Comparing Open Source Web Services : gSoap and AXIS

Web Service has been popular to integrate heterogeneous services implemented in different programming languages. This paper compares open source web service packages: gSOAP and AXIS. The comparison is based on the packages’ abilities to (1) convert Java or C++ to WSDL, (2) to convert WSDL to Java or C++ code, (3) to run as a standalone application and on web/app server, and (4) to maintain a state of the server.

Background: The classification of segmental vitiligo has been previously reported but more consensus on its classification is required from a large number of patients to predict its spreading and provide valuable clues to the etiology of segmental vitilig. Objectives: To classify segmental vitiligo on the whole body into several distinctive subtypes according to distributions and clinical characteristics. Methods: Total 956 patients with segmental vitiligo were enrolled. A new classification of has been proposed according to distribution patterns. The clinical course of segmental vitiligo, including recurrence rate and patterns, concurrence of non-segmental vitiligo, and treatment response, was assessed. Results: Facial and truncal segmental vitiligo was classified into each 5 patterns. Among 501 patients who had been followed up for at least one year, 55 patients (11%) showed recurrence after stabilization for more than 6 months. Most recurrence happened within the area of each subtype of segmental vitiligo in the new classification (92.7%). Conclusion: Our data suggest that segmental vitiligo has a higher recurrence rate than previously known. This new classification can help dermatologists in patient’s real care
Clinical course of segmental vitiligo through a retrospective follow-up study

Background: Segmental vitiligo (SV) is a distinct subtype of vitiligo characterized by a unilateral distribution, early onset, and stable disease after rapid progression. However, few reports on the long-term clinical course are available. Objectives: This study aimed to reveal the clinical characteristics of SV including distribution area and occurrence of non-segmental vitiligo (NSV), and to explore the clinical course of SV. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at four medical centers (Severance Hospital, seoul St. Vincent’s Hospital, Suwon, Ajou University Hospital, Suwon, Korea and Inha University Hospital, Incheon). A total of 507 SV patients were included. The onset age, the involvement of body part, clinical distribution, treatment response, accompanying NSV, and recurrence were assessed. Results: The median age of onset was 16 years (range: 0.4- 83.9 years), and 58.6% (n =297) were female. The head (70.2%) was the most common site of involvement, followed by trunk (16.6%), lower extremities (7.3%), and upper extremities (5.9%). After the onset of SV, 6.7% (n = 34) showed the concurrence of NSV (i.e., mixed type). Disease recurrence was observed in 12.8% (n = 65) after a median of 4.9 years (range: 0.5 - 60 years) after the first disease onset. Conclusion: This study showed that SV has a relatively higher recurrence rate than previously known and SV showed a high rate of concurrence of NSV after the onset of SV. Therefore, regular follow-ups should be recommended.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This research proposes a data structure for context-aware risk management for architectural heritage using Historic Building Information Modeling (HBIM) and Virtual Reality (VR). In cultural heritage domain, risk management plays a key role in the preservation and intervention of the heritage. For effective risk management, it is important to share enriched data between people who monitor and diagnose heritages and people who recognize the context of information. The 5W1H (what, when, where, who, why, and how) model-based metadata structure for context-awareness and the framework for linking the HBIM with VR environment which enables sharing and retrieving of risk management information are proposed in this research. Two prototypes were created; an on-site VR application for the heritage managers and a remote VR application for the conservators. The effectiveness of the applications was verified through an experiment including a user survey to compare the paper-based and the VR-based methods regarding on-site VR application, and a focus-group interview regarding the remote VR application. This study enabled to integrate risk management information scattered across a variety of sources and formats, provide contextualized information. Thereby it shortens the time and effort spent to find and share information by heritage managers and conservators.</P>
관찰·추천 전형으로 선발된 학생들의 교사추천서와 프로그램 수행의 관련성 분석

본 연구에서는 관찰․추천전형으로 선발된 학생들의 영재수업프로그램 수행 사례와 교사추천서의 관련성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 C 교육대학교 부설 과학영재교육원에서 2010년 관찰․추천전형으로 선발된 학생 9명의 교사추천서를 분석하였다. 교사추천서의 서술방식과 내용에 따라 학생들을 4그룹으로 분류하고, 분석대상으로 그룹별로 1명씩 선정하였다. 연구 결과, 교사추천서에 일화 형식으로 영재의 인지적 특징이 서술된 학생 a1은 영재프로그램 수행과정에서 적극적인 과제집착력과 논리적인 문제해결능력을 나타내었다. 일화 형식으로 영재의 정의적․사회적 특징이 주로 서술된 학생 a2는 적극적인 태도로 수업에 임하나 동료나 교사의 도움을 받아서 문제를 해결하였다. 교사추천서에 피상적으로 인지적 특성이 나열된 학생 b1은 과제집착력, 실험설계능력, 실험기구조작능력 등을 바탕으로 우수한 문제해결력을 보였다. 교사추천서에 피상적으로 정의적․사회적 특성이 나열된 학생 b2는 적극적이며 바른 태도로 수업에 임하나 과제해결이 미흡하였다. 따라서 관찰 추천이 효용성을 갖기 위해서는 교사추천서에 영재의 인지적 특성에 대한 구체적인 서술이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. The relationship of the teacher's recommendation and performance in gifted programs for the selected student by teacher‘s observations and nominations was analyzed in this study. The teacher's recommendation for 9 students selected by teacher‘s observations and nominations in institute of Science gifted Education of C National University of Education was analyzed for this purpose. The students were categorized into 4 groups depending on the description style and contents of the teacher's recommendation and 1 student was selected from each group for analysis. It was shown that the student, a1 who was described with cognitive characteristics of the gifted in episode style in the teacher's recommendation showed the aggressive task adherence and problem solving ability. The student, a2 who was described with emotional and social characteristics in episode style attended at the class in active attitude, but the student solved the problem by the assistance of the colleagues or the teacher. The student, b1 who was listed superficially in the teacher's recommendation showed the excellent problem solving ability based on the task adherence, experiment design ability and experiment manipulation ability. The student, b2 who was listed in superficially in the teacher's recommendation attended at the class in positive and upright attitude, but the task solving was lagged behind. It is concluded from the above results that the description on the cognitive area is necessary for the teacher's recommendation to have the usefulness in selecting gifted students.
