Etch rate, surface roughness and microstructure as plasma resistance were evaluated for six kinds of oxide glass with different compositions. Borosilicate glass (BS) was found to be etched at the highest etch rate and zinc aluminum phosphate glass (ZAP) showed a relatively lower etch rate than borosilicate. On the other hand, the etching rate of calcium aluminosilicate glass (CAS) was measured to be similar to that of sintered alumina while yttrium aluminosilicate glass (YAS) showed the lowest etch rate. Such different etch rates by mixture plasma as a function of glass compositions was dependent on whether or not fluoride compounds were formed on glass and sublimated in high vacuum. Especially, in view that $CaF_2$ and $YF_3$ with high sublimation points were formed on the surface of CAS and YAS glasses, both CAS and YAS glasses were considered to be a good candidate for protective coating materials on the damaged polycrystalline ceramics parts in semi-conductor and display processes.

<P> Mepivacaine is an aminoamide-linked local anesthetic with an intermediate duration that intrinsically produces vasoconstriction both in vivo and in vitro. The aims of this in-vitro study were to examine the direct effect of mepivacaine in isolated rat aortic rings and to determine the associated cellular mechanism with a particular focus on endothelium-derived vasodilators, which modulate vascular tone. In the aortic rings with or without endothelium, cumulative mepivacaine concentration-response curves were generated in the presence or absence of the following antagonists: N<SUP>ω</SUP>-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester [l-NAME], indomethacin, fluconazole, methylene blue, 1H-[1,2,4]oxadiazolo[4,3-a]quinoxalin-1-one [ODQ], verapamil, and calcium-free Krebs solution. Mepivacaine produced vasoconstriction at low concentrations (1 × 10<SUP>−3</SUP> and 3 × 10<SUP>−3</SUP> mol/L) followed by vasodilation at a high concentration (1 × 10<SUP>−2</SUP> mol/L). The mepivacaine-induced contraction was higher in endothelium-denuded aortae than in endothelium-intact aortae. Pretreatment with l-NAME, ODQ, and methylene blue enhanced mepivacaine-induced contraction in the endothelium-intact rings, whereas fluconazole had no effect. Indomethacin slightly attenuated mepivacaine-induced contraction, whereas verapamil and calcium-free Krebs solution more strongly attenuated this contraction. The vasoconstriction induced by mepivacaine is attenuated mainly by the endothelial nitric oxide - cyclic guanosine monophosphate pathway. In addition, mepivacaine-induced contraction involves cyclooxygenase pathway activation and extracellular calcium influx via voltage-operated calcium channels. </P>
Indigo carmine enhances phenylephrine-induced contractions in an isolated rat aorta

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>The intravenous administration of indigo carmine has been reported to produce transiently increased blood pressure in patients. The goal of this <I>in vitro</I> study was to examine the effect of indigo carmine on phenylephrine-induced contractions in an isolated rat aorta and to determine the associated cellular mechanism with particular focus on the endothelium-derived vasodilators.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>The concentration-response curves for phenylephrine were generated in the presence or absence of indigo carmine. Phenylephrine concentration-response curves were generated for the endothelium-intact rings pretreated independently with a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, N<SUB>ω</SUB>-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), a cyclooxygenase inhibitor, indomethacin, and a low-molecular-weight superoxide anion scavenger, tiron, in the presence or absence of indigo carmine. The fluorescence of oxidized dichlorofluorescein was measured in rat aortic vascular smooth muscle cells cultured in the control, indigo carmine alone and tiron plus indigo carmine.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Indigo carmine (10<SUP>-5</SUP> M) increased the phenylephrine-induced maximum contraction in the endothelium-intact rings with or without indomethacin, whereas indigo carmine produced a slight leftward shift in the phenylephrine concentration-response curves in the endothelium-denuded rings and L-NAME-pretreated endothelium-intact rings. In the endothelium-intact rings pretreated with tiron (10<SUP>-2</SUP> M), indigo carmine did not alter phenylephrine concentration-response curves significantly. Indigo carmine (10<SUP>-5</SUP> M) increased the fluorescence of oxidized dichlorofluorescein in the vascular smooth muscle cells, whereas tiron abolished the indigo carmine-induced increase in oxidized dichlorofluorescein fluorescence.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Indigo carmine increases the phenylephrine-induced contraction mainly through an endothelium-dependent mechanism involving the inactivation of nitric oxide caused by the increased production of reactive oxygen species.</P>
Genome-Wide Association Study of Rice Core Set Related to Grain Weight

Rice is being consumed in over 50% of the world's population, and it is main food in Korea. Many accessions of rice have been utilized for breeding purposes such as the use for functional food, disease resistance, improved quality and yield. In this study, the 1000-grain weight, one of important components for yield in rice, was investigated and analyzed by conducting a genome-wide association study (GWAS) using whole genome SNP genotype data on 295 Korean rice core sets. Four genes, Os01g0315700, Os03g0604566, Os04g0413500 and Os05g0216950, are significantly associated with 1000-grain weight. We presume carefully that the function of these kind genes will help in the selection of intermediate parents with high yield and genetic markers to develop new varieties.
Synthesis of Nano ITO Powders Prepared by Solvothermal Process

<P>In order to provide higher driving forces for densification of Indium-Tin oxide(ITO) sputtering targets, nano-sized ITO powders with uniform size distribution were prepared by solvothermal process. In this study, sintered bodies were densified by a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process at 950 oC. The experiments conduct the SPS method in order to achieve the highest density of sputtering targets. The phase and relative density of ITO sputtering targets were identified by X-ray diffractometry_(XRD) and Archimedes method, respectively. The surface microstructure and quanitative analysis of the targets were observed by scanning scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and ITO powders particle were measured by SEM, XRD-LB methods.</P>
Role of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone for preparation of Fe3O4@SiO2 controlled the shell thickness

<P>We developed a simple and novel approach for the synthesis of Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles with controlled shell thickness, and studied the mechanism. The introduction of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) led to trapping of monomer nuclei in single shell and controlled the shell thickness. Fe3O4@SiO2 controlled the shell thickness, showing a high magnetization value (64.47 emu/g). Our results reveal the role and change in the chemical structure of NMP during the core-shell synthesis process. NMP decomposed to 4-aminobutanoic acid in alkaline condition and decreased the hydrolysis rate of the silica coating process.</P>
구조방정식 모델을 이용한 농업 마이스터 대학 교육프로그램 교육효과성 연구

This study was designed to identify factors affecting the educational effect of Agriculture Meister College education programs with the sample of Agriculture Meister College students. The study set up a general structural model which included accessibility, self-efficacy, and social norm as exogenous variables and perceived easiness, perceived usefulness, attitude, and educational effect as endogenous variables. The result proved the model to be a good enough to understand the educational effect of Agricultural Meister Program based on the goodness fit statistical results. According to the results of parameter estimates and significance, easiness and usefulness among the endogenous variables were identified having direct effects on the educational effect, key endogenous variable. Meanwhile, only accessibility was found having direct effect on the educational effect. In addition, accessibility and self-efficacy were determined having indirect effects on the educational effect through easiness as an intervening variable. Further, self-efficacy and social norm were identified having indirect effects on the educational effect via usefulness. To sum up these results, it is suggested that easiness and usefulness are important variables compared to attitude as endogenous variables in the model.

본 연구에서는 고형연료 소각시설을 대상으로 3회에 걸쳐 고형연료의 소각에 의해 발생되는 N₂O 농도를 24시간 동안 연속적으로 측정하여 발생량과 배출특성을 조사하였다. 고형연료 소각시설의 N₂O 배출특성에 대한 영향인자를 조사한 결과 N₂O 발생농도는 폐기물의 성상 또는 선택적 무촉매 환원장치(SNCR) 가동 유무보다는 소각시설의 소각온도와 산소농도 같은 운전조건에 따라 상이하게 발생하는 것으로 판단되었다. 고형연료 소각시설의 N₂O 일일평균 발생농도는 114.8~134.7 ppm이며, 전체 평균농도는 125.0 ppm으로 측정되었다. 또한 고형연료 소각시설의 N₂O 배출계수를 산출한 결과 2,345.74 g-N₂O/ton-waste로 tier 2 방법에서 사용되는 하수슬러지의 N₂O 배출계수와 비교하여도 약 4배 정도 높은 결과를 얻었다. In this study, N₂O emission concentration was measured 3 times continuously for 24 hours from Solid Refuse Fuel (SRF) incinerator. As a result of investigating the influence factors on N₂O emission characteristics, it is estimated that N₂O emission concentration is due to the difference of furnace temperature, oxygen concentration rather than the chemical component of waste and SNCR operating. The measured N₂O emission concentration of SRF incinerator was obtained in the range of 114.8~134.7 ppm and the total average concentration was measured 125.0 ppm. Therefore, the N₂O emission factor of the SRF incinerator was estimated to be 2,345.74 g-N₂O/ton-waste. The estimated N₂O emission factor of SRF was about 4 times higher than that of sewage sludge cake used in tier 2 method.

<P>We report on the signal monitoring characteristics in a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) transistor outline can with a monitor-photodiode, thermoelectric cooler, and thermistor. Because of spatial hole-burning in the RSOA cavity, a front-side signal-monitoring module exhibits wider windows and better linearity in monitor current to signal power ratio (MCSPR) than a rear-side signal-monitoring module for current variations. In C-band, the average of the MCSPR is about 0.150 A/W and the MCSPR variation on wavelength is about ±0.038 A/W.</P>
