      • ‘터무니’의 이해와 새로운 무늬 새기기

        이 논문은 터라는 한국적인 장소 개념을 사용하여 공간과 장소의 특성을 규정하고 그것을 바탕으로 개인이 현대사회의 중요한 터인 도시 속에서 자신의 정체성을 구성하는 방식과 변화의 가능성을 살펴보려는 것이다. 무엇보다 터에 대한 연구가 공동체와 개인, 다양한 문화와 개인의 정체성, 그리고 타인과의 공존과 개인의 일상성에 대한 인문학적 질문과 밀 접하게 연결되어 있음을 밝히려는 것이다. 마지막으로는 터와 인간의 관계를 정확하게 이해하고, 터에 새롭게 무늬를 새기는 작업의 의미와 중요성 그리고 그 필요성을 강조하려고하며, 이런 작업을 하는 도시 공동체의 구성원들의 특징을 살펴볼 것이다. 특히, 도시의 여성은 노동, 쇼핑, 거닐기 등의 일상 활동을 통해 자신의 장소 속에서 다양한 만남을 이루고 있으며 터를 만들고 있다. 이 논문의 목표는 여성들의 활동을 통해 유지되는 도시의 일상적 삶이 도시문화의 다양성을 포용하는 중요한 단초이며, 이를 통해 터의 무늬를 주체적으로 새기고 있음을 밝히려는 것이다. 그 과정 속에서 도시라는 터는 고착된 것이 아니라 역동적 으로 움직이고 있는 과정으로 존재하며 가능성을 내포하고 있다. This study looks at TeoMuni, or Teo, a Korean concept of place. First, it defines the concept, analyzing differences as well as connections between space and place and explores the potentiality of the city, a crucial place for modern people building their identities. Second, it considers the study of Teo in terms of the relationship between focusing on how to carve people’s interest in space and how to influence their everyday life in a specific place, inquiring into questions of the humanities, such as how to improve the relationship between the community and the individual, how to acquire identity in a multi-cultural society, and how to coexist with the other. Finally, this study examines the characteristics of members participating in carving new designs in the city. It stresses the role of women as performers who greatly impact on city life, working, shopping, and walking in the street. Such everyday activities continually expose otherwise unknown cultures and places and provide new perspectives on the city.

        Dewey의 흥미와 노력을 통한 영유아기 자녀 교육에 대한 소고: 고(苦)가 아닌 고(考)하는 교육을 바라며

        목적 본 연구에서 연구자는 John Dewey가 말한 흥미와 노력의 의미에 입각하여 영유아기 자녀교육에 대해 스스로 소고(小考)하고자 하였다.방법 본 연구는 소고(小考)의 어원 그대로 단편적인 고찰, 연구자의 생각을 낮춰서 쓴 글의 형식을 취하고 있다.결과 본 고의 첫 번째 장에서 연구자는 Dewey를 통한 소고(小考)와 이를 통한 자기 성찰적 글쓰기가 필요했던 이유를 서술하였다. 두 번째 장에서는 우리나라의 교육 현실에 비추어 ‘흥미’에 대한 오해와 ‘노력’에 대한 맹목적인 믿음을 고찰하고자 하였다. 그리고 세 번째 장에서는 앞서 흥미에 대한 오해, 노력에 대한 맹신을 직시하기 위해 흥미와 노력이 갖는 세 가지 쟁점(자아의 분열, 수동적 쾌락, 맹목적 끈기)에 대해 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 연구자는 Dewey의 이론을 토대로 소고(小考)한 시간이 스스로에게 어떤 의미였는지 기술하고, 삶 자체로서의 교육 안에서 우리 교육이 지향해야 하는 바를 말하였다.결론 본 연구는 Dewey의 이론을 토대로 연구자 스스로 지성적 사고를 해보고자 한 데에 의의가 있다. Objectives In this study, the researcher tried to make a self-examination about children’s education based on the meaning of interest and effort by John Dewey. Methods This study takes the form of a fragmentary study and writing with lower thoughts of the researcher as the etymology of self-examination. Results In the first chapter of this paper, the researcher described the reason for the necessity of writing through Dewey and self-reflective writing. In the second chapter, The researcher tried to examine the misunderstanding of “interest” and having blind faith in “effort” in light of Korea s educational reality. And in the third chapter, in order to face misunderstanding of interest and blind faith in effort, the three issues of interest and effort(disruption of ego, passive pleasure, blind persistence) were examined. Conclusions Finally, based on Dewey s theory, the researcher described what the contemplated time meant to himself, and emphasized what our education should aim for in education as life itself. Above all, this study is meaningful in that the researcher himself tried to think intelligently based on Dewey s theory.

        돌봄 윤리를 통해 살펴본 상호의존적 인간의 특징 연구: 『헝거 게임』 3부작

        The study explores the process by which Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist in The Hunger Games become a carer who has the ability of practicing care ethics, and self-reflection through relationships with others. I show how Katniss’s caring has a critical effect on oppressed people in Panam controled by President Snow, the dictator and becomes the crucial catalyst to resist Snow’s brutal rule that makes people feel powerless. Focusing on her sincere attitude toward establishing relation with people born to be dependent, I evaluate her care in terms of care ethics, rather than a “feminine care” that serves as an excuse to suppress women’s lives in patriarchal society. In the Hunger Games trilogy, care ethics consists in paying attention to others’ needs, accepting the interdependent situation of human being, and refusing to exploit the vulnerability of theirs. In the end, I argue that care ethics helps people to understand the definite social situation, to identify human vulnerabilities, and eventually to realize that caring for each other is the most important element for humanity. I conclude that human being consists in the ethical relationship of care.

        그림그리기를 통해 살펴본 예비유아교사들의 어릴 적 재미있었던 놀이경험에 대한 이미지

        본 연구는 그림그리기를 통해 예비유아교사들이 어릴 적 재미있게 경험한 놀이에 대한 이미지를 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 3년제 대학 유아교육과 학생 90명과 4년제 대학교 유아교육과 학생 82명이 어린 시절 놀이경험을 그림으로 그리고, 그림에 대한 설명을 간단히 텍스트로 작성하였다. 이 중 완성하지 못한 6명의 그림을 제외한 166개의 그림이 분석에 사용되었으며, 분석결과는 크게 네 개의 범주로 나타났다. 첫째, 예비유아교사들은 자신에게 친숙했던 공간 안에서 주변의 물건들을 적극적으로 활용하며 놀이한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 예비유아교사들은 아파트나 유치원 놀이터에 친구들과 모여 놀이를 시작하고, 그 안에서 규칙이 있는 다양한 놀이를 즐긴 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 예비유아교사들은 자연 안에서 자연물을 가지고 놀이하거나 땅을 밟으며 할 수 있는 놀이들을 즐겼던 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 예비유아교사들은 다소 위험해 보이는 공간에서의 놀이뿐만 아니라 교사가 의도했던 교육활동도 놀이로 즐긴 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과들은 예비유아교사들의 놀이경험에 기초하여 그들의 놀이에 대한 인식을 발전시킴으로써 유아들의 놀이 지원을 강화할 필요가 있음을 시사한다. The purpose of this study was to examine, through drawing, the images of play that pre-service early childhood teachers have enjoyed during their childhood. 90 pre-service teachers at a 3-year college and 82 pre-service teachers at a 4-year college all majored in early childhood education were asked to draw a picture about their play experience in their childhood, and give a brief text description of the pictures. A total of 166 pictures, excluding six incomplete ones, were used for analysis. The results of the analysis led to four major categories. First, it was shown that pre-service early childhood teachers actively utilized objects around them in their familiar space while playing. Second, it was shown that pre-service early childhood teachers started their play in a playground in an apartment complex or a kindergarten, and enjoyed various plays that have rules. Third, the analysis showed that pre-service early childhood teachers enjoyed plays that involved natural objects in their natural environment or stepping on the ground. Fourth, pre-service early childhood teachers not only enjoyed playing in spaces that looked a little bit dangerous but also enjoyed educational activities as play that their teachers intentionally carried out. These results imply the necessity of enhanced support for young children’s play through improving pre-service early childhood teachers’ perception on play based on their play experience during childhood.

        ‘연민’의 감정 가르치기: 「제비뽑기 」 와 「오멜라스를 떠나는 사람들 」

        This study explores how to teach the relationship between compassion and violence, studying Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” and Urusula Le Guin’s “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas.” These two short stories reveal the selfish nature of humans to keep their own safety and well-being and to ignore the injustice of violence that kills the person with the stone in “The Lottery” and confines the child in the basement in “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas.” First, while reading these stories, students should understand the characteristics of the subjective and objective violence that Slavoj Žižek refers to: to study how people perpetrate subjective violence according to their desire to be safe in society and to figure out how objective violence manipulates people to inflict subjective violence on the weak. Second, students will recognize that these two stories lack a feeling of compassion and a feeling of suffering that arises from human being’s vulnerability, the perception that we are not free from violence, and that we can always be in a position of weakness like Tessie Hutchinson in “The Lottery” and the child in “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas.” In other words, students have to understand we cannot separate ourselves from the weak who suffer from violence caused by human selfishness and should think about safe spaces for the weak because the place that these members of society feel comfortable is truly good for our place. Therefore, this study emphasizes how to develop compassion through reading iterature.

        초기 청교도 사회의 관용과 여성의 글쓰기

        This paper explores how Ann Bradstreet and Mary Rowlandson use tolerance to balance their desire to write their thoughts and the demands of the Puritan culture, which do not allow women to write due to its strict gender roles. Analyzing the characteristics of tolerance that each writer uses in her work, the reader can see the features of the early Puritan society and figure out what Bradstreet and Rowlandson show to be desirable tolerance, which can apply to modern people. First, Bradstreet empowers the Puritan society, arousing pity for the inferior who want to write poems. Although she seems to be groveling before society, she criticizes the childishness and narrow-mindedness of the Puritan society that impedes her writing. Second, Rowlandson realizes the gap between the needs of the Puritan society, which tries to unite the Puritans, and her need to prove her purity after being released from Indian captivity. The statement of the Puritan leader emphasizes that it is God’s mercy that keeps Rowlandson alive, but that is not good enough for her to receive confidence from the community. Rather, she is moved by a little gesture that her neighbor gives to her, because such a trivial action occurs when people truly accept her as their neighbor. Rowlandson thinks that real tolerance is to practice one’s mind to others sincerely.

        지구화 시대 여성의 빈곤과 성 노동자: ZZ 패커의 「거위들」

        This study examines the changing status of a female African-American character, Dina, who moves from Baltimore to Tokyo, Japan to escape from the poverty but ultimately becomes an immigrant sex worker in ZZ Packer`s short story, “Geese”(2006). Packer describes poverty itself within globalization, which makes the rich much richer and the poor much poorer. In such a terrible situation, Dina is so afraid of starving to death that she only thinks about how to survive in poverty due to her deficiency in technological skills and information about how global capital circulates and why people move. Moreover, Dina suffers from the intersectional oppressions of patriarchal ideology, racial discrimination, and employment instability. She takes over the responsibility of supporting her new family, including Ari, Petra, Zoltan, and Sayeed, who move to Japan in lieu of Ari. During this time, Dina exemplifies two typical woman figures: a mother who endures any agony for her family and a prostitute who sells her body in order to survive. In the end, she cannot help accepting her identity as an immigrant, African American, woman, and sex worker. Therefore, this study criticizes three important factors that drive Dina to become a sex worker: the patriarchal ideology that views a woman as a physical object; racial discrimination that poses a false notion about African Americans, especially African-American women; and the economic downturn that excludes female workers from the job market in the context of globalization.

        수전 글래스펠과 버지니아 울프의 서술기법 가르치기

        This study is an exploration of how to teach a narrative technique used by Susan Glaspell and Virginia Woolf, who are famous for writing about women’s lives in a patriarchal society. In order to pique students’ curiosity and help them appreciate the characteristics of these authors’ short stories, I chose “A Jury of Her Peers” and “The Legacy,” whose basic structure of narrative technique is similar to a detective’s investigation in terms of how important clues are read. In both pieces, the narrators repeatedly mention the same word or phrase such as “quilt it” and “Egypt”, which help students to understand the character’s mind or situation. In “A Jury of Her Peers,” while finding the meaning of the kitchen and quilts, students can follow the process of how women sympathize with Mrs. Wright’s difficult and lonely life caused by Mr. Wright’s ignorance. In addition, students can realize that in “The Legacy,” Egypt is not an ideal place for Angela, because she knows that wherever she goes, she will be put in the same situation; that is, manipulated by patriarchal ideology. In conclusion, this paper shows the effect of teaching female writers’ short stories that use a particular narrative technique, leading students to appreciate the literature and think about the subject.

        직장인의 아침식사 이용행태의 영향요인

        본 연구는 아침식사 이용행태에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 어떻게 작용하는가를 알아보기 위해 고안되었다. 본 연구의 중요한 요인들은 감정, 건강관심도, 선택속성이다. 아침식사 이용행태는 직장인들이 아침식사를 하는지 여부를 알아보고, 만 약 아침식사를 한다면, 어디에서 아침식사를 하는지, 또한 어떤 점포 유형을 선택하는지를 알아보고자 한다. 본 연구를 위해 2015년 10월 27일부터 11월 10일까지 수도권 지역에 거주하는 직장인들을 대상으로 350부의 설문지를 배포하여 설 문을 진행하였다. 이 중 총 314부의 설문지를 실증분석에 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 직장인이 아침식사를 할 확률은 긍정의 감정에서 증가하는 것을 보여주었다. 또한 직장인의 건강관심도 역시 긍정의 감정에서 증가하였지만, 건강관심도가 아침식사의 내식/외식 선택에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났 다. 또한 직장인의 아침식사 시 중요하게 생각하는 요인들은 메뉴의 품질, 종사원의 서비스, 위생으로 나타났다. 직장인들이 가장 선호하는 점포 유형은 베이커리/커피전문점이었다. This study was designed to identify how the influencing factors(emotions, health concerns, selections attributes) shape the breakfast consumption behavior. Consumption behavior focused on whether they eat breakfast, where they eat, and which stores they choose. The results showed that the probability of taking breakfast increased as positive emotion and health concern of office workers increased, and that health concern did not have any influence on eating-in and eating-out. Moreover, office workers were found to consider menu quality, employees’ service, and hygiene / safety as important selection factors of breakfast. Bakery and specialty coffee shop were the types of stores preferred the most by the office workers among several choices given.
