Voices in the Park 영어 그림책의 포스트모더니즘 시각에 관한 연구

영어의 읽기 능력인 문해력 의 (literacy) 발달은 새로운 정보의 습득과 활용 면에서 중요해지고 있다. 그림과 글을 통해 현대적인 주제를 잘 담아낸 영어 그림책은 외국어 문해력 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있는 좋은 교육 매체가 될 수 있다. 국제화와 함께 영어는 단순한 의사소통 수단을 넘어서, 전 세계의 중요한 정보를 이해하고 활용하는 도구가 되고 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 그림책 작가 앤서니 브라운(Anthony Browne)의 영어 그림책 Voices in the Park을 소개한다. Voices in the Park은 엄마, 아빠, 엄마의 아들과 아빠의 딸이라는 네 명의 각자 다른 등장인물이 공원에서 겪은 짧은 일화를 다채로운 그림과 짤막한 글로 엮었다. 네 명의 주인공은 1인칭 주인공 시점으로 자신의 이야기를 서술하는데, 단순하고 짧은 영어 문장으로 구성되어 있으며 주제 면에서 어린이들뿐만 아니라 어른에게도 생각할 여지를 남겨주는 그림책이다. 앤서니 브라운은 Voices in the Park 작품 속에서 그림과 글이 함께 존재하는 상호텍스트성의 특징, 아이 소외 현상과 자아존중감과 같은 현대적인 주제, 사회변화의 흐름과 요구에 따른 부모의 행동과 태도변화 요구 등을 반영하고 있다. 특히 Voices in the Park는 한 권의 책에 네 명의 주인공이 동일한 시간과 장소에서 서로 연결되면서도 각각의 상황과 감정, 생각 등을 다르게 표현하고 있으며, 각자 다르게 표현된 네 가지의 관점은 포스트모더니즘의 특징을 갖고 있다고 할 수 있다. This study attempts to introduce an English picture book Voices in the Park written and illustrated by Anthony Browne, an inspiring contemporary English picture book author. This study also hopes to reveal the key components of Anthony Browne`s works which can be applied in learning and teaching English, although authentic English picture books have rarely been considered in connection with English reading and learning. Browne has shown rather post-modern themes and perspectives centering on powerlessness, alienation, self-esteem, and sympathy from the four characters as a mother, a father, Charles, and Smudge respectively in the Voices in the Park. The readers of this book can engage in an active puzzling of information and feel the empathy to the characters in the book.

주얼리 판매 서비스의 관계혜택이 구전의도 및 관계유지의도에 미치는 영향

주얼리 상품은 관여도가 높고, 맞춤주문이 많이 이루어지며 사후 A/S 문제 발생도 빈번하기 때문에 판매자와 소비자와의 지속적인 거래관계가 매우 중요하다. 따라서, 관계성과를 높이는 요인을 분석하는 연구가 요구되고 있으나, 주얼리 산업과 관련한 연구는 많이 부족한 실정이며 더구나 장기적인 고객과의 관계를 구축하기위해 판매원과 소비자의 관계를 통해 발생하는 관계혜택에 관련한 소비자 측면의 실증 연구는 거의 없다. 이러한 연구의 필요성에 따라서 본 연구에서 고객이 지각하는 관계혜택을 주얼리 판매 서비스 특성에 맞게 네 가지로 세분화하였으며, 이 세부 요인들이 각각 신뢰와 어떠한 영향관계를 가지며 또한 이때 형성된 신뢰가 고객이 구매과정에서 판매자 측에 대한 애착감이나 호의를 가지게 되는 몰입에 어떠한 영향을 미치게 되는지 그리고, 몰입과 구전의도, 관계유지의도와 같은 장기적 관계지향성의 영향관계에 대해 실증적으로 검정하였다. 본 연구는 학문적인 차원에서는 그간 주얼리 산업의 선행이론에서 다루어지지 않았던 관계혜택을 다루어 세부적인 차원으로 효과를 측정한 것에 새로운 시도를 하였다고 할 수 있으며 또한 관계혜택과 구전의도, 관계유지의도와 같은 관계지향성간의 인과관계를 구조방정식 모형을 통해 검정하면서 신뢰와 몰입의 매개효과를 살핀 것으로 관계지향성에 관한 연구에 심도를 더하고자한데 의미를 두고 있다. 실무적인 차원에서는 선행 연구가 많이 부족한 주얼리 구매 고객을 대상으로 한 실증 분석의 결과를 통해 현업에 적용할 수 있는 정보를 제공하여 제품과 서비스의 특성이 융합된 판매형태인 주얼리의 판매에 있어 장기적인 고객관리를 위해 적용할 수 있는 현실적인 마케팅 전략에 중요한 시사점을 제공하였다 할 수 있다. This study aims to verify the impact of relational benefits associated with jewelry shops on consumers" trust, commitment, WOM, and relation retention intention. And provides useful strategic implications for jewelry businesses in their attempt to reinforce the customers" loyalty from the perspective of customer relationship management. The study constructed a research model based on causal relationships among relational benefits, trust, commitment, WOM and retention intention and conducted a questionnaire survey using convenience sampling method. We collected data from 227 respondents located in jewelry district of Seoul and we performed regression analysis to confirm the research hypotheses after performing reliability and validity tests. The result of the analysis showed that out of 4 types of relational benefits (economic, social, psychological, and customization), only psychological and customization benefits exerted positive impact on consumers" trust. And commitment was found to positively influence both WOM and retention intention. This finding provides useful directions for formulating customer relationship management. This study provides highly original results in regards to jewelry customers" decision to continue their loyalty toward jewelry brands. Also it is noteworthy that the study finding provides important theoretical implications concerning the partial impact of relational benefits on consumers" trust.

The Effects of Self-recording Videos on the Development of Middle School Students’ EFL Skills in Korea

The purpose of this study is to identify the perception of EFL learners on how effective Self- recording Video as a learning technique is. In order to do so, 1) the improvement of language skills and 2) the spontaneity of learning as well as its effects on motivation have been examined. During the three months, nine middle school students were asked to choose what they wanted to learn from English clips on YouTube, and make videos of themselves practicing the content selected, emulating the lines from original clips, changing words or sentences, and keeping a detailed journal about challenges encountered and results achieved. After a number of monitoring activities, they had performed, the subjects of the study perceived the improvements in their vocabulary, grammar, idiom knowledge, pronunciation, accent, or syntax. To gather data and analyze it, each time a video was created, participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire with 21 questions, and have interviews. As an analysis tool, the ‘Likert Scale’ and graphs and figures were obtained using Microsoft Excel. As a result, the learners became aware of their own progress, recognizing that their autonomous learning ability and all four language skills slightly improved.

실제성이 포함된 교수 학습 자료가,아동의 영어 학습 태도에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study is to suggest a way of improving class authenticity by using authentic items and tasks. In total, 88 elementary students from two groups participated in the study. The experimental group was instructed with authentic items. This group viewed a video clip, made by the teacher, in which students and English teachers engaged in a shopkeeper-customer role play, and held their own English flea market with Korean currency and items they brought from home. Meanwhile, the control group was instructed with picture cards, the conversation video clip of the textbook CD-ROM, and the textbook-based buying and selling activity. The results reveal that even a tiny little thing such as a ball is able to create more interest among learners than the picture card. It also suggests if the learners feel close to the people on the video clip, they show more interest in the topic.

항공사 객실승무원의 심리적 주인의식이 직무열의와 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향

This study is about psychological ownership of cabin crew which is to verify the effects on job engagement and organization citizenship behavior. The data were collected from the valid questionnaires completed by 205 cabin crew members of Korean air. The results show that the cabin crew’s psychological ownership of the organization has positive effects on devotion and dedication of job engagement. The cabin crew’s psychological ownership of the job has positive effects on dedication, vigor and absorption of job engagement. The cabin crew’s vigor and absorption of job engagement have a positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior. This paper conveys the importance of psychological ownership for cabin crew to lead the job engagement and organizational citizenship behavior for the company and it provides academic and practical implications.

영어 학습을 통한 학습자 자율성과 정체성 고찰

This paper introduces research on the concepts of learner autonomy, learning strategy, and social identity and explores the major perspectives and key positions concerning these issues. Within a recent decade a great deal of research has been carried out on 1 earner-centered instruction in the United States as well as around world. The number of scholarly works is compatible with the ever-increasing English as a foreign language learning populations, the desire for self-esteem, and the birth of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) education in the United States. Since the late 1970's, CLT has tried to provide learners with the value of their own responsibilities in learning and teaching at the same time. In this paper, it is necessary to define learner autonomy, learning strategy, and social identity. Second, the learning strategies toward implementation of learner autonomy in class are described. Then the positive value of social identity and its effects on learners of English as a foreign language is discussed. 최근 영어교육 특히 영어를 외국어로 학습하는 교육환경에서는효과적인 외국어습득을 위해서 무엇보다 학습자의 역할이 매우 중요하다는 사실에 많은 연구자들이 공감하고 있다. 외국어 학습, 특히 영어 학습을 제한된 학습 장소와 부족한 노출시간에도 성공적으로 성취하기 위해서는 스스로 학습의 목표를 찾고, 이를 위한 노력을 자기 스스로 감독하는 학습자 자율성이 중요하며 (learner autonomy)의 이의 가치가 계속 높아지고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문은 학습자 자율성이 영어교육에 등장한 상황과 학습자 자율성의 중요성, 학습자 자율성을 실제 학습 상황에서 적용하기 위한 학습 전략 (learner strategy)에 대한 개념을 살펴보고, 이와 관련 된 내용들을 종합적으로 분석하고자 한다. 또한 학습과 사회와의 관련속에서 학습자 스스로가 깨닫는 사회적 정체성 (social identity) 역시 성인학습자들의 학습에서 고려 되야 하는 것으로 사료됨에 따라, 이에 대한 개념과 학습 상황과의 관련도 살펴본다

Heritage Language and The Major Perspectives Concerning Biligualism

최근 10여년간 미국은 물론, 전 세계적으로 소수 언어 화자에 관한 연구가 급격히 증가하였으며, 이러한 연구의 증가추세는 궁극적으로는 빠른 속도로 늘어나는 이민자 수, 다양성에 대한 열망, 그리고 이중 언어 교육의 부활에 대한 요구와 궤를 같이한다. 이에 따라 본 논문은 제 1언어 (first language) 모국어 (mother tongue) 와 유사한 개념으로 사용되는 전통 언어(heritage language)의 개념과 이중 언어와의 관계를 살펴보고, 이와 관련된 내용들을 종합적으로 분석하고자 한다. 전통언어와 영어가 함께 사용되는 대부분의 이중 언어 사회에서는 한 가지의 언어, 특히 영어가 사회의 지배적인 의사소통의 수단으로서, 언어학적으로 상위 계층의 지위를 누리는 것이 당연시 되어왔다. 또한 소수 언어를 유지시키려는 다양한 노력에도 불구하고, 영어와 다른 소수 언어 간의 불평등한 위치는 그대로 유지되고 있다. 영어는 현재 미국 내에서는 말할 것도 없이 지구촌화의 가속화와 함께 전 세계적으로 아주 특별한 위치를 누리고 있다. 본 논문은 이중 언어와 다중언어 사회가 무엇인지 정의하고, 영어교육 역사에서 나타난 이중 언어 교육에 대한 부정적인 태도를 다루고 있다. 이와 더불어 최근에 큰 힘을 얻고 있는 이중 언어의 새로운 가치와 그에 따른 소수 언어, 전통 언어의 유지 노력을 짚어본다. This paper introduces research on the concepts of heritage language and bilingualism and explores the major perspectives and key positions concerning these issues. Within a recent decade a great deal of research has been carried out on linguistic minorities in the United States as well as around world. The number of scholarly works is compatible with the ever-increasing immigrant populations, the desire for diversity, and the rebirth of bilingual education in the United States. Since the late 1960’s, minority language communities have tried to maintain their languages in the spirit of the “new ethnicity” movement (Fishman, 1980, p. 167). Since the society in which a traditional language and English are maintained, bilingualism is almost always diglossic in multilingual society. One language, usually English, enjoys a higher linguistic status as a dominant, powerful communicative medium in many of these societies. English currently enjoys a global prestige that is unequalled and threatens the status of any other language in the United States as well as in the globalized world. Regardless of numerous endeavors among linguistic minority groups in recent years, the historic imbalance still exists between English and other heritage languages in the United States. Therefore, in this paper, it is necessary to define bilingualism and multilingualism. Second, the negative language planning traditions toward bilingualism in the United States is described. Then the positive rebirth of bilingualism and its effects on heritage language maintenance is discussed.

생활영어회화 과제물을통해 본 블렌디드 러닝 효율성 연구

컴퓨터와 인터넷의 발달은 교육환경에 큰 변화를 가져왔고, 이에 따라 시간이나 장소의 제약을 받던 과거 전통적인 교실 수업의 제 약에서 벗어나 학습자가 원하는 시간에 원하는 장소에서 할 수 있는 비교적 자유로운 새로운 형태의 교육이 등장하게 됨에 따라, 최근에는 오프라인 대학에서도 정규 교과목을 온라인으로 제공하고자 하는 노력을 강화하고 있는 추세이다. 본 논문은 오프라인 대학에서 온라인 과목으로 개설된 생활영어회화 과목을 통해 블렌디드 러닝 (blended learning)의 효율성을 살펴본 연구로, 특히 초급 수준의 영어 능력을 갖고 있는 대규모의 학생들에게 충분한 영어 발화 기회를 주고자 구성된 과업의 종류와 효과를 자세히 살펴보았다. 생활영어회화 과목의 개발자와 운영자로 구성된 연구자들은 학생들에 대한 설문조사와 과제물 평가를 통해,온라인으로 진행되는 수업도 학생들에게 영어 발화 기회를 제공할 수 있었다는 것을 밝혔다. 또한 온라인 과목의 과제물의 경우, 수강 학생들이 특히 외국어 발화에 대한 심리적 부담감이 없이 여러 차례의 반복과 수정 과정을 거칠 수 있기 때문에 대화와 희화에 대한 두려움을 줄일 수 있다는 긍정적인 면이 있는 것으로 나타났다. This study examines the blended method of English conversation which is applicable to large-scale, low proficiency students and based on given taskes that produce effects in English conversation. The development of information and communication technology brought rapid social changes throughout politics, economy, society and culture and has had a major effect on the educational sector. Removing itself from traditional classroom lessons of the past that were restricted by time or place, this new-type of education is relatively free from time and place restrictions and has appeared to say. Although online classes enjoy the benefits of transcending the restrictions of time and place, online English conversation classes are still experiencing difficulty in promoting the speaking skills of learners. Therefore, the researchers suggest the task of speaking and recording as a method to induce learner’s speaking. This study revealed that online classes can provide sufficient opportunities for speech - and may even provide the opportunity for conversation through the blended learning method. (195)

무역영어 검정시험 자격기준 개발을 위한 연구

본 논문은 무역영어 검정시험의 자격기준 개발을 위한 기초연구로, 현행 무역영어 시험이 특정목적을 위한 영어 (English for Specific Purposes, ESP) 평가로서의 자격을 갖추고 있는지에 대한 검토와, 영어 능력 시험 목표에 더 적합한 자격기준을 제안하기 위해 다른 나라의 영어 시험 자격기준에 대하여 조사하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 특정 목적을 위한 영어 (ESP) 평가의 중요성을 언급하였으며, 관련된 외국의 직무영어 시험을 기술하였다. 이와 함께, 자격기준의 필요성 및 다른 나라의 영어 능력 자격 기준을 자세히 제시함으로써, 향후 무역영어 검정시험의 구체적인 검정기준을 보다 상세히 개발할 수 있도록 하였다. This study examines the Test of Trade English in Korea aiming at finding the way to improve the current existing standards. It also aims for introducing major English for Specific Purposes (ESP) tests in other countries and exploring the characteristics of BEC, BULATS, ILEC, and ICFE respectively, since the Korean Trade English Test shares the key issues with the above-mentioned tests. This paper draws an attention to define what English proficiency means in light of Trade English in order to provide the suggestions and implications placing the Trade English Test to be a qualified ESP as well as English proficiency test.
