In this study, we report the complete genome sequence of Priestia megaterium strain HyangYak-01, which was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Centella asiatica. The genome consists of 5,086,279 bp of sequences with 38.2 percent GC content and 5,111 coding genes. The genome contains several important genes related to plant growth-promoting activities, which were also confirmed with in vitro media assays.

The enzyme xylose isomerase (E.C. 5.3.1.5, XI) is responsible for the conversion of an aldose to ketose, especially xylose to xylulose. Owing to the ability of XI to isomerize glucose to fructose, this enzyme is used in the food industry to prepare high-fructose corn syrup. Therefore, we studied the characteristics of XI from Anoxybacillus kamchatkensis G10, a thermophilic bacterium. First, the gene coding for XI (xylA) was inserted into the pET-21a(+) expression vector and the construct was transformed into the Escherichia coli competent cell BL21 (DE3). The expression of recombinant XI was induced in the absence of isopropyl-thio-β- galactopyranoside and purified using Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. The optimum temperature of recombinant XI was 80oC and measurement of the heat stability indicated that 55% of residual activity was maintained after 2 h incubation at 60oC. The optimum pH was found to be 7.5 in sodium phosphate buffer. Magnesium, manganese, and cobalt ions were found to increase the enzyme activity; manganese was the most effective. Additionally, recombinant XI was resistant to the presence of Ca<sup>2+</sup> and Zn<sup>2+</sup> ions. The kinetic properties, K<sub>m</sub> and V<sub>max</sub>, were calculated as 81.44 mM and 2.237 μmol/min/mg, respectively. Through redundancy analysis, XI of A. kamchatkensis G10 was classified into a family containing type II XIs produced by the genera Geobacillus, Bacillus, and Thermotoga. These results suggested that the thermostable nature of XI of A. kamchatkensis G10 may be advantageous in industrial applications and food processing.

Pseudarthrobacter sp. NIBRBAC000502772 is a Gram-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped, auxin-producing bacterium that was isolated from the soil of a shooting range in Hongcheon, in the Republic of Korea. The whole genome of the strain is 4,803,563 bp in length, with 65.01% G + C content and 4,450 genes. The strain contains genes related to auxin biosynthesis and heavy metal resistance. In addition, it has been found to contain genes related to denitrification of nitrite and nitrate.

이 연구에서는 Microbacterium aurum KACC $15219^T$ (=IFO $15204^T$ = DSM $8600^T$)의 완전한 유전체 서열이 해독되었다. 하나의 원형 염색체는 3.42 Mbp였으며 G+C 함량이 69.9%였다. 해당 염색체 염기서열을 주석화한 결과, 총 3,096개의 유전자 서열이 발견되었다. 16종 이상의 탄소원을 분해하는 것으로 알려진 M. aurum KACC $15219^T$에는 방향족 아미노산 합성 기질인 quinic acid를 비롯한 다양한 탄소원의 이용과 관련된 유전자가 존재하였다. M. aurum KACC $15219^T$의 유전체 정보는 이 미생물에 대한 이해를 높이고 산업적인 이용을 위한 기반이 될 것이다. The complete genomic information of Microbacterium aurum KACC $15219^T$ (= IFO $15204^T$ = DSM $8600^T$) is described. The genome of M. aurum KACC $15219^T$ contains 3,096 protein coding genes and an average G+C content of 69.9% in its chromosome (3.42 Mbp). This strain can use various carbon sources for growth, including quinic acid. Quinic acid is used as a substrate for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids via the shikimate pathway which are useful in the industry. M. aurum KACC $15219^T$ will provide basis to improve our understanding of this organism and allow more efficient application of the strain to industry.
