A Study on the Furniture Characteristics of Sharing Space in the community lifestyle of Fujian Tulou, China

        Shao, Xiao Yue(소효월),Park, Seongah(박성아) 한국전시산업융합연구원 2019 한국과학예술융합학회 Vol.37 No.2

Tulou as the famous of its technic of architecture and community lifestyle attract our attention. As the symbol of “Congregate Housing” in the past, how they live in this sharing space? What"s their lifestyle? What are their needs for furniture in the community space in the past? What kind of furniture is suitable for them? Based on these questions, we started with three steps to study it. Firstly, we started to research with Hakka`s lifestyle and people who live in Tulou. Studying Hakka`s lifestyle is the most important metrics to explain why Tulou`s unique architecture, sharing space and furniture formed. After knowing the reason, we needed to find out what their characteristics of lifestyle are. Derived from three aspects which are environment, culture and lifestyle. Secondly, through literature review and field research, we analyzed what the characteristics of their furniture are. We categorized the corresponding examples such as chairs, tables, benches, and cabinets from traditional life and modern life to illustrate how and why they were used for. Lastly, we investigated the suitable furniture for this kind of sharing space and community, and came up with suggestions how we could adapt these characteristics in the design for our modern life. At the end, we found out that how the people of diverse culture and community living formed into Tulou`s lifestyle, how they created a semi-privacy space to coordinate between private and public life, and how they saved more space. These findings can be meaningful to provide theoretical and practical guide for the design of furniture in the sharing space nowadays.

Emission properties of sequentially deposited ultrathin CH3NH3PbI3/MoS2 heterostructures

        Shao Ziyi,Xiao Junting,Guo Xiao,You Siwen,Zhang Yangyang,Li Mingjun,Song Fei,Zhou Conghua,Xie Haipeng,Gao Yongli,Sun Jiatao,Huang Han 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.36 No.-

Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite materials have obtained considerable attention due to their exotic optoelectronic properties and extraordinarily high performance in photovoltaic devices. Herein, we successively converted the ultrathin PbI2/MoS2 into the CH3NH3PbI3/MoS2 heterostructures via CH3NH3I vapor processing. Atomic force microscopy (AFM)、Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) measurements prove the high-quality of the converted CH3NH3PbI3/MoS2. Both MoS2 and CH3NH3PbI3 related photoluminescence (PL) intensity quenching in CH3NH3PbI3/MoS2 implies a Type-II energy level alignment at the interface. Temperature-dependent PL measurements show that the emission peak position shifting trend of CH3NH3PbI3 is opposite to that of MoS2 (traditional semiconductors) due to the thermal expansion and electron-phonon coupling effects. The CH3NH3PbI3/TMDC heterostructures are useful in fabricating innovative devices for wider optoelectronic applications.

Shao, Xiao-Hong,Xu, Yun-Sheng,Zhang, Xue-Qi,Li, Wen-Feng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.22

Background: This analysis was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of cisplatin based chemotherapy for treating patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: Clinical studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of cisplatin based regimens on response and safety for patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma were identified using a predefined search strategy. Pooled response rates (RR) of treatment were calculated. Results: In cisplatin based regimens, 4 clinical studies which including 50 patients with advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma were considered eligible for inclusion. Regimens included cisplatin, doxorubicin, or vindesine. Pooled analysis suggested that, in all patients, the pooled RR was 60% (30/50) in cisplatin based regimens. Nausea and vomiting were the main side effects. No grade III or IV renal or liver toxicity were observed. No treatment related death occurred with the cisplatin based treatments. Conclusion: Evidence based analysis suggests that cisplatin based regimens are associated with a good response rate and acceptable toxicity for treating patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.

We present a scheme to implement the three-qubit Fredkin gate. The scheme uses an atomic ensemble consisting of four-level atoms interacting resonantly with a two-mode eld. Both the situations with and without cavity decay are considered. We discuss the advantages and the experimental feasibility of our scheme.

      • Association between Cigarette Smoking and RASSF1A Gene Promoter Hypermethylation in Lung Cancer Patients: a Meta-analysis

Wu, Xiao-Ming,Chen, Yu,Shao, Yang,Zhou, Xiao-Long,Tang, Wen-Ru Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.19

Objectives: Epidemiological studies have shown that molecular mechanisms underlying the development of lung cancers differ between smokers and unsmokers. Aberrant promoter methylation in some tumor suppressor genes is frequent in lung tumors from smokers but rare in those from non-smokers. Recently, many studies have investigated the association between cigarette smoking and RASSF1A gene promoter hypermethylation in lung cancer patients, but a unanimous conclusion could not be reached. We therefore performed this meta-analysis to derive a more precise estimation of any association. Study Design: An electronic search of PubMed and Chinese Biomedicine databases was conducted to select studies. A total of 19 case-control studies were chosen, and odds ratios (ORs) with confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the strength of associations. Results: The case-control studies covered 2, 287 lung cancer patients: 63.4%(1449) of the patients were smokers, 36.6% (838) were unsmokers. The overall results suggested that smokers with lung cancer had a 1.297-fold (95% CI: 1.066~1.580, p=0.010, p=0.087) higher risk for RASSF1A gene hypermethylation than the non-smokers. In the stratified analysis, an increased risk of RASSF1A gene hypermethylation in smokers than in non-smokers was found in Asian (OR=1.481, 95%CI: 1.179~1.861, p=0.001, p=0.186). Conclusions: This meta-analysis supports the idea that RASSF1A gene hypermethylation is associated with cigarette smoking-induced lung cancer.

        Fei Xiao,Bing-xian Shao,Huan-rong Wu,Hui-ying Fu,Xiao-yuan Hou,Xin-dong Gao,Yi-qiang Zhan 한국물리학회 2007 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.50 No.2

        Non-doped organic light-emitting diodes with saturated red emission were fabricated using 4-(2-(3,3-dicyanomethylene-5,5-dimethyl-1-cyclohexylidene)vinyl)phenyldi(1-naphthyl)amine (DNP-2CN) or 4-(2-(3,3-dicyanomethylene-5,5-dimethyl-1-cyclohexylidene)vinyl)phenyl(1-naphthyl)phe- nylamine (DPN-2CN) as the emitting layer. Different electron-transporting materials, tris(8-hydroxylquinoline) aluminum (Alq$_3$), 2,2',2''-(1,3,5-phenylene)tris[1-phenyl-1$H$-benzimidazole] (TPBI) and 2-(4-biphenyl)-5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD), were introduced into the devices for examining their energy level compatibility of DNP-2CN or DPN-2CN. The device with a structure of ITO/ NPB/ DNP-2CN/ BCP/ Alq$_3$/ LiF/ Al showed red emission with $\lambda_{max}$ at 670 nm (CIE coordinates: $x$ = 0.66, $y$ = 0.33) and a high luminance of 438 cd m$^{-2}$ at a driving voltage of 12 V. The device with a structure of ITO/ NPB/ DPN-2CN/ BCP/ Alq$_3$/ LiF/ Al showed a high brightness of 225 cd m$^{-2}$ at a driving voltage of 12 V with $\lambda_{max}$ at 674 nm (CIE coordinates: $x$ = 0.65, $y$ = 0.33).

      • Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Awareness, Acceptability, and Decision-Making Factors among Chinese College Students

        Wang, Shao-Ming,Zhang, Shao-Kai,Pan, Xiong-Fei,Ren, Ze-Fang,Yang, Chun-Xia,Wang, Zeng-Zhen,Gao, Xiao-Hong,Li, Man,Zheng, Quan-Qing,Ma, Wei,Zhao, Fang-Hui,Qiao, You-Lin,Sivasubramaniam, Priya Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7

Background: College students are recommended as the target groups for catch-up human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. Systematical exploration of awareness, acceptability, and decision-making factors of HPV vaccination among Chinese college students has been limited. Materials and Methods: A multi-center survey was conducted in mainland China between November 2011 and May 2012. College students aged 18-22 years were stratified by their grade, gender, and major for sampling. Socio-demographic and HPV-related information such as knowledge, perceptions, acceptability, and attitudes were collected through a questionnaire. Results: A total of 3,497 undergraduates completed the questionnaire, among which 1,686 were males. The acceptability of the HPV vaccine was high (70.8%). Undergraduates from high-level universities, at lower grade, or with greater prior knowledge of HPV vaccines showed higher acceptability of HPV vaccination ($p_{trend}$ <0.001). Additionally, undergraduates with vaccination experience outside the National Expanded Program on Immunization (OR=1.29; 95%CI: 1.10-1.51) or fear of HPV-related diseases (OR=2.79; 95%CI: 2.28-3.41) were more willing to accept HPV vaccination. General knowledge of HPV vaccine was low among undergraduates, and safety was a major concern (71.05%). The majority of students wished to pay less than 300RMB for HPV vaccine and chose the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention as the most appropriate venue for vaccination. Conclusions: Although most undergraduates demonstrate positive attitudes towards HPV vaccination, challenges pertaining to introduction exist in China. Corresponding proactive education and governmental subsidy to do so are urgently needed by this age-group population. Suggestions and potential strategies indicated may help shape the future HPV vaccination program in China.

      • Effect of Trichostatin A on CNE2 Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells - Genome-wide DNA Methylation Alteration

        Yang, Xiao-Li,Zhang, Cheng-Dong,Wu, Hua-Yu,Wu, Yong-Hu,Zhang, Yue-Ning,Qin, Meng-Bin,Wu, Hua,Liu, Xiao-Chun,Lina, Xing,Lu, Shao-Ming Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.11

Trichostatin A (TSA) is a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. We here investigated its effects on proliferation and apoptosis of the CNE2 carcinoma cell line, and attempted to establish genome-wide DNA methylation alteration due to differentially histone acetylation status. After cells were treated by TSA, the inhibitory rate of cell proliferation was examined with a CCK8 kit, and cell apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry. Compared to control, TSA inhibited CNE2 cell growth and induced apoptosis. Furthermore, TSA was found to induce genome-wide methylation alteration as assessed by genome-wide methylation array. Overall DNA methylation level of cells treated with TSA was higher than in controls. Function and pathway analysis revealed that many genes with methylation alteration were involved in key biological roles, such as apoptosis and cell proliferation. Three genes (DAP3, HSPB1 and CLDN) were independently confirmed by quantitative real-time PCR. Finally, we conclude that TSA inhibits CNE2 cell growth and induces apoptosis in vitro involving genome-wide DNA methylation alteration, so that it has promising application prospects in treatment of NPC in vivo. Although many unreported hypermethylated/hypomethylated genes should be further analyzed and validated, the pointers to new biomarkers and therapeutic strategies in the treatment of NPC should be stressed.

      • Involvement of ER–calreticulin–Ca2+ signaling in the regulation of porcine oocyte meiotic maturation and maternal gene expression

        Zhang, Ding-Xiao,Li, Xiao-Ping,Sun, Shao-Chen,Shen, Xing-Hui,Cui, Xiang-Shun,Kim, Nam-Hyung Wiley Subscription Services, Inc., A Wiley Company 2010 Molecular reproduction and development Vol.77 No.5

<P>Calcium is one of the most ubiquitous signaling molecules, and controls a wide variety of cellular processes. It is mainly stored in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), bound to lumenal proteins. Calreticulin is the major Ca2+-binding chaperone in oocytes, and is integral to numerous cellular functions. To better understand the role of the ER– calreticulin–Ca2+ pathway in oocyte maturation and early embryogenesis, we characterized the porcine calreticulin gene and investigated its expression profile during oocyte maturation and early embryonic development. Calreticulin was widely expressed in pig tissues and its transcripts were downregulated during maturation, especially at 44 hr, and were undetectable at the blastocyst stage. We also investigated the effect of increased cytosolic Ca2+ induced by the Ca2+-ATPase inhibitor, cyclopiazonic acid (CPA), on pig oocyte maturation and maternal gene expression. CPA at 10 µM did not inhibit germinal vesicle breakdown, but did result in the arrest of 38.6% oocytes at or before the MI stage. In addition, expression of the maternal genes C-mos, BMP15, GDF9, and Cyclin B1 was significantly increased in CPA-treated MII oocytes compared with control groups. These data were supported by the results of poly(A)-test PCR, which revealed that the cyclin B1 short isoform (CB-S), GDF9, and C-mos underwent more intensive polyadenylation modification in CPA-treated oocytes than control oocytes, suggesting that polyadenylation may influence Ca2+-modulated changes in gene expression. Furthermore, CPA treatment decreased the percentage of four-cell parthenotes that developed into blastocysts, suggesting the need for functional SR/ER Ca2+-ATPase pumps or Ca2+ signals during early embryo development after zygotic genome activation. Together, these data indicate that ER–calreticulin-associated Ca2+ homeostasis plays a role in oocyte and embryo development, and that alterations in maternal gene expression may contribute to the underlying molecular mechanism, at least partially, via polyadenylation.
