Preparation and Characterization of Electroactive Acrylic Polymer- Platinum Composites
Jeong Han Mo,Woo Sung Min,Kim Hyun Soo,Kim Byung Kyu,Bang Ju Hyun,Lee Sukmin,Mun Mu Seong The Polymer Society of Korea 2004 Macromolecular Research Vol.12 No.6
A new ionomeric polymer-metal composite (IPMC) was prepared using a cast membrane of acrylic copolymer, which was synthesized by radical copolymerization of fluoroalkyl acrylate and acrylic acid (AA). To examine its performance as a new electroactive polymer, the current and displacement responses to a step voltage applied across the IPMC were measured. The largest responses were observed when the AA content in the copolymer was $10.6\;wt\%$.
Recurrent thymic carcinoid tumor in familial isolated primary hyperparathyroidism
Jeong Eun Song,Mu Hyun Shon,Ga Young Kim,Da Young Lee,Jung Hun Lee,Jong Ho Kim,Ho Sang Shon,Ji Hyun Lee,Eon Ju Jeon,Eui Dal Jung 영남대학교 의과대학 2014 Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine Vol.31 No.2
Familial isolated primary hyperparathyroidism(FIPH) is associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) syndrome, primary hyperparathyroidism accompanied by jaw-tumor syndrome, and familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia. FIPH may be an early stage of MEN1 or an allelic variant of MEN1. Thymic carcinoid tumor is a rare tumor in MEN1 syndrome. Here, the authors report the case of a 40-year-old man diagnosed with recurrent thymic carcinoid tumor and FIPH. Both the patient and his elder sister had been previously diagnosed to have FIPH with a novel frameshift mutation in the MEN1 gene. Initially, the patient underwent thymectomy because of an incidental finding of a mediastinal mass in his chest X-ray, and had remained asymptomatic over the following 4 years. Pancreas computed tomography conducted to evaluate MEN1 syndrome revealed anterior and middle mediastinal masses, and resultantly, massive mass excision was performed. Histological findings disclosed atypical carcinoids with infiltrative margins. In view of the thymic carcinoid tumor relapse that occurred in this patient, the authors recommend that regular pancreas and pituitary imaging studies be conducted for FIPH associated with a MEN1 gene mutation.
3,5-Diarylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines as Color-Tunable Fluorophores
Lee, Ju Young,Shim, Jae Yul,Kim, Hong Ki,Ko, Donguk,Baik, Mu-Hyun,Yoo, Eun Jeong American Chemical Society 2017 Journal of organic chemistry Vol.82 No.8

A new protocol for the synthesis of color-tunable fluorescent 3,S-diarylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines has been achieved via palladium-catalyzed C H amination of pyridinium zwitterions. Based on experimental, results and computational analysis, we extracted a high correlation of photophysical properties with the theoretical concept and predicted emission wavelengths of 3,5diarylimidazo [1,2-a]pyridines. The emission wavelengths of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines increase as a function of the electron withdrawing nature of the substituent on the CS-aryl group of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine as a result of inductive effects on the LUMO levels. Varying the substituent on the C3-aryl group imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine changes the HOMO levels. Combining these two sites, the HOMO and LUMO levels can be tuned fairly decoupled from each other. This conceptual trend is demonstrated across a series where the C3 and CS positions were functionalized independently and then utilizes a combination strategy where both sites are used to prepare fluorophores with a large window of emission wavelengths. In view of the biological properties of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines, the developed method provides an efficient approach for understanding and preparing strongly fluorescent bioprobes.

Library and information service (LIS) of academic libraries plays an important role in the education and research activities of universities. Such importance of LIS facilitated much research that defines the quality factors constituting LIS and identifies the importance of them. The previous literature, however, has some limitations. The limitations arise from the interrelationship among the quality factors and the perception gap between users and providers on LIS quality factors. Despite the understanding of the interrelationship and the perception gap, LIS studies to deal with both dimesions synthetically are sparse. Therefore, this paper defines the interrelationship among LIS quality factors as a network model, then identifies the perception gap on LIS quality factors by exploiting the analytic network process. As an early stage study, this paper contributes to helping the quality improvement of acedemic LIS by considering the interrelationship among LIS quality factors and the perception gap on the LIS quality factors between LIS users and providers.
