGM-88 air-to-surface missiles is introduced. And the engagement range computation and LAR algorithm based on the real-time pseudo 6-DOF simulation are proposed. In order to verify the performance of the algorithm, numerical engagement simulations of air-to-surface missiles to produce LAR have been done.

        응답해석을 이용한 고속비행체의 비행진동규격 연구

        A well-designed flight vibration specification enables the optimum weight design of the Surface-to-Air or Air-to-Air Missile, improves the maneuverability of the flight vehicle, improves the engagement of target, and increases the price competitiveness of the components and the missile system. Conventional flight vibration specifications are used by using a somewhat higher standard as suggested in MIL-STD-810C, or based on accumulated data from developed similar missile systems. In this study, we confirmed the validity of FEA response analysis by comparing response data obtained by FEA and response data of real product. Also we proposed that each specification that reflects the structural characteristics of the place where the components are mounted is required instead of verifying all the components by a single flight vibration specification.
