        상심자추출물 등 복합물의 퇴행성관절염 억제효과

        Complex of mulberry extract (CME) is composed of extracts of mulberry (Morus alba L.) fruit, mulberryleaves and black beans (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). In this study, we investigated prevention effects of CME on degenerativearthritis. The SC50 value of DPPH radical scavenging by CME was 158.49±11.35㎍/mL. We found that CME significantlyreduced the production of nitric oxide (NO) and protein expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in RAW 264.7 cells whichwere activated by LPS. Experiments using animal model of degenerative arthritis showed that CME (400㎎/㎏ bodyweight) inhibited the production of TNF-α (77.5%) and IL-1β (95.0%). Furthermore, it was observed that CME reduced to85.9% of paw edema induced by carrageenan. These results suggest that CME could improve degenerative arthritis.

        Fruit Quality of ‘Tsugaru’ Apples Influenced by Meteorological Elements

        An analytical study was conducted in 2002 to observe the relationship betwen meteorological elementsand the fruit quality of Tsugaru apples at 8 orchards. The higher average air temperature in Augustmade a higher content of soluble solids, but showed a lower anthocyanin content. As the average airtemperature from April through August increased, flesh firmnes decreased; and as the maximum airobserved that the cytohistological characteristics of Tsugaru apples were correlated with the average airtemperature during the growing season. As average air temperature during the growing season increased,the epidermal layer of the fruit skin became thinner, starch density in the flesh decreased, intercellularspace was larger, and tissue structure became looser.

        사과 ‘쓰가루’ 수확전 낙과와 동녹 발생에 영향을 미치는 기후 조건

        To find out the weather conditions affecting preharvest drop and skin russet in Tsugaru apple, a correlative analysis was conducted between the occurrence and the microclimate conditions obtained from Agricultural Weather Service. The meteorological elements closely related with preharvest fruit drop were mean air temperature from April to August, accumulated air temperature above 20oC during growth season, night air temperature in August, and soil temperature in August. In addition, diurnal range, freezing duration time, and dew duration from April to May were also related with russet occurrence. In the final analysis, the obtained results were analyzed with multiple regressions between the occurrence and various meteorological elements. ‘쓰가루’ 사과의 수확전 낙과와 동녹이 발생할 수 있는 기후 조건을 알아보기 위하여 발생 정도를 조사한 후 이를 Automatic Weather Station에서 관측한 국지 기후 자료와 상관 분석을 하였다. 수확 전 낙과와 가장 관계가 있는 기상 요소는 4월부터 8월까지의 평균 기온, 생육기 중 20oC 이상 적산 온도, 8월의 야간 기온, 8월의 지온이었다. 또한 동녹의 발생은 4월에서 5월까지의 일교차, 0oC 이하 동결 지속 시간, 결로 시간과 상관이 있었다. 이상의 결과를 수확전 낙과와 동녹 발생을 예측할 수 있는 기초적인 다중회귀 모형을 작성하였다.

        Puromycin Aminonucleoside 투여로 초래된 백서신증에 $\alpha$-tocopherol이 미치는 영향

        목 적 : 사람의 미세변화 신증후군과 유사한 신증을 일으키는 것으로 알려진 puromycin aminonucleoside (PAN)의 1회 투여로 발생하는 신세포의 변화는 여러 기전이 작용하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 최근에는 oxygen free radical이 사구체 손상의 중요한 한 가지 원인이라고 한다. 백서에 PAN을 투여하여 신증을 발생시킨 후, $\alpha$-tocopherol을 투여하였을 때 PAN신증에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하고자 한다. 방 법 : 건강한 수컷 Sprague-Dawley 흰 쥐를 3군으로 나누어, 1군은 생리 식염수를 1회 투여한 대조군(N=6), II군은 PAN 1회 단독 투여군 (N=8), III군은 PAN투여 후 $\alpha$-tocopherol을 투여한 군 (N=7)으로 하였다. PAN 투여 직전과 투여 후 5일, 11일, 18일에 24시간 뇨의 protein, creatinine을 측정하였고, 18일째에는 혈청 protein, albumin, cholesterol도 함께 측정하였다. 또한 Oxygen free radical에 의한 신장 조직 손상을 평가하기 위해 신장 피질 미세균질액의 lipid peroxide와 reduced glutathione을 측정하였다. 결 과 : PAN투여 5일 후 24시간 뇨 protein/creatinine비는 II군과 III군에서 대조군에 비해 유의하게 증가하였다(P<0.01), 그러나 18일째에는 $\alpha$-tocopherol를 투여한 III군이 PAN을 단독 투여한 II군에 비해 유의하게 단백뇨가 적었다 (P<0.05). 신장 피질의 lipid peroxide과 reduced glutathione은 III군에 비해 II군에서 유의하게 증가하였다(P<0.05). 18일째의 신조직의 형태학적 변화는 PAN단독으로 투여한 II군에서는 사구체 상피세포의 족돌기가 심하게 융합되어 있으나, $\alpha$-tocopherol을 투여한 III군에서는 족돌기가 잘 보존되고 있었다. 결 론 : PAN투여로 초래된 백서 신증에서 $\alpha$-tocopherol의 투여는 lipid peroxidation의 진행을 차단하여 족돌기의 손상을 회복시키며 단백뇨의 배설도 감소시키는 것으로 사료된다. Purpose The single administration of PAN(Puromycin-Aminonudeoside) to rats results in nephropathy that are similar to human minimal change nephrotic syndrome. Recently several studies indicate the pathophyslological importance of oxygen free radicals in rats with PAN-induced nephrosis. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of $\alpha$-tocopherol, an oxygen free radical scavenger, on the histologic and biochemical changes of PAN-induced nephrosis in rats. Methods : Twenty-one Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 180-300 gm were divided into 3 groups. In group I (control group), the rats were given saline intraperitoneally for 12 days, in group II the rats were given PAN 7.5mg/100g of body weight intravenously one time and group III PAN intravenously, followed by $\alpha$-tocopherol 0.5 mg/100g of body weight jntramuscularly for 12 days. Twenty four hour urinary protein and creatinine excretion were measured on day 0, 5, 11 and 18. On the 18th day, rats were sacrificed for the determination of total serum protein, albumin and cholesterol levels. To estimate renal injuries by oxygen free radical, lipid peroxide concentration and reduced glutathione were measured in renal cortex. Histological examination in rat glomerular lesions were performed. Results : From the 5th days of PAN administration, urine protein/creatinine of group II and III were significantly increased compared the group I (P<0.05). But, urine protein/creatinine of group III was significantly lower than group II at 18th days (P<0.05). Total serum protein and albumin of group II were significantly lower than those of group III (P<0.05). Serum cholesterol of group II was significantly higher than that of group III (P<0.05). Lipid peroxide and reduced glutathione in renal cortex of group II were significantly higher than that of group I and III (P<0.05). Electron microscopic strudies of group II showed the loss of epithelial foot processes, but in group III showed preservation of epithelial foot processes. Conclusion : PAN-induced nephropathy was ameliorated significant recovery of foot process change and reduction of the urinary protein excretion by antioxidant, $\alpha$-tocopherol.

        Fruit Appearance Improvement by Using Filter-Attached Paper Bags in ‘Niitaka’ Pears

        Fruits on ‘Niitaka’ pear trees (Pyrus pyrifolia) were managed with bagging for the purpose of appearance improvement at the experimental field in National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Suwon, Korea from 2003 to 2005. The paper bag consisted of outer and inner layers of yellow and yellow papers or black and blue papers with or without filter attachment. The application of double layer paper bag in pear fruit management brought about wide numeric distribution in certain measurements of fruit characteristics as 631.2 to 650.5 g in fruit weight and 204 to 231 N in flesh firmness, but failed to show statistical significance. However, fruit skin coloring was significantly improved by the application of double layer paper bag. The Hunter values were slightly increased by the application of normal type paper bag recording up to 49.9 in ‘L’ and 22.4 in ‘b’ and demonstrated more or less large increase by the application of filter-attached paper bag recording 54.4 in ‘L’ and 22.9 in ‘b’. Fruits with normal type paper bag showed the incidence frequencies of fruit skin damage as 14.2% by air pollutants and 8.3% by insects (Pseudococcus comstocki). These frequencies were significantly decreased by the application of filter-attached paper bag, reducing to approximate 2% in both observations. Fruits with normal type paper bag showed severe occurrence of skin russet on fruit stalk cavity by the abundant amount of inflowing air pollutants on epidermis. The application of filter-attached paper bag noticeably decreased the skin russet occurrence and the inflow of air pollutants.

        사과 쓰가루 품종의 과실 품질에 영향을 미치는 기후요인

        본 실험은사과원의 위치에 따라 국지기후조건이 다양함을 보여주었으며, 이와 같이 다양한 기후환경은 과실의 품질에 직간접적으로 많은 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 즉, 당함량과 anthocyanin 함량은 8월의 평균기온에 따라 다른 것으로 나타났으며 일정한 상관관계를 가지고 있었다. 또한 4월에서 8월까지의 평균기온과 과육의 경도 사이에 일정한 상관이 인정 되었으며, 4월에서 8월까지의 최고기온과 Hunter a 값 사이에도 상관관계가 인정되었다. 이러한 기후조건의 범위는 세포조직학적 특성에도 영향을 주었다. 따라서, 사과 주산지의 과실 품질은 기후의 여양을 크게 받아 매우 다양하게 나타나는 것으로 조사되었다.
