The appropriate estimation of demand for commercial area is crucial for promoting the development of the city. There are numerous methodological and technical approaches for estimating the commercial demand. However, estimating the demand accurately has been a difficult task so far, because of the amount of required variables, errors in methodology, and intervention of the planners. In this paper, the relationship between major origin-destination points and total floor space of commercial areas is analyzed to simplify the estimation and improve the performance. The regression model showed good results in macroscopic analysis, but it did not in the analysis of each new city. However, the traffic from business district clusters near the new city is analyzed to have more influence on the commercial area than the inner traffic of the new city. In other words, the total amount of commercial area in new city could be assumed by the traffic from business district clusters, and the amount of commercial area in each “dong” could be presumed by new-cities’ inner-traffic volume. More meaningful result could be derived in the future, when sales data by building usage and purchasing power data are added.

This study was carried out to assess the development effect of innovation cities quantitatively and empirically. In this study, the results of innovation cities were identified in four aspects: population, land price increase and industrial structure, and changes in per capita income of local people. Between 2008 and 2018, the center of population moved towards the Seoul metropolitan area, the center of population in each parent city moved toward the innovation cities, and the surrounding area was found to have little impact. In terms of land prices, land prices in innovation cities have risen relatively compared to those in the surrounding areas, but the portion of land area owned by the original residents was only half that of the surrounding cities. This means that residents who live outside the city took the capital gain on land. Despite the relocation of public institutions, there has been little increase in the LQ index of key industries, the report showed. The statistical analysis showed that the construction of innovation cities did not affect the increase in per capita income. In conclusion, the innovation city project failed to decentralize the population of the metropolitan area and its economic impact was not significant.

This paper proposes the method to evaluate the performance of mobile robot navigation under the existence of surrounding objects at robot"s test bed. The method explores the position and velocity tracking to assess the performance of navigation. To achieve that goal, the position and velocity of mobile robot need to be accurately localized by using the maps. We use two kinds of maps which are artificial landmark map and the object map. The artificial landmark map contains the position information of ultrasonic-based beacons installed to the ceiling corner and is used to measure the velocity and the position of the robot, while the object map gives the position information of surrounding objects located in the test bed and is used to represent the trajectories of the mobile robot. The test bed has been built at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Daejeon, South Korea. The proposed method gives an effective way to build the artificial landmark map and the object map in the test bed and successfully outperforms the evaluation of navigation performance for mobile robot.

Since the revision of the ‘Distribution Industry Development Act’, there have been various controversies about SSM regulation. There are three perspectives on SSM regulation law. The first point of view is that SSM regulation should be maintained because the sales of small business traders. The second point of view is that SSM regulation is unnecessary because it brings about social inefficiency. The last point of view is that regulation would be necessary for commercial balance but the most important thing is to strengthen their resilience. However, SSM regulation become nominal because it was condemned by the Seoul High Court. Domestic business has been suffering lately, the voices urging no more regulation is growing among related industries. Nevertheless, it is integral for SSM to be regulated, due to their negative effect on local commercial market. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of effect of the Wholesale Mart and Super-Super Market(SSM) on local commercial sphere. By grasping the characteristics of the number of companies and employees in retail fields, analyzed the feature of location quotient. Through this study, it was confirmed that the establishment of Wholesale Mart and SSM caused negative effects on small businesses, especially when they located together and when general store belonged to basic industry.

This paper presents a new method to estimate the robot position in the large-scale environments when it requires to re-initialization of its position. The robot localization can be divided into two major processes; the initialization and the tracking of the positions. First of all, the initialization finding the robot localization is one of the challengeable mission, especially in the large indoor spaces. Normally, the robot uses the various sensors such as the laser scanner, the sonar, the camera, etc., but those sensors can only measure the local information surrounding the robot dissimilar to the outdoor Global Positioning System (GPS). The robot, however, should frequently estimate the initial position in the practical applications after the power shutdown to save the energy consumption in the standby mode. This paper proposes the method to find the exact position using the history information of the sensor and the positions when the robot needs to do the initialization of robot location again. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we performed the experiments with the real robot in the large scale indoor environments. Finally, the experimental results demonstrated the useful method to achieve the re-initial localization for the robot in the practical applications.

This paper presents a method for the mobile robots to estimate the global position in dynamic indoor environments using only natural landmarks based on the LiDAR. The method finds an initial 2D location using the grid-based map and the vertically projected measurements of LiDAR. Based on the initial 2D location, the position of the 6 degree-of-freedom is estimated and tracked using the 3D point cloud and the full data of LiDAR. Experimentally, the performance of the proposed method was verified in a parking lot, where it is a representative dynamic environment, using the 3D LiDAR.

This paper presents a method for interpolating indoor air quality data by considering the spatial structure with the scattered environmental data. It is hard to estimate the air quality at a certain indoor spot using only scattered environmental data due to complex interior structure. In order to improve the accuracy of air quality measurement in the indoor place, we proposed the method to interpolate the environmental data taking into account the indoor geometric shape and verified its effectiveness and performance experimentally.
