        OSAKA converter, which is a large scale three-phase soft-switching power factor corrected converter, is proposed. The converter switches once in every half cycle of an AC commercial power source.<br/> Therefore, it can solve many problems caused by the high frequency operation. The proposed converter achieves the soft-switching operation and the EMI noise can be reduced. In this circuit, resonant capacitor, which is used for soft-switching operation, is also utilized for the improvement of an input current waveform. The<br/> low-speed large power devices can construct OSAKA converter. The converter generates the low distorted input current waveforms with high power factor

        Characteristics of Beam Attenuation in the High Temperature Plasma with High-Z Discharge in LHD

        Behavior in attenuation of a high-energy neutral beam has been investigated by visible spectroscopy in the Large Helical Device (LHD). The measurement system consists of optical fibers, a spectrometer and an ICCD detector. A spectrum of beam emission is clearly observed by the Doppler effect. In order to increase the ion-heating power, we have adopted a high-Z discharge with argon gas. An ion temperature of 13.5 keV ± 2 keV is achieved by the injection of a neutral beam power of 10.5 MW. We have observed the behavior of the neutral beam emission in the high-temperature plasma. The intensity of the beam emission in the argon discharge is lower than that in the hydrogen discharge when the ion temperature increases. After the maximum ion temperature, the intensity of the beam emission increases as the electron density increases. This behavior is similar to the hydrogen discharge. It is indicated that the particle configuration of the plasma has changed. This result will contribute to the monitoring of the neutral beam absorption in fusion plasma.

        Construction of Evaluation Model in Physical Strength Progress in South Korea United States Naval Academy

        There are almost no reports on the process of physical strength progress in Republic of Naval Academy in South Korea. In the present study, we investigated the shape of changes that occur, described a standard age curve for the four years, and attempted to build a model for evaluating improvements in physical strength by applying wavelet interpolation method (WIM). The subjects were 467 male students of the Korea Naval Academy in a suburb of Busan, South Korea. The 467 subjects included 134 first-year students, 116 second-year students, 113 third-year students, and 104 fourth-year students. In other words, the 467 subjects were used as cross-sectional data. The motor performance measurement included sidesteps, sit and reach, sargent jump, grip strength, push up, sit up, and maximal oxygen uptake ( V ˙O2max). The wavelet interpolation method was then applied to mean values for each physical strength item from the first to fourth years for items in which a significant difference was seen with ANOVA. After analyzing the pattern of physical strength improvements, standard values of mean ± 0.5 SD and mean ± 1.5 SD were determined with the mean and standard deviation in each year as the criterion, and the wavelet interpolation method was applied to those standard values. As shown in the growth distance curve depicted with wavelet interpolation, there were rapid increases in sidesteps, sargent jump, grip strength, and sit up until the third year. In the fourth year slight stagnation or a decreasing trend was seen. Push-ups increased rapidly until the second year and a slight increasing trend was seen even through the fourth year. In V ˙O2max, a larger decreasing trend was seen from the third to the fourth year. And models of those rising trends were constructed with the wavelet interpolation method. An evaluation chart was constructed from those constructed models. The evaluation model chart derived in this study can be used to evaluate trends in physical strength with each school year in individuals. If one plots one’s own physical strength records on this evaluation model chart, physical strength trends can be evaluated. If this evaluation system were introduced in the Naval Academy, it may contribute greatly to the educational system of the Academy.

        Nighttime Cooling Is an Effective Method for Improving Milk Production in Lactating Goats Exposed to Hot and Humid Environment

        Heat production in ruminants follows a diurnal pattern over the course of a day peaking 3 hours following afternoon feeding and then gradually declining to its lowest point prior to morning feeding. In order to clarify the cooling period most effective in reducing decreases in feed intake and milk production, experiments were carried out based on the diurnal rhythm of heat production and heat dissipation. In experiment 1, the effects of hot environment on milk production were investigated. The animals were kept first in a thermoneutral environment (20.0°C, 80.0%) for 12 days, they were then transitioned to a hot environment (32°C, 80.0%) for 13 days before being returned to second thermoneutral environment for a further 12 days. In experiment 2, the effectiveness of daytime cooling or nighttime cooling for improving milk production in hot environment was compared. While ten lactating Japanese Saanen goats (aged 2 years, weighing 41.0 kg) during early lactation were used in experiment 1, ten lactating goats (aged 2 years, weighing 47.5 kg) during mid-lactation were used in experiment 2. The animals were fed 300 g of concentrated feed and excessive amounts of crushed alfalfa hay cubes twice daily. Water was given ad libitum. The animals were milked twice daily. When exposed to a hot environment, milk yield and composition decreased significantly (p<0.05). Milk yield in the hot environment did not change with daytime cooling, but tended to increase with nighttime cooling. Compared to the daytime cooling, milk components percentages in the nighttime cooling were not significantly different but the milk components yields in the nighttime cooling were significantly higher (p<0.05). The results indicate that nighttime cooling is more effective than daytime cooling in the reduction of milk production declines in lactating goats exposed to a hot environment.

        The Flexible Application of Real Options for Subcontractor in the Soft Drink Manufacturing Industry

        In the soft drink industry, especially small and medium enterprises in Japan, there is a possibility of conversion from a labor-intensive industry to a capital-intensive. The demand for soft drinks may not be satisfied in the summer because the supply is too low to meet the demand. To address this situation, this paper proposes optimal investment that integrates demand uncertainty, based on real options approach (ROA) and seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average. Two alternative options are compared and evaluated. One is the Bermudan option: to employ additional workers to elevate efficiency in summer and laying off in winter, this attitude is repeated each year. The other is the American option: to replace equipment to increase machine ability throughout the year. Results in ROA show that the highest improvement is gained if the two options are in a symbiotic relationship. Soft drink producers should search for replacing equipment, using the employees repeatedly. A temporary decision is not equal to an infinite decision.

        문학과 사회의 관계와 문학의 정치성에 대한 고찰 -동시대 현대문학을 매개로 한 사고와 토론 수업을 기반으로-

        This thesis discusses the relationship between literature and society and the political nature of literature based on the thinking and discussion class cases mediated by Korean modern literature in the interdisciplinary subject ‘Women and Literature’ class. The text of the class is Park Min-jung’s “Morgue Diorama”. This work crosses the exhibition of violence in the 21st century Korea’s digital sexual crime and the Morgue of the Paris Coroner’s Office at the end of the 19th century with apocalyptic imagination. This shows that digital sexual crimes brought about by the combination of high-tech technology and capital are virtually linked to old gender violence in human history. It also raises questions about the gaze of enjoying violence and the death of the (women) on display. This novel was read before class, submitted a book report, and introduced the case of the group presentation. In the process, the meaning of the contemporary writer’s reading was examined. This leads to the problem of the relationship between literature and society and the political nature of literature. It is empirically discussed what literary intervention is about the problems of the real society, and that more precise discussions and agreements are needed on the issues of literature and literariness. It also confirms the power of empathy and healing given by confessional and reflective writing and discussion. Students no longer want to read authoritative classics and refuse to interpret them in a one-way with fixed literary history. Then, it is necessary for the instructor to listen to what reading and writing students want in the curriculum and actual classes. This includes not only the question of which work they want to read, but also the question of which work they refuse to read. For open thinking and discussion classes, it is essential to communicate not only among students but also between teachers and students. 이 논문은 학제적 과목 ‘여성과 문학’ 수업에서 한국현대문학을 매개로 한 사고와 토론 수업사례를 바탕으로 문학과 사회의 관계와 문학의 정치성에 대해 논한다. 해당 수업 텍스트는 박민정의 「모르그 디오라마」이다. 이 작품은 21세기 한국에서의 디지털성범죄와 19세기말 파리 시체 공시소 모르그에서 벌어진 폭력의 전시와 향유를 종말론적 상상력으로 교차시킨다. 이를 통해 첨단 테크놀로지와 자본의 결합이 가져온 디지털성범죄가 사실상 인류역사에서 오래된 젠더 폭력과 연결되어 있음을 보여주며 폭력을 향유하는 시선과 전시되는 (여성의) 죽음에 대해 문제제기 한다. 수강생들이 소설을 수업 전에 미리 읽고 독후감을 제출하고 수업 중 조별 발표와 토론을 이어갔던 사례를 소개하고 그 과정에서 수강생들에게 동시대 작가의 문학읽기가 주는 의미를 고찰한다. 이는 문학과 사회의 관계와 문학의 정치성에 대한 문제로 이어진다. 현실사회의 문제에 대한 문학적 개입이어떤 것인지, 문학의 자리와 문학성의 문제에 대한 보다 정밀한 토론과 합의가 필요함을 실증적으로 논한다. 특히 대학교육의 현장에서 고민해야 할 문학의 정치성 관련 난제들을 성찰한다. 변화하는 문학 장과 문학행위 속에서 학생들은 권위를 부여받은 정전이라고 해도 수동적으로 읽기를 원하지 않으며 고정된 문학사와 일방향적인 해석을 거부한다. 그렇다면 교수자가 커리큘럼을 짜고 실제 수업을 진행하는 데 있어서 수강생들이 원하는 읽기와 쓰기가 어떤 것인지를 귀 기울일 필요가 있다. 열린 사고와 토론 수업을 위해서 수강생들끼리의 소통뿐만 아니라 교수자와 수강생들 사이의 양방향 소통이 필수적으로 요청된다.
