La-promoted Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalyst for autothermal reforming of methane

Autothermal reforming (ATR) of methane over the synthesized catalysts of 10Ni-2La/γ-Al2O3, 10Ni-2Ce/γ-Al2O3, 10Ni-2Co/γ-Al2O3 was investigated in the temperature range of 600-800 oC for the hydrogen production. Thesequence of 2 wt% metal loading on nickel alumina support in relation to their catalytic performance was observedas La>Ce>Co. The excellent activity and selectivity of 10Ni-2La/γ-Al2O3 was superior to other catalysts owing tolittle carbon deposition (~2.23 mg coke/gcat·h), high surface area and good dispersion and stability in the alumina support. The reforming of methane was inferred to be initiated by the decomposition of hydrocarbon at the inlet zone, precededby the reforming reactions in the catalyst bed. Our result shows that it can be possible to achieve the H2/CO ratiooptimal to the GTL processes by controlling the O2/CH4 ratio of the feed inlet. The addition of oxygen to the feed inletenhanced conversion efficiency substantially; probably, it favors the re-oxidation of carbonaceous residues formed overthe catalyst surfaces, avoiding the catalyst deactivation and hence promoting catalyst stability.

CuInSe2 (CIS) nanoparticles have been prepared by the hot-injection method with sizes ~25 nm, and the thermal annealing influence on the size, morphology and optoelectronic properties of crystalline CuInSe2 nanoparticles has been elucidated. Microstructural analysis of synthesized nanoparticles was performed by various characterization methods including high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Scanning TEM (STEM), Xray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The fast Fourier transform (FFT) pattern of HR-TEM image of annealed CuInSe2 nanoparticles illustrates that the particles have quasisingle crystal tetragonal structure, as also confirmed by the XRD pattern. The HR-TEM image clearly shows the fringe widths are in order without any defect with 0.32 nm. Microstructural analysis results clearly indicate that the synthesized and air-annealed nanoparticles are in highly crystalline state with near stoichiometric atomic composition.

The capability to examine an X-ray image is so far a challenging task. In this work, we suggest a practical andnovel algorithm based on image fusion to inspect the issues such as background noise, blurriness, or sharpness,which curbs the quality of dual-energy X-ray images. The current technology exercised for the examination ofbags and baggage is “X-ray”; however, the results of the incumbent technology used show blurred and lowcontrast level images. This paper aims to improve the quality of X-ray images for a clearer vision of illegitimateor volatile substances. A dataset of 40 images was taken for the experiment, but for clarity, the results of only13 images have been shown. The results were evaluated using MSE and PSNR metrics, where the averagePSNR value of the proposed system compared to single X-ray images was increased by 19.3%, and the MSEvalue decreased by 17.3%. The results show that the proposed framework will help discern threats and theentire scanning process.
