A new human sensibility (kansei) meter that can measure human sensibility at the indoor environment is developed in this paper. Four sensors that can measure temperature, humidity, CO₂ and C₄H_(10) concentrations are used. Among these sensors, the first three are used to determine the human sensibility, And the last to protect human from the harmful gas. First of all, human sensibilities are defined for each sensor datum, and then those are linearly combined to make a final human sensibility (kansei). The efficiency and usefulness of the meter are verified using a simulator on Windows 95 and a stand-alone system constructed using a microprocessor.

The micro heater with PSG/Si₃N₄ diaphragm and platinum heater pattern was designed for micro-gas sensor fabrication. The platinum heater and the platinum electrode for sensing layer were designed on that same plane and fabricated in the single photolithography process. The thermal analyses including temperature distribution over the diaphragm and power consumption of the heater were carried by finite t m. The thermal properties of the microsensor with both heater and tensing electrode on the same plane was compared with that of the typical microsensor which had the structure of sensing layer/insulator/heater on the diaphragm.

N/A Optical fiber sensors have been used to detect small amounts of chemical species. In this work, a new thin polymer-clad fiber sensor is developed. Polyaniline is chemically synthesized and thin clad layers of the polymer are easily deposited on optical fiber by dip-coating technique. The optical property of polyaniline as a sensing material is analyzed by UV-Ms-NIR. The light source is stabilized He-Ne laser at635 nm wavelength with 1 mW power. The light power transmitted through the optical fiber is measured with a spectrophotometer. By selecting a fixed incident angle, variation of transmitted light intensity through the optical fiber can be detected as gas molecules absorbed in the polyaniline clad layer. Among the various gases, the fabricated optical fiber sensor shows good sensitivity to NH3 gas. The optical fiber sensors was shown more improved properties than polymer based sensors which measure conductivity changes.

A coprecipitation method as used for preparing Ca and Pt doped SnO₂-based material. Crystallite site and specific surface area are investigated by TEM, XRD and BET analysis. SnO₂(Ca)/Pt based thick film devices were prepared by a screen printing technique for hydrocarbon gas detecting. $quot;then the electrical and sensing characteristics of devices were investigated. Ca and Ft addition, the crystal growth of SnO₂ was suppressed during calcining and sintering, and the sensitivity of SnO₂ (Ca)/Pt thick film to gas was enhanced. Also any difference in the sensing toroperties has to be attributed to the Pt and 1u electrode. For the 200 ppm CH₄ the sensitivity of SnO₂(Ca)/Pt thick film devices were about 83% at an operating temperature of 400℃.

Potentiometric cell oxygen sensors using CaF₂ were fabricated for monitering the oxygen partial pressure in the low temperature range (300℃∼500℃). The disk type oxygen sensors consist of a reference electrode : Air(O₂:21%)|Pt. a solid electrolyte CaF₂, and a sensing metel Pt electrode. And the change in open circuit emf of the disk type cell was about 45mV for the oxygen concentration range, 0.1%∼10%, at the cell temperature of 400. Also, the reference electrode incorporated type sensor showed the change of 40mV for 0.19% to 10% oxygen partial pressure range.
