Since 2008, a nationwide infant and toddler vision screening program has been initiated as a part of the Infant Health Screening Project of the Korean National Health Insurance Corporation. Because children’s visual system is in the process of development and they can hardly be treated after its maturation, their vision problems must be screened for and treated in their early age. The program screens for frequent and important eye problems from the age of 4months to 6 years. The vision screening part consists of history questionnaire section and examination section. The history questionnaire section was devised to screen the symptoms of the target diseases that frequently occur in their due age. The examination section comprises pen-light examination up to the age of 2 and visual acuity testing afterward. Amblyopia is by far the most important target disease in all screening sessions. Unilateral or bilateral vision problems,strabismus, other intraocular blinding conditions, blepharoptosis, abnormal head posture of ocular origin, and refractive errors are other important target diseases. Proper knowledge of target diseases and methods is essential for the successful screening. This article is intended to supplement the vision screening of the Doctor’s Manual for Infant Health Screening.
BPM에 의한 Monolithic Laser-Waveguide Coupler의 특성 연구

본 연구에서는 효율적인 광원과 광도파로간의 결합방법으로서 많은 연구가 진행중인 monolithic laser-waveguide coupler 특성해석에 beam propagation method를 도입하여 기존의 방법과 비교검토 한 결과 타당성을 입증할 수 있었으며, 또한 결합효율을 향상시키기 위하여 taper 구조를 가진 monlithic laser-waveguide coupler를 제시하였다. monolithic laser-waveguide coupler는 능동소자인 laser의 특성과 수동소자인 waveguide의 특성을 동시에 가지고 있으므로 고려하여야할 요소가 매우 많고, 또 각 요소들의 변화에 따라 결합기의 성능이 크게 좌우되므로 그 특성 연구가 많은 어려움이 있었다. 때문에 본 연구에서는 방향성 결합기를 사용한 모델을 해석하는 방법으로 기존의 coupled mode 이론을 사용할 수도 있겠으나, 본 연구에서와 같이 많은 변수를 가지는 경우의 해석에는 적용하기 어렵다는 단점 때문에 beam propagation method를 사용한 해석을 시도하였다. 또한 해석에 있어서 가장 기본이 되는 초기전개의 계산에서도 종래의 연구에서와 달리 근사식을 이용해 전계를 계산하지 않고, 주어진 구조에 대하여 직접 finite difference method를 적용하여 초기전계를 구하였다. 이러한 새로운 시도들이 가지는 잇점을 방법과 비교하여 알아 보았으며, 새로운 방법의 적용을 통하여 보다 많은 변수를 고려하여 monolithic laser-waveguide coupler의 특성을 연구할 수 있었다. 이러한 과정을 통하여 결합기의 특성을 파악하고 그 결과로 monolothic laser-waveguide coupler의 특성중 가장 중요한 결합특성을 향상 시키기 위해서 taper영역을 가지는 monolothic laser-waveguide coupler를 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 구조에 대하여 특성을 조사해본 결과 79%정도의 좋은 결합효율을 얻을 수 있었다. In this paper, we present a new analysis of monolithic laser-waveguide coupling structure employing the beam propagation method. Monolithic laser-waveguide coupler has both passive and active components It has too many parameters to consider for an analysis. So we present proper model of coupler by use of directional coupler. We employ the beam propagation method th analyze the proposed structure, we could employ the coupled mode theory but we thought in the case of this paper the beam propagation method is more appropriate than coupler mode theorybecause a number of variables which to consider is too many for the coupled mode theory. Also we use finite difference method to calcurate trial field which is a starting point of beam propagation analysis. Through this approach, we can consider more parameters. And we propose a new structure of monolothic laser-waveguide coupler which has taper structure between the distance in which coupling is taking place and passive waveguide. We can obtain 79% high coupling efficiency from our structure.

One of the important requirements in user beam lines of the KOMAC (Korea Multi-purposeAccelerator Complex) 100-MeV linac facility is the ±10% uniformity of the particle distributionover the irradiation area. For a long beam line, we found that it can be achieved by using theusual octupole method. However, the lengths of other beam lines are too short to generate uniformirradiation on target by using two octupole magnets. In this work, we studied the combination ofan octupole magnet, which makes uniform particle distribution in one direction, and a scanningmagnet, which shifts the beam center in the perpendicular direction and makes uniform irradiationby adding several pulses. This report summarizes the condition of uniform beam irradiation andthe characteristics of beam on target in the KOMAC 100-MeV beam line.
Uniform Irradiation in a PEFP 100-MeV Beam Line with Octupole Magnets

One of the PEFP (Proton Engineering Frontier Project) 100-MeV beam lines requires a large and uniform irradiation field of ±10% uniformity in the target area of 300 mm × 300 mm. We studied the nonlinear optics method by using two octupole magnets in order to achieve a large uniform field at the target. We found that the particles can be uniformly distributed within ±10% in a 300 mm × 300 mm irradiation field at the target. We also studied the conditions of the quadrupole and the octupole magnets to meet the requirement of a large and uniform irradiation field.
스마트 팜 재배식물을 활용한 영양균형 레시피 개발 및 스마트팜 기술 인식도 조사

With the core technology of 4th Industrial Revolution, the industry of Smart-Farm technology has applied agriculture automation system instead of traditional agriculture. This study were explored to introduce undergraduate research practices by using Smart-Farm technology to promote to build new lectures focused on this technology. The mentor-mentee program were conducted by a graduate student and a professor. Our team implemented surveys to develop nutritionally-balanced diets with fresh Smart-Farm vegetables. After all, sensory evaluation were explored to improve food quality by recruitment of 29 panel. New dishes using fresh vegetables were considered to be nutritionally-balanced but the results of sensory evaluation were low. Survey results from the panel suggest to improve the quality of fresh vegetables texture. To intake adequate nutrients intakes, educational program and nutrition consults should be promoted for undergraduate program. Demand on Smart-Farm technology was high according to panel opinion. In conclusion, the results of this study will be useful as basic data for the planning of Smart-Farm technology utilization program for the undergraduate students in the department of food science and nutrition.
