        The effect of oriental medicines an the growth of oral bacteria(B. pumilus JU4, B. coagulans JU6, B. subtilis var globigii JU7 and B. subtilis var. globigii JU9) which were isolated from teeth, gums and tongues of patients was investigated. lt was shown that the water extracts of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. var. glandulifera Regel et Zucc., Schizandrae Fructus and Coptidis Rhizoma have the strong antimicrobial activity against every test organism. Especially, the water extract of Schizandrae Fructus has the most antimicrobial activity against all test bacteria of which MIC were the same as 0.25%. The growth of oral bacteria B. pumilus JU4 was inhibited by addition of the water extracts of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Schizandrae Fructus and Coptidis Rhizoma in the concentration of 0.9%, 0.2% and 0.1% respectively. It was tested that specific growth rates of B. pumilus JU4 in each concentration of the water extracts of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Schizandrae Fructus and Coptidis Rhizoma. From the results, the test showed that mean of specific growth rates of B. pumilus JU4 decreased 102%, 186% and 210% in 3% concentration of the water extracts of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Schizandrae Fructus and Coptidis Rhizoma more than those in control respectively.

      • 치과주조용 Ti합금의 미세조직 변화

        Effects of hydrogenation-dehydrogenation treatment on pure Ti and Ti-0.15pd alloy were studied. Pure Ti and Ti-0.15Pd alloy were conducted solution treatment at 950℃, respectively and then done hydrogenation dehydrogenation treatment. Then, the relationship between hydrogen treatment condition and X-ray diffraction patterns, i.e. the microstructure factor is examined. Ti-hydride precipitates mainly at α - β interface and also in α phase. Microstructure Ti alloy shows finer than that of pure titanium in hydrogenation and dehydrogenation treatments. Ti-0.15Pd alloy carried out solution treatment at 950℃, the transformation of α martensite was occured. Hydrogen absorption of Ti-0.15Pd alloy was higher than that of pure titanium. Dehydrogenation temperature in titanium alloy occured approximately at 400-562℃. Hydrogen tretment was used as a temporary alloying element modifying the microstructure of tianium in order to enhance fatigue behavior for partial denture.

      • Metal Crown 製作時 貴金屬 合金의 損失

        This study investigated the loss of a noble alloy during the fabrication of metal crowns. In study found that an average of 29.0% weight of a noble was lost through the various laboratory procedures. The losses were generally higher with maxillary restorations and significantly higher for anterior restorations than for psterior units. The greatest amount of alloy was lost during the preparation of the facial surface for porcelain application. Weight losses resulting from (1) the casting process and cleaning of the casting (2) sprue cutting, (3) seating of the casting onto the die, and (4) preparation for porcelain addition were invested using 323 crowns. The percentage weight losses were 9.80%, l6.46%, 35.69%, and 38.05%, respectivery. Weight losses were generally higher for maxillary restoration, but metal bond porcelain restoration on anterior teeth registered significantly higher losses than those for premolars and molars.

        Stress induced cardiomyopathy is characterized by transient left ventricular dysfunction with typical regional wall motion abnormality of basal segment hyperkinesia and apical hypokinesia after physical or psychological stress. Stress induced cardiomyopathy mimics acute myocardial infarction but coronary angiography shows normal and usually recovers rapidly. Stress induced cardiomyopathy appears to occur almost exclusively in old females. Only a few cases have been reported in younger women but not yet in korea. The pathogenesis is not well known. Currently, it is thought that catecholamine may play important role. Especially, epinephrine may be most important catecholamine in the pathogenesis of steress induced cardiomyopathy. We report a case of stress induced cardiomyopathy occurred in young female after local epinephrine injection for hemostasis during tonsillectomy. 스트레스성 심근병증은 고령의 여성에서 주로 발생하며 카테콜라민 중 특히 epinephrine이 병리기전의 주요한 원인의 하나로 생각되어지고 있다. 저자들은 28세의 젊은 여성에서 편도절제술 도중 지혈을 목적으로 epinephrine을 국소 주사한 후 발생한 스트레스성 심근병증 1예를 경험하여 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

      • 구강균에 대한 각종 약용식물의 항균효과

        The effect of oriental medicines on the growth of oral bacteria(St. mutans, St. sanguis and St. salivarius) which were isolated from teeth, gums and tongues of patients was investigated. Antibacterial activity against St. mutans, St. sanguis and St. salivarius was investigated with paper disc agar diffusion method from 32 medicinal plants. Phellodendri Cortex, Coptidis Rhizoma, Caryophylli Flos, Schizamdrae Fructs, Myristicae Semen, Crataegi Fructus and Acori Graminei Rhizoma were screened as antibacterial agent. The number of viable dental caries bacteria was counted for the purpose of the close examination. Phellodendri Cortex. Coptidis Rhizoma and Caryophylli Flos were selected as antibacterial agent aginst dental caries bacteria.

        원발성 유방암에서 Sodium Iodide Symporter의 발현과 ^(99m)Tc-MIBI 유방스캔의 관계

        목적: hNIS는 갑상선 조직 외에 다른 조직들에서도 발현된다고 알려져 있다. 유방암 세포는 그런 조직들 중에 하나이며, 그에 의한 유방암의 방사성옥소치료의 가능성이 제시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유방암 조직에서 hNIS의 발현정도를 알아보고, ^99mTc-MIBI 유방스캔과 hNIS의 발현 정도와의 관계를 조사하여 보았다. 대상 및 방법: 본 연구에서는 유방암으로 수술을 시행했던 56명의 환자를 대상으로 하였다. hNIS의 발현은 면역조직화학염색에 의해서 평가되었으며, 그 결과를 ^99mTc-MIBI 유방스캔의 판정 결과와 비교하였다. 결과: 전체 56명의 환자에서 hNIS의 발현율은 41.1%였다. 병리학적 진단에 의해 침윤성관상피암종이었던 49명에서의 발현율은 42.9%, 관상피내암종이었던 7명에서의 발현율은 28.6%였다. ^99mTc-MIBI 유방스캔에서 국소섭취 소견이 관찰되었던 41명에서의 hNIS의 발현율은 31.7%였다. 비정상적인 섭취 소견이 관찰되지 않았던 15명의 환자에서의 hNIS의 발현율이 의미있게 높게 관찰되었다(66.7%, p>0.05). 결론: 유방암 환자에서의 hNIS의 발현율은 그다지 높지 않았다. ^99mTc-MIBI 유방스캔에서 섭취증가 소견이 없을 때 hNIS의 발현율이 더 높았다. Purpose: Human Na^+/I- symporter (hNIS) is known to be expressed in many tissues other than thyroid gland. The breast cancer cells are one of them and the possibility of radioiodine therapy in treatment of the breast cancer may be suggested. We investigated the expression rate of hNIS and the relationship between the expression of hNIS and the finding of 99mTc-MIBI scintimammography in the breast cancer. Materials and Methods: Surgically proved 56 patients with breast cancer were the subjects of this study. The expression of hNIS were evaluated by immunohistochemistry and the results were compared to the findings of 99mTc-MIBI scintimammography. Results: Overall expression rate of hNIS was 41.1% in 56 patients. According to the pathologic diagnosis, it was 42.9% in 49 patients with invasive ductal carcinoma and 28.6% in the 7 patients with ductal carcinoma in situ. The expression rate of hNIS in the 41 cases with a focal increased uptake at he breast lesion on 99mTc-MIBI scintimammogram was 31.7%. That in the 15 cases without any abnormal uptake on the scan was significantly higher(66.7%, p<0.05). Conclusion: The expression rate of hNIS in the patients with breast cancer was not so high. The rate was higher in the patients with no increased uptake at the breast lesion on 99mTc-MIBI scintimammography. (Korean J Nucl Med 2002;36;325-32)

      • 도재소부용 금합금에서 주석, 동의 첨가가 도재계면의 특성에 미치는 영향

        This study was performed to obersered the compositions of oxide on the surface of dental porcelain gold alloy with various Tin and Copper addtions according to the degassing and analysing the change composition of additional elements Sn, Cu on diffusion behaviors of porcelain-metal surfaces. To investigate the micrstructure of oxidized alloy surface, EDAX and EPMA were used to investigate the diffusion behaviors of porcelain-metal surfaces. X-ray diffraction were used to observe the morphological changes in the oxidation zone. Te results of this study were obtained as follows: 1) The Tin oxidation increased with increasing Tin contents after heat treatment. Diffusion of Tin element increased with increasing tin contents in metal-porcelain sulface after heat treatment. 2) The Copper oxidation and diffusion not increased with increasing cpooer contents. 3) The oxidations of alloy surface were mainly SnO_(2) and CuO.

      • 齒科用 Ag-Pd-Cu 3元合金 및 Au添加合金의 時效硬化特性

        The Ag-Pd-Cu alloys containing a small amount of Au is commonly used for dental purposes, because this alloy is cheaper than Au-base alloys for clinical use. However, the most important characteristic of this alloy is age-hardenability, which is not exhibited by other Ag-base dental alloys. The specimens used were Ag-Pd-Cu ternary alloys and Au addition alloy. These alloys were melted and casted by induction electric furnace and centrifugal casting machine in Ar atmosphere. These specimens were solution treated for 2hr at 800% and were then quenched into iced water, and aged at 350~550℃. Age-hardening characteristics of the small Au-containing Ag-Pd-Cu dental alloys were investigated by means of metallurgical microstructures, X-ray diffraction and electron microscope observations, energy dispersed spectra and electron probe microanalysis. Principal results are as follows : The case of hardening in stage Ⅰ was due to the formation of the L1o type face-centered tetragonal PdCu-ordered phase in the grain interior and hardening in stage I was affected by the Cu concentration. In stage Ⅱ, decomposition of the αsolid solution to a PdCu ordered phase(L1o type) and an Ag-rich α₂ phase occurred and a discontinuous precipitation occurred at the grain boundary. From the electron microscope study, it was concluded that the cause of age-hardening in this alloy is the precipitation of the PdCu ordered phase, which has AuCu Ⅰ type face-centered tetragonal structure. Precipitation procedure was α→α+α₂+PdCu→α₁+α₂+PdCu at Pd/Cu =1. Ag-Pd-Cu alloy is more effective dental alloy as ageing treatment and is suitable to isothermal ageing at 450℃.

      • 한국 대도시 고령자의 체격, 체력 및 운동실태와 운동 프로그램개발에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the patterns of the health related variables, and physical characteristics and physical fitness of the elderly people in order to provide a exercise program. The data about the health related variables were collected through the personal interview, and the data about physical charateristics and physical fitness (height, weight, % body fat, blood pressure, pulse rate, grip stength, trunk flexion, side step test, 2 min, harvard step test) of 373 elderly people living Seoul and kyungkee area were collected. The conclusions of this study can be summarized as follow; 1. The test results about smoking, drinking, sleeping and self-evaluation of health revealed that the elderly people have self-confidence about their health. 2. Not many elderly people participate the proper exercise program even though they recognize the need of exercise. 3. The results showed that the elderly people do not pay much attention to the intensity of the exercise. 4. Muscle strength training for leg and the lower back and cardio-vascular endurance training was recommended to reduce the risk of varius problems caused by aging. 5. A exercise program was suggested for the elderly people.
