      • A New Automatic Target Recognition Scheme Based on Model Simulation and Structured Learning

        Bo Sun,Xuewen Wu,Jun He 보안공학연구지원센터(IJSIP) 2014 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.7 No.6

In recent years, more and more researchers' attention has been drawn to the sparse representation-based classification (SRC) method and its application in image analysis and pattern recognition, due to its good characteristics of high recognition rate, robustness to corruption and occlusion, and little dependence on the features selection etc. However, sufficient training samples are always required by the sparse representation method for the effective recognition. In practical applications, it is generally difficult to obtain sufficient training samples of the test targets, especially non-cooperative targets. So the key issues in the effective automatic target recognition (ATR) based on the sparse representation are to obtain sufficient training samples in different scales, angles, and different illumination conditions, and to construct an overcomplete dictionary with discriminative ability. In this paper, a novel sparse representation-based scheme is proposed for the automatic target recognition in the real environment, in which the training samples are drawn from the simulation models of real targets and the overcomplete dictionary is trained using structured sparse learning method. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effective for the automatic target recognition in the practical application, especially, where the desired features of the sparse representation method are kept.

A Case Study on the Construction Optimization Decision Scheme of Urban Subway Tunnel Based on the TOPSIS Method

        Bo Wu,Ming Lu,Wei Huang,Yangbing Lan,Yufang Wu,Zonghui Huang 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.24 No.11

Because of the harsh environment around city subways and the typically poor geological conditions, it is often difficult to ensure the stability of a tunnel, which makes it prone to collapses and other accidents. The influence of multiple factors on tunnel stability was analyzed under the same geological conditions and environmental factors by using a three-dimensional numerical simulation. Taking into account the objective environment and manual operation and other factors, construction sequence, support closure time, and reinforcement area and parameters were chosen as the main factors affecting the tunnel stability. Finally, based on ground deformation, tunnel convergence deformation, and surrounding soil stress as evaluation indicators, a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP)-gray correlation degree-technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) model was established. It was found that the higher the relative closeness of the construction parameter combination, the greater the tunnel stability. The best combination of construction parameters was applied to the Tiantongyuan Station project of Beijing Metro Line 17. All geological conditions being equal, reasonable selection of construction parameters can ensure optimal tunnel construction stability, reduce construction risks, and support sustainable tunnel development. In addition, the FAHP-gray correlation degree-TOPSIS method achieved multi-index evaluation of tunnel stability, which provides practical guidance for the construction of similar projects.

A novel phase change material-based heat sink with an orthotropic plate to enhance the temperature field uniformity for avionics

Bo Wu,Peng Li,Fenghua Zhang,Feng Tian 대한기계학회 2021 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.35 No.5

In this study, an orthotropic plate arranged at the bottom of the phase change material (PCM) -based heat sink is employed to enhance the temperature field uniformity (TFU) in the heat sink. The performance of the orthotropic plate in enhancing the TFU is numerically studied during the melting process of the PCM. The effects of the orthotropic conductivity (R) are examined at R = 10 Rb, 5 Rb, 0.2 Rb and 0.1 Rb. The configuration including a copper plate is also taken into consideration as a contrast to achieve a more objective and deeper insight. It is found that the orthotropic plate can significantly enhance the TFU by up to 4 times in the PCM regions; it can also narrow down the temperature range in the heat sink region. When the orthotropic conductivity is greater than Rb, it can even benefit in improving the performance of thermal management of the heat sink. Principles about the orthotropic conductivity are drawn and comprehensive evaluations are conducted to guide in designing PCM-based heat sink for thermal management of avionics.

A Numerical-Experimental Framework to Separate the Effects of Different Turbulence Components on the Buffeting Forces of Bluff-body Structures

        Bo Wu,Jianting Zhou,Jingzhou Xin,Hong Zhang,Fengbo Wu 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.8

In conventional buffeting analyses of flexible civil engineering structures, the differencesbetween the effects of longitudinal (u-) and vertical (w-) turbulence components were usuallyignored. This assumption could cause unpredictable errors and needs to be refined. Toimprove the accuracy of buffeting analyses, this paper proposes a framework combiningComputational Fluid Dynamics simulation and wind tunnel test to analyze the buffeting forcesconsidering the differences between turbulence components. First, the Aerodynamic AdmittanceFunctions (AAFs) with respect to u- and w- turbulence are numerically evaluated. Next, thetotal buffeting forces are experimentally measured. Finally, the numerical and experimentalresults are combined following a theoretical scheme to separate the effects of u- and wturbulence. Results show that u- and w- turbulence have different contributions to the buffetingforces, directly indicating the inaccuracy of the conventional assumption. In the turbulencefield investigated, the buffeting lift force at zero angle of attack (AoA) are all contributed fromthe w-turbulence, while the contribution from u-turbulence increase as AoA increases. Thisnumerical-experimental framework overcomes the limitations of the conventional method byquantitatively describing the different contributions of u- and w- turbulence.

Structural Performance of Earthquake-damaged Beams in Fire

        Bo Wen,Lu Zhang,Bo Wu,Ditao Niu 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.12

Post-Earthquake Fire (PEF) on frame structures usually leads to complicated and unpredictable thermal performance of damaged concrete members. In order to determine the structural performance of seismic-damaged Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams under PEF conditions, the RC frame structures are subjected to the shake table test. The test, used in conjunction with other existing seismic hazard data, demonstrates that the main geometric damage forms of RC beams after the earthquake are cracks and concrete spalling. Subsequently, calculating models of PEF RC beams are established in ABAQUS, and then the distribution of thermal field, hightemperature bearing capacity and reduction coefficient of seismic-damaged beams are proposed respectively. From experimental and numerical investigations, It can conclude that (a) the simplified numerical models are proven to accurately determine the fire performance of the damaged RC beams; (b) the thermal performance degradation caused by spalling is more severe than the degradation caused by cracking on PEF RC beams, which demonstrates that spalling takes a more important role than cracking; and (c) the prediction equation of the flexural bearing capacity reduction factor of PEF RC beams is feasible.

The average trapping time for a weight-dependent walk on a weighted hierarchical graph

Wu Bo,Cao Fang,Chen Yun 한국물리학회 2021 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.78 No.12

A hierarchical graph is a kind of self-similar network, which is widely discussed and has a wide range of applications. In this paper, we introduce a class of weighted hierarchical graphs H (n, k), which is constructed using the hierarchical product of complete graphs. The weighted hierarchical graph depends on two parameters: the weighted factor r (0 < r ≤ 1) and the number k (k ≥ 3) of nodes of the complete graph K k . In addition, we also discuss the trapping problem and the average trapping time (ATT) for a weight-dependent walk on a weighted hierarchical graph. Based on the special structure of the weighted graph, we derived the exact expression of the ATT for a weighted hierarchical graph. The results show that the ATT obeys a power-law function with the exponent ln(kr) lnk < 1 , which is related to the factors k and r and indicate that for kr = k(r = 1) and 1 < kr < k , the ATT has a linear and sublinear relationship with the network order, respectively. Therefore, the smaller kr is, the more efficient the trapping process of the weighted hierarchical graph is. Compared with the unweighted hierarchical graph, the weighted hierarchical graph has a higher efficiency in the trapping process.

Molecular Structure Design of Sizing Agent and Its Influence on the Mechanical Properties of CF Reinforced Composite

        Bo Wu,Rui Wang,Guo Zheng,Cun Zhou 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.1

In this article, phosphate modified epoxy resin (PAEK) and polyethylene oxide (PEO) were used as the mainmonomers to fabricate a composite sizing agent (TPP) for carbon fiber (CF) surface treatment. The effects of TPP sizing onthe surface morphology, activity and wettability of CF were studied by FE-SEM, XPS and contact angle. In addition, frictioncoefficients, fuzz amount and the mechanical properties of CF filaments, as well as the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) ofCF composites were analyzed. The results indicate that the defects of CF surface were completely repaired by TPPmolecules, the content of active groups increased by 24.8 % and the contact angle and the spreading time of EP on CF surfacereached respective minimum values of 43.5 o and 15 s, meanwhile, the friction coefficient and the fuzz amount of the treatedCF surface are reduced in the sizing quantity range of 3.0-4.0 mg/g. Thus, there were 36.1 % and 24.3 % enhancement in thebreaking strength and elongation of CF filament. In addition, the ILSS of composite prepared with TPP treated CFs wasincreased from 12.81 to 28.55 MPa.

      • Intravenous Flurbiprofen Axetil Enhances Analgesic Effect of Opioids in Patients with Refractory Cancer Pain by Increasing Plasma β-Endorphin

        Wu, Ting-Ting,Wang, Zhi-Gang,Ou, Wu-Ling,Wang, Jun,Yao, Guo-Qing,Yang, Bo,Rao, Zhi-Guo,Gao, Jian-Fei,Zhang, Bi-Cheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.24

Background: The study aimed to investigate the analgesic effect of a combination of intravenous flurbiprofen axetil and opioids, and evaluate the relationship between refractory pain relief and plasma ${\beta}$-endorphin levels in cancer patients. Materials and Methods: A total of 120 cancer patients was randomly divided into two groups, 60 patients took orally morphine sulfate sustained-release tablets in group A, and another 60 patients receiving the combination treatment of intravenous flurbiprofen axetil and opioid drugs in group B. After 7 days, pain relief, quality of life improvement and side effects were evaluated. Furthermore, plasma ${\beta}$-endorphin levels were measured by radioimmunoassay. Results: With the combination treatment of intravenous intravenous flurbiprofen axetil and opioids, the total effective rate of pain relief rose to 91.4%, as compared to 82.1% when morphine sulfate sustained-release tablet was used alone. Compared with that of group A, the analgesic effect increased in group B (p=0.031). Moreover, satisfactory pain relief was associated with a significant increase in plasma ${\beta}$-endorphin levels. After the treatment, plasma ${\beta}$-endorphin level in group B was $62.4{\pm}13.5pg/ml$, which was higher than that in group A ($45.8{\pm}11.2pg/ml$) (p<0.05). Conclusions: Our results suggest the combination of intravenous flurbiprofen axetil and opioids can enhance the analgesic effect of opioid drugs by increasing plasma ${\beta}$-endorphin levels, which would offer a selected and reliable strategy for refractory cancer pain treatment.
