The majority of cystic masses in the lateral neck are benign entities, and these entities include branchial cyst. Occult papillary thyroid carcinoma can occasionally present with regional lymph node metastasis. However, cystic metastasis from occult papillary thyroid carcinoma is a very rare condition. We present here a case of a cystic neck mass as the sole initial clinical manifestation of metastatic occult papillary thyroid carcionoma. (Korean J Endocrine Surg 2009;9:228-231)
간세포암에서 Vimentin과 MMP2 발현의 임상적 의의

Background / Purpose: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common cancer with a poor prognosis. A better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the genesis of HCC, as well as the progression of HCC, allow for improved prediction of the prognosis of patients with HCC and more effective treatment. In this study, we determined the expression of vimentin and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP 2) and evaluated the clinical significance in (HCC). Methods: Immunohistochemical staining was performed for vimentin and MMP 2 in 98 surgically resected HCC specimens using the tissue microarray method. The clinicopathologic data and the outcomes were reviewed, and the levels of expression of vimentin and MMP 2 were compared. Results: Positive expression of vimentin and MMP 2 was observed in 7.1% and 41.8% of specimens, respectively. The overexpression of vimentin and MMP 2 had a positive correlation with tumor cell proliferative activity, as measured by the Ki-67 labeling index (p<0.001 and p=0.043, respectively), but was not correlated with the TUNEL labeling index. Other clinicopathological factors, such as platelet count, serosal invasion, Edomondson grade, capsule infiltration, TNM stage(UICC, 6th edition) and extrahepatic metastases in patients with recurrences had a significant correlation with vimentin. The presence of portal vein thrombosis approached statistical significance with MMP 2 expression. In the survival analysis, overexpression of vimentin and MMP 2 was correlated with a poor overall survival rate based on univariate analysis (p=0.002 and, p=0.047, respectively), but not based on multivariate analysis. Conclusion: In HCC, vimentin and MMP 2 may have a role in cancer progression with more aggressive potential, thus suggesting their use as a prognostic markers in HCC.

A solitary fibrous tumor (STF) is a relatively unusual neoplasm first described as a distinctive tumor arising from pleura. Some reports have shown that STF also affect extrathoracic regions. A 70-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for surgical treatment of an incidentally discovered thigh mass. We performed complete removal of the tumor. It was a soft tissue tumor with muscle indentation but without invasion to the surrounding muscles. The resected specimen was 7.0×6.3×5.2 ㎝. Histologically, the tumor was composed of a haphazard proliferation of spindle cells and epitheloid cells with hypercellularity and high mitotic activity. Immunohistochemistry showed positive immunoreactivity for CD34, CD99, bcl-2 protein, CD117, vimentin, smooth muscle actin and epithelial membrane antigen. We report, herein, on a rare case of malignant SFT in the thigh region along with a review of the literature.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the cases about utilization and development of abandoned tunnels in Korea, and to explore their characteristics and types. The utilizing type of abandoned tunnels are largely composed of two types: the one that utilizes its original purpose and function, and the other that utilizes its exceptional spatial characteristics. To be more subdivided, there are some types used as bicycle roads and passageways, as tourist spots such as rail bikes, as exhibition space by utilizing the characteristics of blocking light and sound, or as storage and cultivation site. This study also found some problems such as cracks, water leakage, and air ventilation that occur in abandoned tunnel, which is necessary to review solutions and alternatives in the future.
가상 인플루언서의 인지된 의인화가 광고 태도에 미치는 영향: 매력성, 브랜드 애착, 준사회적 상호작용의 매개효과를 중심으로

급변하는 미디어 환경과 미디어 생태계 전반에 걸친 디지털 전환으로 새로운 유형의 광고 모델로서 가상 인플루언서가 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 가상 인플루언서의 인지된 의인화가 광고 태도에 미치는 영향을 매력성, 브랜드 애착, 준사회적 상호작용의 매개효과를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 가상 인플루언서의 인지된 의인화가 소비자의 심리적 반응과 광고 태도에 미치는 복합적 영향을 구조적으로 분석함으로써, 가상 인플루언서 마케팅 전략에 대한 깊은 이해를 목표로 하였다. 연구 결과, 가상 인플루언서의 인지된 의인화 수준은 매력성 평가에 영향을 미치며, 브랜드 애착 또는 준사회적 상호작용을 연속으로 매개하여 광고 태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 가상 인플루언서의 매력성과 준사회적 상호작용, 브랜드에 대한 감정적 애착과 같은 인지·심리적 요인들이 가상 인플루언서 광고에 대한 긍정적인 태도를 유발하는 데 순차적인 역할을 수행한다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 가상 인플루언서를 활용한 온라인 광고에서 소비자의 심리적 기제의 중요성을 확인하고, 이를 바탕으로 디지털 마케팅 전략과 성과를 최적화하는 데 유용한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. In light of the rapidly evolving media landscape and the digital transformation occurring across the media ecosystem, virtual influencers have emerged as a novel advertising model. This study examines the impact of perceived anthropomorphism of virtual influencers on advertising attitudes, with a particular focus on the mediating effects of attractiveness, brand attachment, and para-social interaction. The objective of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of the complex effects of perceived anthropomorphism of virtual influencers on consumers’ psychological responses and advertising attitudes. To this end, a structural analysis of the relationships between these variables was conducted. The results demonstrated that perceived anthropomorphism of virtual influencers positively influenced attractiveness, brand attachment, and para-social interaction. Furthermore, these variables successively mediated advertising attitudes. In other words, cognitive-psychological factors such as attractiveness, para-social interaction, and emotional attachment to the brand play an important role in generating positive advertising attitudes among consumers. This study confirms the importance of consumer psychological mechanisms in online advertising using virtual influencers and provides a useful basis for optimizing digital marketing strategies and performance.

본 연구에서는 염생식물을 이용한 생리활성 소재 개발 연구의 일환으로 가는갯능쟁이의 용매 추출물 및 분획물을 제조하여 LPS로 염증을 유도한 마우스 유래 macrophages에서의 NO 생성 및 염증관련인자의 발현에 미치는 영향을 검토하여 가는갯능쟁이의 항염증 소재로서의 이용 가능성을 검토하였다. 가는갯능쟁이는 methylene chloride와 methanol을 이용하여 제조한 조추출물(crude extract, 48.3 mg)을 용매극성에 따라 단계적으로 분획하여 n-hexane 층(11.5 mg), 85% aqueous methanol 수용액층(85% aq. MeOH, 11.3 mg), n-butanol 층(n-BuOH, 11.2 mg)과 water 층(12.3 mg)을 얻었다. 가는갯능쟁이의 조추출물 및 분획물의 RAW264.7 대식세포에 대한 독성 여부를 측정하여 세포에 대한 독성이 나타나지 않는 처리 농도에서 추출물 및 분획물의 항염증 활성을 확인하였다. 조추출물은 LPS로 유도된 NO 생성을 유의적으로 억제하는 효과를 나타내었으며, 주요 염증 유발인자인 iNOS와 COX-2의 발현 또한 효과적으로 억제하였다. 분획물의 NO 생성 억제효과는 85% aq. MeOH> n-BuOH >n-hexane > H₂O의 순으로 나타났으며, 세포내 전사수준에서 염증관련 유전자의 발현 억제율은 H₂O 분획 처리군에 비해 85% aq. MeOH, n-BuOH 및 n-hexane 분획 처리군에서 높게 나타났다. 이상의 결과로부터 항염증 활성이 가장 높게 나타난 85% aq. MeOH 분획층으로 부터 염증억제 효과가 있는 유효 성분의 분리가 기대된다. As a part of ongoing research to elucidate and characterize antiinflammatory nutraceuticals, the crude extracts from Atriplex gmelinii C. A. Mey. and their solvent-partitioned fractions were tested for their antiinflammatory potential in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages. The crude extracts of A. gmelinii C. A. Mey. were fractioned according to polarity with n-hexane, 85% aqueous methanol (85% aq. MeOH), n-butanol, and H₂O. Their antiinflammatory activities were investigated in LPS-induced inflammation in mouse macrophages by measuring nitric oxide (NO) generation and mRNA expression of inflammation mediators, namely, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and IL-6. As a result, we confirmed that the crude extracts of A. gmelinii C. A. Mey. inhibited LPS-stimulated NO production and mRNA expression of iNOS and COX-2 as important inflammatory factors. The inhibition of NO production through the downregulation of important inflammatory factors such as iNOS, COX-2, IL-1β, and IL-6 was found by treatment with all solvent-partitioned fractions. Among all tested fractions, 85% aq. MeOH showed the strongest antiinflammatory response. Based on the current results, A. gmelinii C. A. Mey. was suggested to possess natural antiinflammatory components, indicating that it could be used as a valuable source of antiinflammatory substances.
