Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of Mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA) to support osteoclastic differentiation from fetal rat calvarial cell. Methods: In this study, response of IL-6, RANKL, and OPG in fetal rat calvarial cells stimulated with IL-$1{\beta}$ on MTA was evaluated by ELISA and RT-PCR. Results: The results were as follows; there was no significant difference between glass and MTA at 5days. In ELISA analysis, Glass group and MTA group showed similar IL-6 expression, Glass+IL-$1{\beta}$ group and MTA+IL-$1{\beta}$ group showed similar IL-6 expression. In RT-PCR analysis, Glass group and MTA group showed similar IL-6, RANKL, OPG mRNA expression, MTA+IL-$1{\beta}$ group and Glass+IL-$1{\beta}$ group showed 3 fold increase of IL-6 and RNAKL mRNA expression when compared with MTA group. All groups showed similar OPG mRNA expression. Conclusions: MTA does not suppress cell proliferation and increase the proinflammatory cytokine that induce osteoclastogenesis. Thus, MTA is biocompatible material that could be used in various clinical conditions.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the oral health knowledge among workers at nursing homes, and needs to educate them on elderly oral care. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 241 workers at nursing homes in Gwangju and Jeonnam, Korea from May to June, 2016. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 19.0 program for independent t-test or one-way ANOVA analysis. Results: The data analysis showed that workers at nursing homes had lower knowledge about periodontal diseases (65.1%) than about denture management (78.5%). The knowledge of periodontal disease and denture management of workers with experience of oral care education for elderly was significantly higher than that of non-experienced ones (p<0.01). On the question whether those workers should get oral health care education is necessary or not, respondents answered positively (They scored 4.10 points on the 5-point Likert scale from 1 point - Not at all to 5 points - definitely yes). Conclusions: It is necessary to provide elderly oral care education to workers at nursing homes. Furthermore, oral health professionals should be deployed for systematic and practical oral care for elderly.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the location requirments of Artillery firing range. To this end, we selected several representative firing range and analyzed their capability and constraint. We considered not only the conventional ammunitions, but also state-of-art ammunitions such as a 155㎜ hybrid ammunition and new Multiple Launched Rocket System ammunition. Based on the analysis result, we could derive essential requirements for the long-distance fire range. But in reality, there are so many limitations to construct an artillery firing range in South Korea. This is attributed to the fact that many local residents oppose strenuously due to the potential hazard of artillery shell such as noise, accidental firing, decrease of land price. Thus, we can arrive at a conclusion that it is virtually impossible to satisfy all requirements for the optimal firing range for the long-distance fire training due to the budget for purchase of safety area and compensation for residents. Thus we propose alternative ways such as a naval firing range or mobile harbor type firing range by using Jack-up barges.

The fuel cell based auxiliary power unit (APU) is promising for power source of armed vehicles due to its silence and high efficiency. Especially, the on board hydrogen generation and fed to fuel cell system was core technology of this power system. In this study, we analyzed the performance of the Auto thermal reactor (ATR) that produce the hydrogen from the fuel, integrated High temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cell (HT-PEFC) by Aspen plus software. The fuel was designed as a n-dodecane for analysis of military fuel (JP-8).

The aims of this study were to establish the effect of gender and age on number of fungiform papillae and electrogustometric thresholds of the tongue, and to determine the relation between number of fungiform papillae and electrogustometric threshold. Sixty-two healthy subjects of 20 to 39 years old were enrolled in this study. Examination areas were defined as center, anterior, left lateral, right lateral, and posterior on the dorsal surface of the tongue, which was stained with methylene blue dye and photographed with a scale bar on it. The number of fungiform papillae within $1\; cm^2$ square area of each examination site was counted twice. The counted values were averaged to produce means. Taste thresholds were measured three times on each examination area using an electrogustometer. Means of the threshold values were calculated. 1. The number of fungiform papillae was the largest at the anterior examination area, followed by right lateral, left lateral, posterior and central. Women had more fungiform papillae than men at anterior, right lateral, and center areas. Subjects in twenties showed more fungiform papillae than those in thirties at anterior, right lateral, and left lateral areas. 2. Anterior area of the tongue measured the lowest electrogustometric threshold, followed by left lateral, right lateral, posterior and center. The threshold was higher in men at anterior and right lateral areas. The subjects in thirties had higher threshold only at right lateral area than those in twenties. 3. Electrogustometric threshold was inversely correlated with the number of fungiform papillae at anterior and posterior areas. The results showed that the number of fungiform papillae and taste threshold varied according to tongue locus, and they were influenced by age and gender. The results also suggested that the number of fungiform papillae was related to electrogustometric threshold inversely.
미란형 구강편평태선과 재발성 아프타성 구내염 환자들의 비자극성 전타액내 T림프구 조절인자들의 발현 양상

Erosive oral lichen planus (EOLP) and recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) are T-cell mediated inflammatory immune disorders. It was investigated mRNA expression pattern of several regulatory factors, such as, CD28, CD45, CD152, CD154, CD279, which influence T lymphocyte in unstimulated whole saliva (UWS) of EOLP and RAS patients. It was collected unstimulated whole saliva during 10 minute in EOLP 18 people, RAS patients 12 people, healthy control 8 people. We investigated mRNA expression of T lymphocyte regulatory factors, such as, CD28, CD45, CD152, CD154, CD279, with real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. In EOLP group, CD45, CD279 expressed higher and CD154 expressed lower than control. In RAS, CD45, CD270 expressed higher and CD28, CD154 expressed lower than control. In addition CD152 salivary mRNA expression of EOLP is higher than that of RAS. The above results were suggested that the mRNA expression of T lymphocyte regulatory factors in unstimulated whole saliva of EOLP and RAS contributes to diagnosis of diseases.

Purpose: Autogenous transplantation of teeth can be defined as transplantation of teeth from one site to another in the same individual, involving transfer of impacted or erupted teeth into extraction sites or surgically prepared sockets". Successful autogenous transplantation of teeth depends upon a complex variety of factors. Such factors include damage to the periodontal ligament of the donor tooth, residual bone height of the recipient site, extra-oral time of tooth during surgery. Schwartz and Andreasen previously reported that autogenous transplantation of teeth with incomplete root formation demonstrated higher success rate than that of teeth with complete root formation. Gault and Mejare yielded similar rate of successful autogenous transplantation both in teeth with complete root formation and in teeth with incomplete root formation when appropriate cases were selected. This case report was aimed at the clinical and radiographic view in autogenous transplantation of teeth with complete root formation. Materials and Methods: Patients who presented to the department of periodontics, Chonnam National University Hospital underwent autogenous transplantation of teeth. One patient had vertical root fracture in a upper right second molar and upper left third molar was transplanted. And another patient who needed orthodontic treatment had residual root due to caries on upper right first premolar. Upper right premolar was extracted and lower right second premolar was transplanted. Six months later, orthodontic force was applied. Results: 7 months or 11/2 year later, each patient had clinically shallow pocket depth and normal tooth mobility. Root resorption and bone loss were not observed in radiograph and function was maintained successfully. Conclusion: Autogenous transplantation is considered as a predictive procedure when it is performed for the appropriate indication and when maintenance is achieved through regular radiographic taking and follow-up.
Ti-8Ta-3Nb 합금의 표면처리에 의한 백서 두개관 세포의 반응

Purpose: Ti-6Al-4V alloy is widely used as an implant material because of its good biocompatibility and good mechanical property compared with commercial pure titanium. Otherwise, toxicity of aluminum and vanadium in vivo has been reported. Ti-8Ta-3Nb alloy is recently developed in the R&D Center for Ti and Special Alloys and it was reported that this alloy has high mechanical strength, no cytotoxicity and similar biocompatibility to commercial pure titanium, but many studies are needed for its clinical use. In these experiment, we carried out different surface treatment on each Ti-8Ta-3Nb alloy disks, then cultured cell on it and assessed biological response. Materials and Methods: cpTi, Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-8Ta-3Nb alloy disks were prepared and carried out sandblasting and acid etching (SLA) or alkali-heat treatment (AH) on the Ti-8Ta-3Nb alloy disks. We cultured primary rat calvarial cells on each surface and assessed early cell attachment and proliferation by scanning electron microscopy, cell proliferation, alkaline phosphatase activity. Result: The rates of cell proliferation on the cpTi, Ti-8Ta-3Nb AH disks were higher than others (p<0.05) and alkaline phosphatase activity was significantly enhanced on the Ti-STa-8Nb AH disks(p<0.05). Conclusion: Most favorable cell response was shown on the Ti-8Ta-3Nb AH surfaces. It is supposed that alkali-heat treatment of the Ti-8Ta-3Nb alloy could be induced earlier bone healing and osseointegration than smooth surface.
