In this paper, it proposes the efficient iterative decoding stop criterion using the variance value of LLR. It is venfying that the proposal iterative decoding stop criterion can be reduced the average iterative decoding number compared to conventional schemes with a negligible degradation of the error performance. The proposal algorithm and hardware synthesize to use the Synopsys Tool, performance validations perform through the ModelSim.
탄소섬유의 CVD-SiC 증착특성에 미치는 CH₃SiCl₃대 H₂의 비율의 영향

Chemical vapor deposition of SiC on carbon fibers was investigated to improve oxidation resistance of carbon fibers, which was performed at the horizontal hot-wall reactor using the reactant mixtures of CH₃SiCl₃and H₂ with carrier gas Ar. The chemical composition, oxidation resistance, and tensile strength of SiC-coated carbon fiber were investigated as functions of CH₃SiCl₃/H₂ ratio, reaction temperature, coating thickness, and so on. The composition of deposited layer revealed C rich β-SiC at low hydrogen concentration and Si rich β-SiC at high hydrogen concentration. Because Si rich β-SiC layer is easy to be converted into SiO₂ favorable to oxidation resistance, high input value of H₂/CH₃SiCl₃ mole ratio resulted in good oxidation resistance in the SiC coating layer of carbon fibers.

A numerical model is presented for the prediction of wave height distribution in a harbor due to the linear wave theory. The method is based upon the solution of a time-dependent analysis including wave refraction, diffraction, and arbitrary reflection coefficient by the finite difference approach. The present numerical model has been validated in several stages. The result obtained from wave shoaling effect has been compared with hydraulic experimental result presented by Ito and Tanimoto. The portion of the diffracted wave heights in a harbor has also been compared with the experimental works proposed by Nisimura et. al.. Good agreement was obtained between the present model and previously obtained results. Therefore it is concluded that the model can be applied to predict the wave height distribution in a harbor with varying depth and arbitrary reflection coefficients. Finally, a numerical example of this application for the Hwa-Sun harbor is shown.

Postorgasmic illness syndrome (POIS) is a very rare disease characterized by a combination of local allergic symptoms and transient flu-like illness which nearly always occur after masturbation, coitus, or spontaneous ejaculation, and last for 2-7 days.?In a previous case report, two patients suffering from POIS received hyposensitization therapy composed of multiple subcutaneous injections with autologous semen which resulted in gradual reduction of symptoms.?However, it might request patients’ endurance of pain and discomfort during frequent subcutaneous injections and preceding masturbations to obtain autologous semen used for therapy.?Recently, intralymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT) which requires only several injections was reported to yield symptom-relief that occurred faster than subcutaneous immunotherapy and lasted upto 3 years in patients with allergic rhinitis.?We report a case of a Korean male with POIS who successfully received ILIT that finally improved POIS-related symptom.

Objectives: The crude extracts of Scutellaria barbata D. Don (SB) have traditionally demonstrated inhibitory effects on numerous human cancers both in vitro and in vivo. Gastric cancer is one of the most common types of cancer on world. The authors investigated the effects of an ethanol extract of Scutellaria barbata D. Don (ESB) on the growth and survival of MKN-45 cells (a human gastric adenocarcinoma cell line). Methods: The MKN-45 cells were treated with different concentrations of ESB, and cell death was examined using an MTT (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay. Analyses of sub-G1 peaks, caspase-3 and -9 activities, and mitochondrial membrane depolarizations were conducted to determine the anti-cancer effects of SB on MKN-45 cells. Also, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation was investigated. Results: ESB inhibited the growth of MKN-45 cells, caused cell cycle arrest, and increased the sub-G1 population. In addition, ESB markedly increased mitochondrial membrane depolarization and the activities of caspase-3 and -9. ESB exerted anti-proliferative effects on MKN-45 cells by modulating the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway and by increasing the generation of ROS. Furthermore, combinations of anti-cancer drugs plus ESB suppressed cell growth more than treatments with an agent or ESB, and this was especially true for cisplatin, etoposide, and doxorubicin. Conclusion: ESB has a dose-dependent cytotoxic effect on MKN-45 cells and this is closely associated with the induction of apoptosis. ESB-induced apoptosis is mediated by mitochondria-, caspase- and MAPK dependent pathways. In addition, ESB enhances ROS generation and increases the chemosensitivity of MKN-45 cells. These results suggest that treatment with ESB can inhibit the proliferation and promote the apoptosis of human gastric adenocarcinoma cells by modulating the caspase-, MAPK- and ROS-dependent pathway.

We have investigated microstructural and electrical properties of self-aligned Ni-InGaAs alloy used as contact material toInGaAs as a function rapid thermal annealing (RTA) temperature. The Ni-InGaAs alloy was the only phase resulting fromsolid-state reaction between Ni and InGaAs, regardless of the RTA temperature. Microstructural evolutions of Ni-InGaAs andoverlaid Ni films were observed for increasing RTA temperature. The increase in RTA temperature resulted in increasing thesize of the pinholes formed in the Ni film, which could be associated with the columnar growth nature of sputter-deposited Nifilm. A relatively uniform Ni-InGaAs layer was formed after RTA at 300 oC, which could be responsible for the minimumspecific contact resistivity observed at this temperature. Above this temperature, the Ni-InGaAs layer underwent severestructural degradation such as the formation of microvoids in its surface area, leading to a rapid increase in specific contactresistivity.
Anti-inflammatory and radical scavenging properties of Verbena officinalis

Verbena officinalis (Verbenaceae) has been used as herbal medicine or health supplement in both Western and Eastern countries for centuries. In the present study, we examined the antiinflammatory and antioxidant activities of the methylene chloride fraction of V. officinalis (VMC). To elucidate the anti-inflammatory properties of VMC, we investigated the inhibition effects of nitric oxide production in interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and lipopolysaccharide-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages. VMC suppressed nitric oxide production, inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 expression dose-dependently without notable cytotoxicity. In various radical scavenging assays, VMC exhibited strong scavenging effect on DPPH radical, superoxide radical,nitric oxide radical and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) radical. VMC also showed potent reducing power. These findings strongly suggest that VMC may be beneficial in oxidative stress-mediated inflammatory disorders.
