韓國人 兒童(6才∼11才)의 血淸鐵, 不飽和鐵結合(UIBC) 및 總鐵結合能(TIBC)의 正常値를 調査하기 위하여 男兒34名과 女兒 34名을 對象으로하여 檢査한 結果는 다음과 같았다. 血淸鐵 : 男兒 135±30 (74-196)㎍/100㎖ 女兒115±34 (47-183)㎍/100㎖ UIBC 男兒 237±41 (155-319)㎍/100㎖ 女兒 225±46 (133±317)㎍/100㎖ TIBC : 男兒 366±32 (302-430)㎍/100㎖ 女兒 330±41 (248-412)㎍/100㎖ %Saturation : 男兒 37.1±8.0(21-53)% 女兒 34.6±11.9(21-59)% 以上의 値들은 成人의 그것과 比較해서 別 差異가 없었다. 그리고 大體的으로 女兒의 값이 男兒의 그것 보다 떨어지는 結果로 보였다. This paper has been caried out to determine the normal values for serum iron and iron binding capacity of Korean children, and to compare with that of adult men Non-festing blood specimens were collected from 34 males and 34 females in the morning (am. 9-10). Serum iron was estimated by the modified method of Barkan-Walker's, and the total iron binding capacity by Ramsay method. The results obtained were as follows: Serum iron: male 135-30ug 100ml (range; 74-196) female 115-34ug 100ml (range; 47-183) U.I.B.C. : male 237-41ug 100ml (range; 155-319) female 225-46ug 100ml (range; 133-317) T.I.B.C. : male 366-32ug 100ml (range; 302-412) female 330-41ug 100ml (range; 248-412) % Saturation:male 37.1-8.0% (range;21-53) gemale 34.6-11.9%(range;21-59) These normal values of children were no significant difference between that of adults which are reported by other investigators.

This paper dealt with the propagation characteristics of acoustic signals produced by partial discharges and the positioning of PD origin in insulation oil to develop insulation diagnostic techniques of oil-immerged transformers. Electrode systems such as needle to plane, plane to plane, and particle electrodes were fabricated to simulate some defects of power transformers. In addition, the frequency spectrum and propagation characteristics of acoustic signals with partial discharge (PD) in insulation oil were analyzed. Although there were differences based on the type of defect, the frequency spectra of the acoustic signals measured by wide and narrow band acoustic emission (AE) sensors were distributed in the range of 50 kHz-400 kHz. Therefore, a narrowband AE sensor is suitable for the diagnosis of oil-immersed power transformers. We could find the position of the PD source with an error margin of 10% in the experiments by calculating the position of the PD occurrence using the time difference of arrival measured by five AE sensors.
Squamous cell carcinoma on vitiligo lesion

Vitiligo is frequent depigmenting disorder manifasting milk-white maculopatch with well-defined borders. Histologically vitiligo is characterized by progressive destruction of epidermal melanocyte. A 72-year-old Korean woman who was a farmer presented with 3-month history of painful erythematous protruding crusted mass on the posterior neck. The mass was surrounded by pre-existing vitiligo lesion which was seen more than 50 years ago. Histopathologic examination of the lesion revealed squamous cell carcinoma. As the lesion is highly infiltrative, complete wide excision of the lesion was done. The relationship between vitiligo and squamous cell carinoma still remain conflicting. In general, melanin is known to protect the skin aginast harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. According to this hypothesis, it is possible that patients with vitiligo area predisposed to solar damage causing malignancies like squamous cell carcinoma and actinic keratosis. However, it is recently reported that skin cancer in vilitigo lesion is less likely to occur. We report this case because squamous cell carcinoma on vitiligo lesion is rare but still can be occurred. Therefore skin lesion occurred on long lasting vitiligo like our patient has carefully approached and skin biopsy of malignancy suspicious lesion should be done.
