Insect neuropeptides are involved in many important developmental processes. Here, we cloned three neuro peptide genes (SfEH, SfETH, and SfCCAP) from Sogatella furcifera (Horváth) and analyzed the relative expression levels of these genes through Real-time Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) during different developmental stages and in different wing types of S. furcifera following exposure to sublethal concentrations (LC 10 and LC 25 ) of methylaminoavermectin benzoate. The results revealed that the three neuropeptide genes (SfEH, SfETH, and SfCCAP) of S. furcifera contained open reading frame sequences of 222, 636, and 408 bp, encoding 73, 211, and 135 amino acids, respectively. Moreover, the expression of SfEH and SfETH reached its peak on day 3 of the 5 th instar nymph stage, while the SfCCAP expressed pinnacle on 40 min after eclosion. Furthermore, the relative expression levels of the three genes were in the following order: SfEH, short-winged female > long-winged female > long-winged male; SfETH, long-winged female > short-winged female > longwinged male; and SfCCAP, short-winged female > long-winged male > short-winged female. Upon calculating the relative expression of the three peptide genes after 24 and 48 h of treatment with sublethal concentrations of methylaminoavermectin benzoate, it was found that the relative mRNA expression levels of SfEH and SfETH declined upon LC 10 treatment but increased upon LC 25 treatment. Meanwhile, the relative mRNA expression level of SfCCAP declined upon both LC 10 and LC 25 treatments. This result will help us understand the effects of pesticides on insect growth and development at the molecular level.

Two new complexes with 5-methyl-1-(pyridine-3-yl)-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylic acid (Hmptc) ligand: [$Cd(mptc)_2(H_2O)_4$] (1) and $[Cu(mptc)_4{\cdot}2H_2O]_n$ (2) were prepared and their crystal structures were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. In complex 1, the Cd(II) ions coordinates with the pyridyl nitogen atom from the Hmptc ligand, forming a mononuclear Cd(II) compound. Complex 2 exhibits a novel two-dimensional (2D) polymer in which four Hmptc ligands stabilize the Cu(II) atom. And the coordination involves one nitrogen atom of the triazole, one oxygen atom of the carboxylic acid and the pyridyl nitrogen atom. In addition, FT-IR and solid-state fluorescent emission spectroscopy of two compounds have been determined.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of glucose, chromium picolinate (CrP), and vitamin C (Vit C) on lipid metabolism in Korean native steers fitted with indwelling catheters. A total of 12 Korean native steers were randomly allocated to the following treatments: 1) normal control diet, 2) same as 1) +250 g of glucose by intravenous (IV) infusion, 3) same as 2)+13.5 g CrP administered orally, and 4) same as 3)+2.52 g Vit C by IV infusion. Glucose, Vit C, and CrP treatments were administered for five days. At days 1 and 3, serum insulin was higher in treated animals than in those fed the control diet (p<0.05). Serum non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA) concentration in the steers on treatment 2), control+13.5 g CrP, was lower than those on other treatments at 90 min post-infusion on days 1 and 3 (p<0.05). The expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-${\gamma}$ (PPAR${\gamma}$)2, stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (SCD), fatty acid synthase (FAS), and glucose transporter type 4 (Glut 4) in the longissimus muscle of steers on treatment 2 was higher than those on other treatments. In conclusion, the results suggest that CrP is associated with the regulation of gene expression involved in adipogenesis.

The species of Grateloupia filicina, Grateloupia divaricata in East Sea were investigated taxonmically in order to clarify taxonomic position. The ecological character, external morphology, anatomy of vegetative structure. Blade length are $15{\sim}40\;cm$, erect from discoidal holdfast of $3{\sim}10\;mm$ in diameter. Stipe $1{\sim}2.5\;cm$ long, narrowly cylindrical below, compressed above Grateloupia filicina. Main axis are long and compressed, $3{\sim}7\;mm$ broad in broadest part. The ionic liquid 3-decyl-bis(1-vinyl-1H-imidazole-3-ium-bromide) (C10[VImBr]2) was synthesized and its chemical structure characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. To improve the electrical conductivity of the phenolic formaldehyde (PF) resin, PF/graphene and PF/graphene/ C10[VImBr]2 composites were prepared via a melt blending and compression-curing process. The impact strength of the composites was shown to increase with the addition of increasing proportion of graphene, and with increasing proportion of C10[VImBr]2, of up to 5 wt%. In detail, the electrical conductivity of the PF/graphene composites increased significantly from 2.3×1012 to 4×104 S/cm as the graphene content increased from 0 to 20 wt%. Moreover, the electrical conductivity of the PF/graphene/C10[VImBr]2 composites containing 15 wt% graphene was shown to increase from 5.6×105 to 9.2×104 S/cm as the content of C10[VImBr]2 increased from 0 to 5 wt%.

Background: Loss of heterozygosity (LOH) on chromosomal regions is crucial in tumor progression and this study aimed to identify genome-wide LOH in pancreatic cancer. Materials and Methods: Single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) profiling data GSE32682 of human pancreatic samples snap-frozen during surgery were downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus database. Genotype console software was used to perform data processing. Candidate genes with LOH were screened based on the genotype calls, SNP loci of LOH and dbSNP database. Gene annotation was performed to identify the functions of candidate genes using NCBI (the National Center for Biotechnology Information) database, followed by Gene Ontology, INTERPRO, PFAM and SMART annotation and UCSC Genome Browser track to the unannotated genes using DAVID (the Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integration Discovery). Results: The candidate genes with LOH identified in this study were MCU, MICU1 and OIT3 on chromosome 10. MCU was found to encode a calcium transporter and MICU1 could encode an essential regulator of mitochondrial $Ca^{2+}$ uptake. OIT3 possibly correlated with calcium binding revealed by the annotation analyses and was regulated by a large number of transcription factors including STAT, SOX9, CREB, NF-kB, PPARG and p53. Conclusions: Global genomic analysis of SNPs identified MICU1, MCU and OIT3 with LOH on chromosome 10, implying involvement of these genes in progression of pancreatic cancer.
