This study explores the textual characteristics, more precisely the quantity and diversity of nouns, of Japanese prime ministers`` Diet addresses. In the field of stylistics, textual characteristics independent of the content have been examined with the aim on detecting the authors, genres, and chronological variations of texts. This study focuses instead on textual characteristics related to the content of texts, namely the quantity and diversity of nouns, because our aim is to analyze texts to better understand two political phenomena: (a) the difference between the two types of Diet addresses delivered by Japanese prime ministers, and (b) the perceived changes made to these addresses by two powerful prime ministers. It is a case study of the microscopic characterization of texts, which has become more and more important with the expansion in the scope of stylistics and the production of a wide variety of new types of texts following the advent of the Web.
Molecular Basis of the KEAP1-NRF2 Signaling Pathway
Masayuki Yamamoto,Takafumi Suzuki,Jun Takahashi 한국분자세포생물학회 2023 Molecules and cells Vol.46 No.3
Transcription factor NRF2 (NF-E2-related factor 2) is a master regulator of cellular responses against environmental stresses. NRF2 induces expression of detoxification and antioxidant enzymes and suppresses inductions of pro-inflammatory cytokine genes. KEAP1 (Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1) is an adaptor subunit of CULLIN 3 (CUL3)-based E3 ubiquitin ligase. KEAP1 regulates the activity of NRF2 and acts as a sensor for oxidative and electrophilic stresses. NRF2 has been found to be activated in many types of cancers with poor prognosis. Therapeutic strategies to control NRF2-overeactivated cancers have been considered not only by targeting cancer cells with NRF2 inhibitors or NRF2 synthetic lethal chemicals, but also by targeting host defense with NRF2 inducers. Understanding precise molecular mechanisms how the KEAP1-NRF2 system senses and regulates the cellular response is critical to overcome intractable NRF2-activated cancers.
Control Design Method of Semi-Active Suspensions with Actuators
Takanori FUKAO,Takafumi SUZUKI,Hiroaki EGUCHI,Koichi OSUKA 한국자동차공학회 2005 한국자동차공학회 Workshop Vol.2005 No.-
Semi-active suspension systems which adjust the damping coefficients of the shock absorbers have been widely researched to improve the ride quality. But the property of the actuator is almost ignored because the system becomes nonlinear and it is difficult to design a controller. In this research, a backstepping method is introduced to combine H∞, control for frequency shaping with nonlinear control for actuators, Furthermore, a velocity-dependent nonlinear weight on the control error in backstepping is proposed to improve the control property. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by some simulation results.

In this paper, a modified voltage reference circuitry using LTPS TFT is proposed. The new modified voltage reference circuitry is unaffected by fluctuations of the power supply voltage and the ambient temperature due to the utilization of enhancement-depletion (E-D) reference circuit and the operation in the weak inversion region for generation of a stable reference voltage. To verify the performance of the new modified circuitry, the circuit simulation is carried out by using SPICE. As a result of the simulation, the supply voltage dependability (SVD) and the temperature coefficient (TC) achieves to values of 0.08967 [%/V] and 0.00203[%/℃], respectively, when the ambient temperature (Ta) is +25℃ and the supply voltage (VDD) is +8V. In brief, these characterisitcs of the new modified circuitry are improved comparing with that of the conventional circuit.
Mental workload of in-vehicle device operation by eye gazing for head-up display
Daiki Kanda,Yasuhiro Tsukamoto,Takafumi Asao,Satoshi Suzuki,Kentaro Kotani 대한인간공학회 2014 대한인간공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2014 No.5
When operating for information retrieval by in-vehicle device, we need to gaze at associative objects such as displays and in-vehicle control panels. This activity by gaze-based information retrieval may induce the risk of traffic accidents. In this study, a novel technique for reducing such risk using head-up display is introduced. The use of control panels shown in the head-up display can maintain the amount of attention toward traffic condition ahead of the vehicle. On the other hand, mental workload generated by using this novel technique has not been evaluated thus far. Therefore, this paper presents the results of evaluation for the mental workload generated by the proposed technique by comparing with the technique used for conventional manual operation, using NASA-TLX during performing peripheral detection task.
Physiological Roles of Adipokines, Hepatokines, and Myokines in Ruminants
Roh, Sang-Gun,Suzuki, Yutaka,Gotoh, Takafumi,Tatsumi, Ryuichi,Katoh, Kazuo Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.1
Since the discovery of leptin secreted from adipocytes, specialized tissues and cells have been found that secrete the several peptides (or cytokines) that are characterized to negatively and positively regulate the metabolic process. Different types of adipokines, hepatokines, and myokines, which act as cytokines, are secreted from adipose, liver, and muscle tissue, respectively, and have been identified and examined for their physiological roles in humans and disease in animal models. Recently, various studies of these cytokines have been conducted in ruminants, including dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, and goat. Interestingly, a few cytokines from these tissues in ruminants play an important role in the post-parturition, lactation, and fattening (marbling) periods. Thus, understanding these hormones is important for improving nutritional management in dairy cows and beef cattle. However, to our knowledge, there have been no reviews of the characteristics of these cytokines in beef and dairy products in ruminants. In particular, lipid and glucose metabolism in adipose tissue, liver tissue, and muscle tissue are very important for energy storage, production, and synthesis, which are regulated by these cytokines in ruminant production. In this review, we summarize the physiological roles of adipokines, hepatokines, and myokines in ruminants. This discussion provides a foundation for understanding the role of cytokines in animal production of ruminants.
Stress dependence on N/Ga ratio in GaN epitaxial films grownon ZnO substrates
Tsutomu Minegishi,Takuma Suzuki,Chihiro Harada,Hiroki Goto,Meoung-Whan Cho,Takafumi Yao 한국물리학회 2004 Current Applied Physics Vol.4 No.6
GaN films were grown on ZnO substrate under various beam equivalent pressure ratios by plasma-assisted molecular beamepitaxy (P-MBE). We theoretically calculated the thermal stress caused by the dierence of thermal expansion coecients betweenGaN and ZnO. The changes of stress and critical thickness were evaluated by measurement of XRD for HT GaN and LT GaNbuer grown under Ga-rich and N-rich conditions. From this study, we observed that GaN grown under Ga-rich condition causesGaN lm to under compressive-stress, while GaN grown under N-rich condition was tensile-stressed. Consequently, interdiusionhas no eect on the variation of the critical thickness.
