Purpose: To evaluate the radiological and clinical results after open reduction and internal fixation with calcaneal F plate and locking calcaneal plate using lateral extensile approach in the treatment of intra-articular calcaneal fracture Materials and Methods: This study included 34 cases of 33 patients followed up for at least 6 months postoperatively. F plate was applied in 18 cases (Group 1), locking plate was used in 16 cases (Group 2) and compared radiological and clinical results between two groups. Results: Radiollogically, the mean Bohler angle was improved from $5.5^{\circ}$ preoperatively to $20.1^{\circ}$ postoperatively and $18.8^{\circ}$ at the last follow up in group 1 and $8.6^{\circ}$ preoperatively, $21.4^{\circ}$ postoperatively and $20.3^{\circ}$ at last follow up in group 2. Bone union was observed in all cases and 4 cases of screw loosening were noted in Group 1 with extended fracture to anterior process. At the last follow up, both groups showed clinical results in American orthopedic foot and ankle society ankle hindfoot score, 76(77 in Sanders type II and 75 in type III) in group 1 and 72(73 in type II and 70 in type III) in group 2. Conclusion: F plate and locking plate showed firm fixation and satisfactory clinical results in the treatment of intra-articular calcaneal fracture. We suggest applying locking plate in cases with extended fracture to anterior process, considering screw loosenings in those who were treated with F plate fixation.

The e(lect of capacitance error on the A/D conversion accuracy in the A/D converter using binary-weighted capacitor array was scruntized. Besides the Monte-Carlo method considering the inter-capacitance ratios as random variables, " correlation approach" con-sidering the correlation coefficient between capacitances is proposed in this paper. Bt was observed by the measurement of capacitances of monolithic MO5 capacitors that the correla-tion coefficient between capacitors decreases as the capacitor size incrrases. It was also verified that the parallel connection of unit capacitors and the common centroid layout scheme signi(icantly increase the inter-capacitance correlation coefficients.

The numerical analysis and the experiments are carried out to develop the design program for the flow control valve attached to the vane pump for power steering. The factors affecting the flow rate characteristics are analyzed by the experi-ments and the numerical analysis. The results are summarized as follows; (1) the main factors affecting to the first and second control flow rate are the diameter of big and small rod of the spool. (2) the cut off is mainly affected by the main spring constant, the initial displacement of main spring and the small diameter of the spool. (3) the dropping slope charac- teristics are decided by the chamfer of spool and the dynamic characteristics of the spool.
Regulation and function of capicua in mammals
이윤태 생화학분자생물학회 2020 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.52 No.-
Capicua (CIC) is an evolutionarily conserved transcription factor. CIC contains a high-mobility group (HMG) box that recognizes specific DNA sequences to regulate the expression of various target genes. CIC was originally identified in Drosophila melanogaster as a transcriptional repressor that suppresses the receptor tyrosine kinase signaling pathway. This molecule controls normal organ growth and tissue patterning as well as embryogenesis in Drosophila. Recent studies have also demonstrated its extensive functions in mammals. For example, CIC regulates several developmental and physiological processes, including lung development, abdominal wall closure during embryogenesis, brain development and function, neural stem cell homeostasis, T cell differentiation, and enterohepatic circulation of bile acids. CIC is also associated with the progression of various types of cancer and neurodegeneration in spinocerebellar ataxia type-1, systemic autoimmunity, and liver injury. In this review, I provide a broad overview of our current understanding of the regulation and functions of CIC in mammals and discuss future research directions.
