      • ONLINE CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT AMONG RESTAURANT CUSTOMERS: THE IMPORTANCE OF ENHANCING FLOW FOR SOCIAL MEDIA USERS

        Michelle (Myongjee) Yoo,Wan Yang,Bomin Kim 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

As information technology advanced, customers’ service consumption process heavily shifted to the online environment, particularly social media and mobile. A new topic, customer engagement, has emerged along with the fast advancement of social media. Customer engagement refers to a type of customer behavior that is beyond purchase such as spreading word-of-mouth, providing recommendations to family and friends, interacting with fellow customers, and writing online reviews (Bijmolt et al., 2010; Verhoef, Reinartz, & Krafft, 2010). This study introduces the Flow theory, which is especially important to understand consumers’ online experiences, with the intention to shed light on how to better engage consumers in the hospitality industry (Bilgihan, Okumus, Nusair, & Bujisic, 2014; Hoffman & Novak, 2009). The purpose of this study is to examine the antecedents of flow and further investigate its influence on positive attitude and continuance intention among restaurant social media users. This study specifically examines restaurant customers who use social media through their smart phones in searching information and sharing experiences with others. A self-administered questionnaire was developed and a Structure equational modeling (SEM) was employed to test the proposed hypotheses. Study results support the hypotheses, indicating the importance of creating flow to increase customer engagement. Academically, this study contributes to the limited body of literature on flow experience and customer engagement in the hospitality context. Additionally, it provides practical insights for hospitality marketers on how to gain competitive advantages by strategically managing customer engagement on social media marketing through flow.

Full-scale investigation of wind-induced vibrations of a mast-arm traffic signal structure

        Michelle Riedman,Hung Nguyen Sinh,Christopher Letchford,Michael O’Rourke 한국풍공학회 2015 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.20 No.3

In previous model- and full-scale studies, high-amplitude vertical vibrations of mast-arm trafficsignal structures have been shown to be due to vortex shedding, a phenomenon in which alternatingly shed,low-pressure vortices induce oscillating forces onto the mast-arm causing a cross-wind response. When thefrequency of vortices being shed from the mast-arm corresponds to the natural frequency of the structure, aresonant condition is created causing long-lasting, high-amplitude vibrations which may lead to the fatiguefailure of these structures. Turbulence in the approach flow is known to affect the cohesiveness of vortexshedding. Results from this full-scale investigation indicate that the surrounding terrain conditions, whichaffect the turbulence intensity of the wind, greatly influence the likelihood of occurrence of long-lasting,high-amplitude vibrations and also impact whether reduced service life due to fatigue is likely to be ofconcern.

Anastomosing Hemangioma of the Breast: An Unusual Case at an Unusual Site

        Michelle S. Lin,Thu Ngo,Mary R. Schwartz,Rajul R. Mehta,Alberto G. Ayala,Jae Y. Ro 한국유방암학회 2020 Journal of breast cancer Vol.23 No.3

Anastomosing hemangioma (AH) is an unusual benign vascular lesion that commonly occurs in the kidney and genitourinary tract. We report a case of AH in a 49-year-old woman presenting as a mass in the breast, a site which, to the best of our knowledge, has not been previously documented in the English literature. Microscopic examination of the mass revealed a well-demarcated proliferation of anastomosing vascular spaces lined by bland endothelial cells, with focal hobnailing and scattered intravascular fibrin thrombi. No mitotic activity was observed and the Ki-67 proliferative index was low. These features were interpreted as AH, a lesion that may be difficult to distinguish from low-grade angiosarcoma or other benign vascular lesions of the breast which may demonstrate anastomosing channels. Due to the presence of atypical histologic features which can raise suspicion for angiosarcoma on biopsy, complete excision of these lesions is recommended for optimal treatment.

Development of Macroporous Chitosan Scaffolds for Eyelid Tarsus Tissue Engineering

        Michelle T. Sun,Andrea J. O’Connor,Imogen Milne,Dhee Biswas,Robert Casson,John Wood,Dinesh Selva 한국조직공학과 재생의학회 2019 조직공학과 재생의학 Vol.16 No.6

BACKGROUND: Reconstruction of large eyelid defects remains challenging due to the lack of suitable eyelid tarsus tissue substitutes. We aimed to evaluate a novel bioengineered chitosan scaffold for use as an eyelid tarsus substitute. METHODS: Three-dimensional macroporous chitosan hydrogel scaffold were produced via cryogelation with specific biomechanical properties designed to directly match characteristics of native eyelid tarsus tissue. Scaffolds were characterized by confocal microscopy and tensile mechanical testing. To optimise biocompatibility, human eyelid skin fibroblasts were cultured from biopsy-sized samples of fresh eyelid skin. Immunological and gene expression analysis including specific fibroblast-specific markers were used to determine the rate of fibroblast de-differentiation in vitro and characterize cells cultured. Eyelid skin fibroblasts were then cultured over the chitosan scaffolds and the resultant adhesion and growth of cells were characterized using immunocytochemical staining. RESULTS: The chitosan scaffolds were shown to support the attachment and proliferation of NIH 3T3 mouse fibroblasts and human orbital skin fibroblasts in vitro. Our novel bioengineered chitosan scaffold has demonstrated biomechanical compatibility and has the ability to support human eyelid skin fibroblast growth and proliferation. CONCLUSIONS: This bioengineered tissue has the potential to be used as a tarsus substitute during eyelid reconstruction, offering the opportunity to pre-seed the patient’s own cells and represents a truly personalised approach to tissue engineering.

Effects of Product Certification on Importer Trade across Borders : The Case Study of the Philippines

        ( Michelle Esteban ),( Jun Yeup Kim ) 한국생산성학회 2021 生産性論集 Vol.35 No.1

Product certification has been important especially in developing countries to protect their consumers by providing quality and safe products and protecting the country from an import surge of products that may cause serious injury to local producers. This research analyzes the effects of product certification to electrical and electronics products and importers of group E (HS codes 84 and 85), using three trading across borders importation variables of the Ease of Doing Business Index of World Bank. About 44,081 data entries of the import commodity clearance (ICC) applications of 497 group E firms applying for ICC in the Philippines have been evaluated and analyzed using mixed approach. The study showed that time and cost during importation of electrical and electronics products have an effect on importations and number of firms or importers. However, the number of documents for import compliance does not show a significant correlation to the importations nor firms. This shows that a flexible technical regulation for importers could be beneficial because of the varied effects to products being imported and the importers due to the dynamic characteristics of different industries, complexity of the certification system.

A practical guide to understanding, using and including patient reported outcomes in clinical trials in ovarian cancer

        Michelle K.Wilson,Rebecca Mercieca-Bebber,Michael Friedlander 대한부인종양학회 2018 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.29 No.5

Health related quality of life (HRQOL) is a key priority for patients with ovarian cancer as there is significant morbidity associated with the disease and the treatment. It is therefore essential to include measures of HRQOL and patient reported outcomes (PROs) in all clinical trials and ideally report them in the initial manuscript. The results of these analyses help interpret the primary trial endpoints which are typically progression free survival and overall survival from the perspective of the patients, but can also assist with regulatory approval of new drugs and inform future patients regarding the potential benefits and downsides of the treatment as well as help support clinical recommendations. Including PROs in clinical trials allows patient-defined clinical benefits to be assessed in parallel to traditional survival outcomes to provide a more holistic overview and aid in the interpretation of the trial results. Given the importance of these instruments in clinical trials, greater effort is required to improve the appropriate inclusion, quality of analyses and reporting of PROs. It is also essential that all clinicians understand the intricacies of the selection, implementation and interpretation of these measures of HRQOL and PRO's and how important their contribution is to clinical trials as well as clinical practice. This review is a practical guide for clinicians to gain a better understanding of PROs and how they can be incorporated into ovarian cancer trials.

Review : Endoscopic Ultrasound in Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors

( Michelle Kang Kim ) The Editorial Office of Gut and Liver 2012 Gut and Liver Vol.6 No.4

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is an advanced endoscopic technique currently used in the staging and diagnosis of many gastrointestinal neoplasms. The proximity of the echo-endoscope to the gastrointestinal tract lends itself to a de-tailed view of the luminal pathology and the pancreas. This unique ability enables endoscopists to use EUS in patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). Diagnostic EUS allows previously unidentified NETs to be localized. EUS also determines tumor management by staging the GEP-NETS, enabling the clinicians to choose the appropriate endoscopic or surgical management. The abil-ity to obtain a tissue diagnosis with EUS guidance enables disease confirmation. Finally, recent developments suggest that EUS may be used to deliver therapeutic agents for the treatment of NETs. This review will highlight the advances in our knowledge of EUS in the clinical management of these tumors. (Gut Liver 2012;6:405-410)
