The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the growth conditions of the crops and the environment of the greenhouse according to the variation of temperature inside the greenhouse. The environment sensor (i.e. temperature and humidity sensor) which were installed in the greenhouse were collected as environmental factor. The growth index of strawberry were measured to fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight, sugar content and yield according to the average temperature and humidity. The correlation between the environmental factors in the greenhouse and the growth index of strawberry was investigated by simple linear regression. The production of strawberry showed a slight difference in each location, but the production of strawberry was increased in the area close to the heater.

We developed an effective graphene transfer method for graphene/silicon Schottky diodes on a wafer as large as 6 inches. Graphene grown on a large scale substrate was passivated and sealed with a gold layer, protecting graphene from any possible contaminant and keeping good electrical contact. The Au/graphene was transferred by the tension-assisted transfer process without polymer residues. The gold film itself was used directly as the electrodes of a Schottky diode. We demonstrated wafer-scale integration of graphene/silicon Schottky diode using the proposed transfer process. The transmission electron microscopy analysis and relatively low ideality factor of the diodes indicated fewer defects on the interface than those obtained using the conventional poly(methyl methacrylate)-assisted transfer method. We further demonstrated gas sensors as an application of graphene Schottky diodes.

This study examined the neuroprotective effect of scopoletin from Angelica dahurica against oxygen and glucose deprivation-induced neurotoxicity in a rat organotypic hippocampal slice culture. Scopoletin reduced the propidium iodide (PI) uptake, which is an indication of impaired cell membrane integrity. In addition, it inhibited the loss of NeuN, which represents the viability of neuronal cells. The results suggests that scopoletin from A. dahurica protects neuronal cells from the damage caused by oxygen and glucose deprivation.
Crack-Release Transfer Method of Wafer-Scale Grown Graphene Onto Large-Area Substrates

We developed a crack-release graphene transfer technique for opening up possibilities for the fabrication of graphene-based devices. Graphene film grown on metal catalysts/SiO2/Si wafer should be scathelessly peeled for sequent transferring to a target substrate. However, when the graphene is grown on the metal catalyst on a silicon substrate, there is a large tensile stress resulting from the difference of the coefficient of thermal expansion in the catalyst and silicon. The conventional methods of detaching graphene from metal catalysts were found to induce considerable mechanical damage on graphene films during separation processes including metal wet etching. Here we report a new technique wherein bubbles generated by electrolysis reaction separate thin metal catalysts from the SiO2/Si wafer. The dry attachment of graphene to the target wafer was processed utilizing a wafer to wafer bonding technique in a vacuum. We measured the microscopic image, Raman spectra, and electrical properties of the transferred graphene. The optical and electrical properties of the graphene transferred by the bubbles/dry method are better than those of the graphene obtained by mechanical/wet transfer.

Graphic Abstract

Abstract

A waterproof membrane sprayed onto concrete enables faster construction compared with a conventional sheet membrane. The sprayed raw material, which is polymer mixed with water, becomes completely continuous waterproof thin membrane after a certain curing time. Such membranes have not been widely used in East Asia due to less confidence of their performance and limited applications despite of their outstanding structural properties and many projects in Europe, especially in the UK (at least 6 projects), which include higher cohesion at the interface and higher tensile strength. This study evaluates the material and contact properties of a waterproof membrane based on the results from laboratory experiments and numerical analyses. Interface properties of the waterproof membrane were calibrated from results of the linear block-support test proposed by European Federation of National Associations Representing for Concrete (EFNARC). A numerical model for simulating three-point bending tests was then developed and used to examine structural effects of the membrane. In results of numerical analysis, the contact conditions between the lining and the membrane had little effect in elastic behaviors, but tensile behavior of concrete lining had a relatively large effect.

Highlights

Material property of sprayed waterproof membrane was experimentally and numerically evaluated.

Interfacial property of sprayed waterproof membrane was assessed from linear block test results.

Structural effects of sprayed waterproof membrane on concrete lining were analyzed.

Interface property was well represented by cohesive contact model and damage criterion.

Significant sprayed waterproof membrane effect on tensile behavior of lining was identified.
