Relativistic Analogue Hidden in Projectile Motion

We present a four-vector analogue Uμ≡U0,U)=(|V'|,V) that can be directly constructed from the velocity of a projectile. Here, V and V' are the velocities of a projectile at heights h+H and h, respectively. In the non-relativistic regime, the mathematical structure of this four-vector analogue has an exact correspondence to the relativistic counterpart four-velocity uμ=γ(1,β)c of a massive particle. Based on this observation, we illustrate the design of an introductory laboratory experiment to investigate the Lorentz invariance and its covariant nature by measuring the velocity of a projectile. The experiment may help students to acquire a concrete perspective of Lorentz covariance through their own measurements and analyses of a free-fall motion.
방향성 연속주조된 Al-Cu합금의 연화처리에 따른 미세조직과 기계적 성질의 변화

Directionally continuous casted Al-Cu alloys used the components of electronic and electric equipment need to specify the properties of them and optimum drawing condition in order to manufacture a fine wire. Therefore, the present investigation has been carried out for clarifying the changes of macrostructure, microstructure, mechanical properties, and the interrelations of them during annealing heat treatment in order to manufacture a fine wire in directionally continuous casted Al-Cu alloys. Recrystalized grains were not observed at below 200˚C in Al-1%Cu and Al-28%Cu alloys annealed, however recrystalized grains were observed with increasing annealing temperature. Recrystalization was occurred at inclusion/matrix interfaces and also appeared at the inclusions of smaller radius with increasing reduction ratio.

Solar tracking system has the asembly of remote servo control and remote monitoring. It is composed of solar illumination of the solar azimuth one solar cell sensor device for detecting a value and integrated control device including the integrated control panel for remote transmission by the wireless communication by the servo control and solar module assembly to follow the sun azimuth in response to the control signal. The proposed algorithm is verified through experimental results.
Proteomic analysis of rice leaves infected with Cochliobolus miyabeanus

Understanding the host defense mechanisms in response to brown leaf spot disease caused by Cochliobolus miyabeanus is very important for production of resistant plant. In this study, two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DGE) in conjunction with mass spectrometry was utilized to unravel changes of stress inducible proteins in rice leaves infected with C. miyabeanus. For this purpose, we firstly observed disease developmental process of C. miyabeanus in rice using trypan blue, anilin blue, acid fuchsin staining, and DAB staining for ROS detection and expressional abundance of ROS related proteins in rice leaves inoculated was confirmed by Western blotting. Proteins were extracted by PEG fractionation and their expression patterns were analyzed by 2-DGE and subjected to image analysis using the ImageMaster 6.0 2D Platinum software, resulting in the identification of 86 differentially expressed protein spots with significantly changes (p<0.05) compared with control. MALDI-TOFTOF-MS analysis revealed that 69 proteins including 42 and 27 significantly up- and down-regulated proteins, respectively, were identified. Based on gene ontology analysis, identified proteins were classified according to their functional groups: metabolism (20%), oxygen-detoxifying (13%), protein stress/defense (24%). Thus, these results for the first time suggest that differentially induced proteins may play a key role for understanding host defense mechanisms during rice -C. miyabeanus interaction.
Activation of protein kinase C-&dgr; attenuates kainate-induced cell death of cortical neurons

We investigated the role of individual protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms during kainate toxicity in cortical neurons. Treatment with 50 μM kainate induced isoform-specific activation of PKC-&dgr; according to the translocation from the soluble to the particulate fraction, while it caused remarkable decreases in PKC α, &bgr;, ϵ and &zgr; in both fractions. Kainate-induced neuronal death was significantly increased by pharmacological inhibition of PKC-&dgr; with rottlerin, suggesting a protective role of PKC-&dgr; against kainate toxicity. A PKC activator phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate remarkably attenuated the kainate-induced neuronal death. Although phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate activates PKC-ϵ and PKC-&dgr;, the protective effect of phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate was almost completely abolished by rottlerin, but not by ϵV1-2. These results suggest that activation of PKC-&dgr; attenuates the kainate-induced cell death of cortical neurons.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Recent evidences suggest key roles of abnormal neurogenesis and astrogliosis in the pathogenesis of epilepsy. Alterations in the microenvironment of the stem cell, such as microglial activation and cyclooxygenase-2 induction may cause ectopic neurogenesis or astrogliosis. Here, we examined if inflammatory blockade with celecoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, could modulate the altered microenvironment in the epileptic rat brain. Celecoxib attenuated the likelihood of developing spontaneous recurrent seizures after pilocarpine-induced prolonged seizure. During the latent period, celecoxib prevented neuronal death and microglia activation in the hilus and CA1 and inhibited the generation of ectopic granule cells in the hilus and new glia in CA1. The direct inhibition of precursor cells by celecoxib was further demonstrated in human neural stem cells culture. These findings raise the evidence of COX-2 induction to act importantly on epileptogenesis and suggest a potential therapeutic role for COX-2 inhibitors in chronic epilepsy.</P>
Musculoskeletal Disorders Risk Factors of Office Workers Using Decision Tree Analysis

The aim of this study is to prevent and predict the occurrence probability of work-related musculoskeletal diseases in upper limbs lower back lower limbs with office workers. According to US "Center for Diseases Control and Prevention(CDC)", International Labor Organization(ILO)" said that nearly 2.2million workers are lead to death due to occupational diseases or injury each year. In addition, "Health and Safety Executive" said that assessment of occupational diseases increased to 535,000 from 452,000 in 2013. International studies are being made to have a high level of attention to the factors affecting the occupational diseases, also often targets a specific job. In this study, we analyze Korean version of "European Working Conditions Survey(EWCS)", "Korean Working Conditions Survey(KWCS)" data, to predict occupational diseases that can occur with office workers.
Cases of atopic dermatitis accompanied by psoriasis

The pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis has been thought to be totally different from that of psoriasis. However, in recent years, there have been some evidences that some similarities exist between two diseases in immunologic aspects. Here, we present three cases of patients who had both atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Three patients visited our dermatology clinic with complaints of typical pruritic eczematous lesions whose serologic tests presented high total IgE and specific IgE level to dust mite in CAP test. After several months of treatment with a diagnosis of atopic dermatitis, eczematous lesions were well controlled but all of them showed several new lesions on their trunk or extremities presenting as coin-sized erythematous scaly plaques. The new lesions were confirmed to be consistent with psoriasis by the skin biopsy. In all three patients, psoriatic lesions occurred after atopic dermatitis, and in their childhood or adolescence which is far from two peaks of age of onset in psoriasis. Recent study discovered that Asian atopic dermatitis phenotype presents increased hyperplasia, parakeratosis, and higher TH17 activation in comparison with that of European American patients. This result could be associated with the development of psoriasis in atopic dermatitis patients. Further analysis in polarization of Th2 and Th17 axis in patients with atopic dermatitis combined with psoriasis need to be done in future studies.
Cold urticaria with cold agglutininemia in two siblings

Cold urticarial may be idiopathic or associated with some serologic abnormalities including cryoglobulin and cold agglutinin. Here, we report two young siblings who visited our dermatology clinic with a history of urticaria occurring only when they were exposed to cold temperature. Their serologic tests showed high cold agglutinin titer and ice cube tests were positive. They did not present any other symptoms which can be shown in cold agglutinin disease including Raynaud’s phenomenon and hemolytic anemia. During the entire follow-up period of 3 years, they have only shown cold urticaria without other symptoms. Cold agglutinin disease is included in groups of autoimmune hemolytic anemia which mainly affects elderly patients. It can be either idiopathic or secondary to chronic lymphoproliferative disorders. Symptoms of the disease include acrocyanosis, Raynaud``s phenomenon, livedo reticularis, cold urticaria, and hemolytic anemia. The two siblings showed only cold urticaria, which makes them hard to be completely diagnosed as cold agglutinin disease. Clinically their disease can be classified into acquired cold urticaria or familial atypical cold urticaria which is characterized by autosomal dominant pattern, absence of systemic symptoms, and age of onset in childhood with lifelong duration of symptoms. However, to the best of our knowledge, there were no reports of case showing both elevated cold agglutinin titer and familial tendency.
