      • Relationships of uPA and VEGF Expression in Esophageal Cancer and Microvascular Density with Tumorous Invasion and Metastasis

        Objective: To investigate uPA and VEGF expression in esophageal cancer and relations with tumorous invasion and metastasis. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect uPA and VEGF expression in the normal epithelial tissue of esophageal mucosa and cancer tissue and detect CD34 labeled micrangium and analyze the relationships with clinical pathological features and tumor angiogenesis. Results: Positive rates for uPA and VEGF protein expression were significantly greater in esophageal cancer than normal epithelial tissue (P < 0.05), the two being linked (P <0.05). In addition, uPA and VEGF protein expression of the high microvessel density (MVD) group was significantly lower than in the low MVD group (P < 0.05), with relation to clinical pathological staging, differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). Conclusion: In esophageal cancer tissue, uPA and VEGF proteins are overexpressed and promote tumor angiogenesis, indicative of a poor prognosis.

        Associating microwave ablation and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy for the treatment of huge hepatocellular carcinoma with cirrhosis

        Associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) could induce extensive and rapid future liver remnant hypertrophy. However, the morbidity for ALPPS is very high. This paper reports a modified ALPPS (associating microwave ablation and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy, AMAPS), which was successfully applied in the treatment of huge hepatocellular carcinoma with cirrhosis, and the procedure of operation was greatly simplified. Hence, AMAPS is feasible and safe in selected patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma and cirrhosis.

        A Study on Autonomous Intersection Management: Planning-Based Strategy Improved by Convolutional Neural Network

        The development and application of autonomous vehicles bring great changes to urban traffic management and control. As one of the bottlenecks to improve transportation efficiency, intersection management plays an important role in the urban city. When the dynamic control method in different cases is determined, the key of autonomous intersection management problem is to search the passing orders for approaching connected and automated vehicles (CAVs). The paper proposed a framework based on convolutional neural network to predict different passing orders’ total time consumption. Thus, the best passing order with the lowest time consume can be chosen as the optimal solution. Then continuous-time optimal control can be carried out on CAVs. Meanwhile, sequential model-based algorithm configuration technique is used for neural network training. Simulation results exported from Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) indicate that the proposed method outperforms actuated signal control and first come first serve strategy. The average delay of the proposed method can decrease by 42.40% − 73.05% compared with actuated signal control and 2.95% − 55.29% compared to first come first serve strategy. Moreover, it can increase average speed by more than 20% compared with the other two methods. The proposed method can significantly reduce the computation time comparing with the original planning-based strategy. At last, the framework can be applied to other regression tasks like vehicle emissions, then different optimization targets can be estimated to get better solutions faster.

        Comparative Study of DC Breakdown and Space Charge Characteristics of Insulation Paper Impregnated with Natural Ester and Mineral Oil

        Natural ester is a suitable substitute for mineral oil and has been widely used in AC transformer in many countries. In order to further application of natural ester in direct current (DC) equipment, it is needed to investigate its long term insulation property under DC condition. In this paper, a thermal ageing experiment was conducted for both mineral oil-paper and natural ester-paper insulation. The DC breakdown and space charge characteristics of insulation paper impregnated with natural ester and mineral oil was compared. Results show that the resistivity of the paper immersed in natural ester and mineral oil both increase as the ageing goes on. While insulation paper impregnated with natural ester has higher resistivity and DC breakdown voltage than the paper impregnated with mineral oil. The DC breakdown voltage for the oil impregnated insulation paper being DC prestressing is higher than that without pre-stressing. The average DC breakdown field strength difference between the test with pre-stressing and without pre-stressing clearly shows that there is an apparent enhancement effect for the homo-charge injection on the DC breakdown.

        Dynamic performance reliability analysis of rolling linear guide under parameter uncertainty

        This paper presents a dynamic reliability analysis method of rolling linear guide considering the uncertainty of geometric parameters. A three degree of freedom (DOF) dynamic motion model of rolling linear guide that considers the complexity of the actual load is established. In order to improve the accuracy of reliability evaluation, interval model is used to express the uncertainty of geometric parameters. The reliability range of dynamic response is determined according to the accuracy grade of rolling linear guide. The interval reliability calculation method is used to analyze and calculate the horizontal and vertical dynamic reliability of rolling linear guide. Then, the comprehensive dynamic reliability of rolling linear guide is obtained. Finally, the dynamic reliability of the SHS-45R rolling linear guide is analyzed by using the reliability evaluation method described in this paper. And the validity and accuracy of the result is demonstrated by comparing with the Monte Carlo simulation.

        Molecular Cloning, Identification and Characteristics of a Novel Isoform of Carbamyl Phosphate Synthetase 1 in Human Testis

        A gene coding a novel isoform of carbamyl phosphate synthetase I (CPSI) was cloned from a human testicular library. As shown by cDNA microarray hybridization, this gene was expressed at a higher level in human adult testes than in fetal testes. The full length of its cDNA was 3831 bp, with a 3149 bp open reading frame, encoding a 1050-amino-acid protein. The cDNA sequence was deposited in the GenBank (AY317138). Sequence analysis showed that it was homologous to the human CPS1 gene. The putative protein contained functional domains composing the intact large subunit of carbamoyl phosphate synthetase, thus indicated it has the capability of arginine biosynthesis. A multiple tissue expression profile showed high expression of this gene in human testis, suggesting the novel alternative splicing form of CPS1 may be correlated with human spermatogenesis.

        Evaluation of Galactomannan Enzyme Immunoassay and Quantitative Real-Time PCR for the Diagnosis of Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis in a Rat Model

        Since there is no consensus about the most reliable assays to detect invasive aspergillosis from samples obtained by minimally invasive or noninvasive methods, we compared the efficacy of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for galactomannan (GM) detection and quantitative real-time PCR assay (qRT-PCR) for the diagnosis of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. Neutropenic, male Sprague-Dawley rats (specific pathogen free; 8 weeks old; weight, 200 ± 20 g) were immunosuppressed with cyclophosphamide and infected with Aspergillus fumigatus intratracheally. Tissue and whole blood samples were harvested on days 1, 3, 5, and 7 post-infection and examined with GM ELISA and qRT-PCR. The A. fumigatus DNA detection sequence was detected in the following number of samples from 12 immunosuppressed, infected rats examined on the scheduled days: day 1 (0/12), day 3 (0/12), day 5 (6/12), and day 7 (8/12) post-infection. The sensitivity and specificity of the qRT-PCR assay was 29.2% and 100%, respectively. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis indicated a Ct (cycle threshold) cut-off value of 15.35, and the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.627. The GM assay detected antigen in sera obtained on day 1 (5/12), day 3 (9/12), day 5 (12/12), and day 7 (12/12) post-infection, and thus had a sensitivity of 79.2% and a specificity of 100%. The ROC of the GM assay indicated that the optimal Ct cut-off value was 1.40 (AUC, 0.919). The GM assay was more sensitive than the qRT-PCR assay in diagnosing invasive pulmonary aspergillosis in rats.

      • Positioning Reference Signal-Orientated Moving Train Localization in Ricean Channel

        In this paper, the challenging problem of train localization is investigated. Precise localization of rail vehicles is a key element for development of more efficient and safe operation of high-speed railway. The localization task is formulated in a 3GPP LTE-based framework that enables us to derive the Doppler frequency offset of moving train, by exploitation of positioning reference signal (PRS) placed in the subframe, in Ricean channel. Then, a PRS-oriented train position approach is proposed. The PRS time difference of arrival from positioning references eNB1 and eNB2, is calculated by sequences cross correlation, and the train running curve is determined by inquiring about the line database of track section. Finally, the train position is evaluated by combining the information of PRS time difference of arrival and the train’s moving trajectory. In the simulation, the localization performance is well demonstrated, when two types of railway alignments, i.e., straight line and circle curve, are considered.

        Kalman Filter-based Wind Speed Estimation for Wind Turbine Control

        To improve power production and reduce loads on turbine components, exact wind speed information isrequired in modern wind turbine controllers. However, the wind speed measured on the nacelle is imprecise becauseof its drawbacks of single point measurement and non-immunity to disturbances. To solve this problem, the EWS(Effective Wind Speed) estimator has been proposed as an alternative. According to the literatures, there are twokinds of EWS estimator, that is, the KF-based estimator and the EKF-based one. Where, the former is applied toestimate the aerodynamic torque, then the EWS is numerically calculated; and the latter directly estimate the EWS. Since the estimate EWS significantly affect the controller’s effectiveness, their performance needs to be clarified. To fully investigate the two estimators, there is a need to evaluate their performance on an even platform. In thispaper, we present comparative studies on these two methods. Their advantages and drawbacks are investigatedon the commercial turbine design software-bladed and compared through detailed simulation results. Finally, wedemonstrate some simulation results and differences between the KF-based estimator and the EKF-based one.
