        Structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of (Li1+, Al3+) co-doped Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrite ceramics prepared by the sol-gel auto-combustion method

        (Li1+, Al3+) co-doped Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrites, Ni0.5-xZn0.5-xLixAlxFe2O4 (x = 0.000, 0.025, 0.050 and 0.100), were synthesized by the sol-gel auto-combustion method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electronic microscope (FESEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and LCR meter were used to investigate the structural, magnetic and dielectric properties. Results of XRD and SEM indicate that both doping amount and calcination temperature play significant roles in crystal structure and grain growth. Also, it can be observed that the saturation magnetization and the coercivity change in a noticeable manner. The Ni0.475Zn0.475Li0.025Al0.025Fe2O4 ferrite sintered at 1200 °C has a relatively low coercivity value (62.93 Oe) and the largest saturation magnetization (110.95 emu/g). Besides, dielectric behavior is also improved by Li1+ and Al3+ co-doping

        Identification and characterization of heat shock proteins in a parasitic wasp Chouioia cuneae (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae)

        Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are known to be induced in response to various stress factors. Although HSPs have been studied in a number of insects, not much is known about HSPs in the natural enemies of insects, especially parasitoids. In this study, we identified and characterized five full‐length HSP genes (Cchsp40, Cchsp60, Cchsp70, Cchsp83, and Cchsp90) from an endoparasitic chalcid wasp, Chouioia cunea, which parasitizes the fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea pupae, a worldwide pest. The expression of Cchsps in response to temperature, pesticide stresses and UV radiation were also investigated by quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction (RT‐qPCR). The results showed that all five Cchsps were induced in response to hot and cold temperatures. Four pesticides induced the abundant expression of Cchsp70, Cchsp83 and Cchsp90 while ultraviolet radiation up‐regulated Cchsp40, Cchsp70, Cchsp83 and Cchsp90. These results indicate the different transcriptional profiles of the five different Cchsps in response to various abiotic stresses. The findings of this study provide insights into the response of C. cunea to abiotic stresses and insight into the use of this parasitoid in biological control strategies.

      • A Study on the Influence of Product Characteristics on Consumer’s Purchasing Intention: A Case Study of Mixue Ice Cream & Tea

        Purpose - With the improvement of people’s quality of life, tea drinks have become increasingly integrated into consumers’ daily routines. However, due to the prevalence of commodity homogenization, various competitive brands have emerged in the leisure industry, such as Mixue Ice Cream & Tea, Coco, Auntie in Shanghai, Dieting, and others, which has resulted in mounting competitive pressure within the industry. Design/Methodology/Approach - In order to enhance the competitiveness of Mixue Ice Cream & Tea and increase market sales by improving consumer repurchase frequency, this study conducts an in-depth analysis of the product characteristics of Mixue Ice Cream & Tea and examines their relationship with consumer behavior. Findings - Based on the research objectives described above, this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on consumers and target Mixue Ice Cream & Tea consumers to analyze the relationship between product characteristics and consumer behavior. The current situation of the leisure beverage market is also analyzed, and statistical analysis is performed on the collected data. The results indicate that product characteristics positively impact customer satisfaction and purchase intention. Research Implications - To improve the sales volume and market share of Mixue Ice Cream & Tea, this study incorporates the experimental results to provide marketing recommendations and corresponding strategies for Mixue Ice Cream & Tea enterprises. In addition, the findings will provide important guidance for developing Mixue Ice Cream & Tea enterprises in the leisure beverage market.

        The genome of the cucumber, Cucumis sativus L.

        Cucumber is an economically important crop as well as a model system for sex determination studies and plant vascular biology. Here we report the draft genome sequence of Cucumis sativus var. sativus L., assembled using a novel combination of traditional Sanger and next-generation Illumina GA sequencing technologies to obtain 72.2-fold genome coverage. The absence of recent whole-genome duplication, along with the presence of few tandem duplications, explains the small number of genes in the cucumber. Our study establishes that five of the cucumber's seven chromosomes arose from fusions of ten ancestral chromosomes after divergence from Cucumis melo. The sequenced cucumber genome affords insight into traits such as its sex expression, disease resistance, biosynthesis of cucurbitacin and 'fresh green' odor. We also identify 686 gene clusters related to phloem function. The cucumber genome provides a valuable resource for developing elite cultivars and for studying the evolution and function of the plant vascular system.

      • A Network Intrusion Detection Model Based on K-means Algorithm and Information Entropy

        Many factors could influence the clustering performance of K-means algorithm, selection of initial cluster centers was an important one, traditional method had a certain degree of randomness in dealing with this problem, for this purpose, information entropy was introduced into the process of cluster centers selection, and a fusion algorithm combining with information entropy and K-means algorithm was proposed, in which, information entropy value was used to measure the similarity degree among records, the least similar record would be regarded as a cluster center. In addition, a network intrusion detection model was built, it could make cluster centers change dynamically along with the network changes, and the model could real-time update the cluster centers according to actual needs. Experiment results show that the improved algorithm proposed is better than the traditional K-means algorithm in detection ratio and false alarm ratio, and the network intrusion detection model is proved to be feasible.

        Cyanide-Bridged Cr<sup>III</sup>Mn<sup>II</sup> Binuclear Complexes Based on [Mn(phen)<sub>2</sub>]<sup>2+</sup> and Dicyanidechromate(III) Building Blocks: Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Magnetic Properties

        Three new cyanide-bridged $Cr^{III}Mn^{II}$ binuclear complexes, $[Mn(phen)_2Cl][Cr(bpmb)(CN)_2]{\cdot}H_2O$ ($\mathbf{1}$) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, $bpdmb^{2-}$ = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)-4-methyl-benzenate), $[Mn(phen)_2Cl][Cr(bpmb)-(CN)_2]{\cdot}H_2O$ ($\mathbf{2}$) ($bpdmb^{2-}$ = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)-4,5-dimethyl-benzenate), and $[Mn(phen)_2Cl]-[Cr(bpClb)(CN)_2]{\cdot}CH_3OH{\cdot}H_2O$ ($\mathbf{3}$) ($bpClb^{2-}$ = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)-4-chloro-benzenate) were obtained based on $Mn(phen)_2Cl_2$ and a series of dicyanidechromate(III) building blocks. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows the structures of the three complexes are dimeric type with two different metal centers linked by a cyanide group from corresponding dicyanidechromate(III) building block. Magnetic investigations indicate the existence of relatively weak antiferromagnetic coupling between Cr(III) and Mn(II) ions with best-fit constants $J_{CrMn}=-2.78(5)cm^{-1}$ for $\mathbf{1}$, $J_{CrMn}=-3.02(2)cm^{-1}$ for $\mathbf{2}$ and $J_{CrMn}=-2.27(3)cm^{-1}$ for $\mathbf{3}$ based on the spin exchange Hamiltonian = $-2J_{CrMn}\hat{S}_{Cr}\hat{S}_{Mn}$. The magneto-structural correlation of cyanide-bridged $Cr^{III}Mn^{II}$ complexes has been discussed at last.

        Real-time modeling prediction for excavation behavior

        Two real-time modeling prediction (RMP) schemes are presented in this paper for analyzing the behavior of deep excavations during construction. The first RMP scheme is developed from the traditional AR(p) model. The second is based on the simplified Elman-style recurrent neural networks. An on-line learning algorithm is introduced to describe the dynamic behavior of deep excavations. As a case study, in-situ measurements of an excavation were recorded and the measured data were used to verify the reliability of the two schemes. They proved to be both effective and convenient for predicting the behavior of deep excavations during construction. It is shown through the case study that the RMP scheme based on the neural network is more accurate than that based on the traditional AR(p) model.

        Metal-Doped In2O3 Nanosphere Arrays with Enhanced Gas-Sensing Property

        In2O3 and metal-doped (Ni or Ce) In2O3 mesoporous three-dimensional (3D) nanospheres arrays were synthesized via nanocasting using mesoporous silica as hard templates. Effects of Ni or Ce doping on the structure, optical and gas-sensing properties of the In2O3 nanospheres were investigated. Both the undoped and the doped In2O3 nanospheres showed single-phase structure without any impurity. The nanospheres were about 20 nm in size and they stacked closely to formrigid 3D mesoporous structure. Achange in the value of optical band gap was observed upon metal doping. The room temperature photo luminescence behavior also showed some differences between pure and doped In2O3. Compared with pure In2O3 nanospheres, the metal-doped In2O3 exhibited superior response, fast recovery and good selectivity to ethanol. The enhanced gas-sensing properties might be related to the doping of metal ion and its effective contribution towards the oxygen vacancies, conductivity and crystallite size of the grains.

        A Spodoptera exigua serpin is involved in the immunity of hemolymph induced by Heliothis virescens ascovirus 3h

        Serine protease inhibitors (serpins) are a broadly distributed protease superfamily in various organisms, which participate in the negative regulation of melanization in insects. Our pervious study demonstrated that induced melanization by Heliothis virescens ascovirus 3h is helpful for HvAV-3h viral replication. In this study, the serpin-2.1 like gene from Spodoptera exigua (Seserpin-2.1 like) which is a specific serpin after HvAV-3h infection was identified. Seserpin-2.1 like has the typical characteristics of serpin proteins family. Seserpin-2.1 like widely distributed in various tissues (including hemolymph, fat body, midgut, cuticle and head), and expressed at a higher level in fat body, hemolymph and head. At different developmental stages, it tends to express at eggs and 5th instar larvae. Seserpin-2.1 like shows special phenomenon for HvAV-3h infection. On the one hand, the transcription level of Seserpin-2.1 like in hemolymph was significantly upregulated after HvAV-3h compared to other immune challenges Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus thuringiensis), Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli), and Baculovirus (Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus). On the other hand, its expression disappeared during 72 to 120 h post infection. In summary, our results suggest that Seserpin-2.1 like may be involved in innate immunity of S. exigua after infection with HvAV-3h. And HvAV-3h may inhibit the expression of Seserpin-2.1 like to promote the melanization of host larvae for viral replication.

      • Biodegradable Hyperbranched Amphiphilic Polyurethane Multiblock Copolymers Consisting of Poly(propylene glycol), Poly(ethylene glycol), and Polycaprolactone as <i>in Situ</i> Thermogels

        <P>This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of new hyperbranched amphiphilic polyurethane multiblock copolymers consisting of poly(propylene glycol) (PPG), poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), and polycaprolactone (PCL) segments as <I>in situ</I> thermogels. The hyperbranched poly(PPG/PEG/PCL urethane)s, termed as HBPEC copolymers, were synthesized from PPG-diol, PEG-diol, and PCL-triol by using 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate (HMDI) as a coupling agent. The compositions and structures of HBPEC copolymers were determined by GPC and <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR spectroscopy. We carried out comparative studies of the new hyperbranched copolymers with their linear counterparts, the linear poly(PPG/PEG/PCL urethane) (LPEC) copolymer and Pluronic F127 PEG-PPG-PEG block copolymer, in terms of their self-assembly and aggregation behaviors and thermoresponsive properties. HBPEC copolymers were found to show thermoresponsive micelle formation and aggregation behaviors. Particularly, the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the copolymers was significantly affected by the copolymer architecture. HBPEC copolymers showed much lower LCST than LPEC, the linear counterpart. Our studies revealed that the effect of hyperbranch architecture was more prominent in the gelation of the copolymers. The aqueous solutions of HBPEC copolymers exhibited thermogelling behaviors at critical gelation concentrations (CGCs) ranging from 4.3 to 7.4 wt %. These values are much lower than those reported on other PCL-contained linear thermogelling copolymers and Pluronic F127 copolymer. In addition, the CGC of HBPEC copolymers is much lower than the control LPEC copolymer. More interestingly, at high temperatures, while LPEC and other linear thermogelling copolymers formed turbid sol, HBPEC formed a dehydrated gel. Our data suggest that these phenomena are caused by the hyperbranched structure of HBPEC copolymers, which could increase the interaction of copolymer branches and enhance the chain association through synergetic hydrogen bonding effect. The thermogelling behavior of HBPEC block copolymers was further evidenced by the <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR molecular dynamic study and rheological study, which further support the above hypothesis. The hydrolytic degradation study showed that the HBPEC copolymer hydrogels are biodegradable under physiological conditions. Together with the good cell biocompatibility demonstrated by the cytotoxicity study, the new thermogelling copolymers reported in this paper could potentially be used as <I>in situ</I>-forming hydrogels for biomedical applications.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/bomaf6/2012/bomaf6.2012.13.issue-12/bm3012506/production/images/medium/bm-2012-012506_0017.gif'></P>
