Graphical Approaches for Planning ExperimentsHigh Resolution Linear Graphs for ThreeLevel Designs
Lee, Sang-Heon Military Operations Research Society of Korea 2003 한국국방경영분석학회지 Vol.29 No.2
The lack of consideration for statistical properties in Taguchi's threelevel linear graphs is rectified. We propose a new set of linear graphs for the threelevel orthogonal arrays according to the maximum resolution criterion. In the presence of twofactor interactions however, the serious bias of all the estimated effects as well as the estimated variance shows that these designs should not be employed. The various alternative designs are discussed.

<P>The first ever demonstration of a cable‐type lithium ion battery architecture with outstanding omni‐directional flexibility is described by Je Young Kim, Heon‐Cheol Shin, and co‐workers on page 5192. The Front Cover image illustrates the unique battery architecture comprising a skeleton frame surrounding an empty space, that is, a hollow‐spiral anode with a multi‐helical structure. This design enables the battery to reliably power an LED screen or an MP3 player even under severe mechanical twisting and bending. </P>

The technological effects of Makgeolli lees fiber (0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0%) on chicken salt-soluble breast meat proteins in a model system on proximate composition, physicochemical properties, and textural properties were investigated. Makgeolli lees fiber was obtained from Makgeolli brew processing, and the by-products showed good dietary fiber. The moisture and ash contents, water holding capacity, redness, yellowness, hardness, and apparent viscosity of chicken salt-soluble meat protein heat-induced gel systems with Makgeolli lees fiber were all higher than the control without Makgeolli lees fiber. However, protein solubility and electrophoretic patterns did not differ among the control and treatments with Makgeolli lees fiber samples. The chicken salt-soluble protein heat-induced gel systems incorporating Makgeolli lees fiber had improved water holding capacity, textural properties, and viscosity due to Makgeolli lees fiber addition. These results suggest that the addition of 4.0% Makgeolli lees fiber to gel is helpful to improve the physical properties of heat-induced gels.

Electromagnetic Properties of Bi System Superconductor for Magnetic Levitation Car Maglev
Lee, Sang-Heon The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2007 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.2 No.1
Effects of $Ag_2O$ doping on the electromagnetic properties in the BiSrCaCuO superconductors. The electromagnetic properties of the $Ag_2O$ doped and undoped BiSrCaCuO superconductor were evaluated to investigate the contribution of the pinning centers to the magnetic effect. It was confirmed experimentally that a large amount of magnetic flux was trapped in the $Ag_2O$ doped sample than that in the undoped one, indicating that the pinning centers of magnetic flux are related closely to the occurrence of the magnetic effect. It is considered that the area where normal conduction takes place increases by adding $Ag_2O$ and the magnetic flux penetrating through the sample increases. The results suggested that Ag acts to increase the pinning centers of the magnetic flux, contributing to the occurrence of the electromagnetic properties.
DEVELOPMENT OF A REAL-TIME FLOOD FORECASTING SYSTEM BY HYDRAULIC FLOOD ROUTING
Lee, Joo-Heon,Lee, Do-Hun,Jeong, Sang-Man,Lee, Eun-Tae Korea Water Resources Association 2001 Water engineering research Vol.2 No.2
The objective of this study is to develop a prediction mode for a flood forecasting system in the downstream of the Nakdong river basin. Ranging from the gauging station at Jindong to the Nakdong estuary barrage, the hydraulic flood routing model(DWOPER) based on the Saint Venant equation was calibrated by comparing the calculated river stage with the observed river stages using four different flood events recorded. The upstream boundary condition was specified by the measured river stage data at Jindong station and the downstream boundary condition was given according to the tide level data observed at he Nakdong estuary barrage. The lateral inflow from tributaries were estimated by the rainfall-runoff model. In the calibration process, the optimum roughness coefficients for proper functions of channel reach and discharge were determined by minimizing the sum of the differences between the observed and the computed stage. In addition, the forecasting lead time on the basis of each gauging station was determined by a numerical simulation technique. Also, we suggested a model structure for a real-time flood forecasting system and tested it on the basis of past flood events. The testing results of the developed system showed close agreement between the forecasted and observed stages. Therefore, it is expected that the flood forecasting system we developed can improve the accuracy of flood forecasting on the Nakdong river.
Dielectric Properties of Zr-doped (Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO3 Thick Films for Microwave Phase Shifters
Lee, Sung-Gap,Lee, Sang-Heon The Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic 2003 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.4 No.2
(Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO$_3$ powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with organic binder and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen printing techniques on alumina substrates. All the BSCT thick films, sintered at 1420$^{\circ}C$, showed the typical XRD patterns of a perovskite polycrystalline structure. The average grain sizes decreased with increasing amounts of ZrO$_2$, and the BSCT(40/40/20) thick films doped with 2wt% MnO$_2$ showed a value of 8$\mu\textrm{m}$. The thickness of thick films by four-cycle on printing/drying was approximately 951$\mu\textrm{m}$. The relative dielectric constant decreased with increasing Ca content and MnO$_2$ doping amount. The relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BSCT(50/40/10) thick films doped with 2.0wt% ZrO$_2$ were 772, 0.184% and 15.62%, respectively.
