Purpose: We report a case of post‐traumatic bilateral serous retinal detachment that resolved spontaneously within a month. Case summary: An 8-year-old male patient presented with post-traumatic bilateral serous retinal detachment and decreased visual acuity. We did not perform any specific treatment. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), fluorescein angiography (FA), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and slit lamp examination were used. Conclusions: After 1 month, the patient’s BCVA improved to 1.0 in both eyes, and serous retinal detachment resolved; FA findings and OCT findings were nearly normal. 병적 근시가 황반 원공 수술 결과에 미치는 영향

Purpose: To evaluate if the presence of pathologic myopia could affect the result of macular hole surgery. Methods: This study was a retrospective comparison of the results of macular hole surgery between a pathologic myopia group (11 eyes) and a non-pathologic myopia group (14 eyes). All patients had undergone PPV, ILM peeling and C3F8 (20%) gas temponade. BCVA, IOP and OCT findings were evaluated preoperatively and at 6 months after surgery. Postoperative BCVA, IOP and macular hole closure were compared between each groups. Results: The only statistically significant preoperative parameter between the groups was axial length (p < 0.001). Postoperative BCVA was lower in the pathologic myopia group, but the difference was not statistically significant. The rate of macular hole closure was statistically significant higher in the non-pathologic myopia group (p < 0.001). Conclusions: The presence of pathologic myopia may negatively affect the result of macular hole surgery.

We have presented detected molecules, atoms, radicals, ions, and dimers in the atmospheres of planets and comets from Earth-based and spaceborne observatories during the last 3 decades. We have reviewed spectroscopic studies on the auroral emissions and air glows of the giant planets, and briefly summarized spectroscopic observations of dimers in the atmospheres of the giant planets and Titan. In particular, we highlighted the recent detections of new molecular emissions and absorptions in the spectra of the giant planets, Titan, and recent bright comets from spaceborne or ground-based observatories. We also reviewed current models and theories of the origin and evolution of the solar system, and implications of isotopic ratios in these atmospheres.

Responsible Behavior of the Firm

This study postulates that the inconclusive relationship between social and financial performance may be based on different motivation to engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR). As an unexplored dimension of the motivation for CSR actions, we propose the aspect that firms seek for enhancing ethical status, called conspicuous CSR. Drawn from the theory on conspicuous consumption (Veblen, 1899), we explore the possibilities that firms may spend their resources for society to reveal their ethical status. This implies that firms are likely to engage in CSR to advertise their CSR status. From this standpoint, we attempt to discern the behavioral aspect that a firm’s prosocial activities are dependent on its prior ethical status. And we investigate how different motivations, i.e. strategic CSR vs. conspicuous CSR, affect financial performance, especially instantiated by Tobin’s q. With a sample of 1,665 U.S. public firms between 1993 and 2012, we find that conspicuous CSR has a negative impact on market performance while strategic CSR has a positive impact. We expect that these findings can reconcile the inconclusive debate on the CSR-CFP relationship.

한일관계의 안정과 지속: 정치지도자의 메시지 전달과 정향을 중심으로

본 연구는 국가 간 관계의 안정성은 정치지도자들의 메지지 전달양상과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 전제로 분석을 진행한다. 특히, 메시지의 전달양상과 메시지의 정향이라는 두가지 변수를 바탕으로 지난 50년간의 한일관계의 안정성에 영향을 미쳤던 세 개의 사례와 미칠 가능성이 높은 한 가지 사례를 분석한다. 첫째, 메시지의 전달양상에서는 쌍방형에 해당하고, 메시지의 정향에서는 내부지향의 성격을 가지는 경우이다. 이 경우에 정치지도자는 ``독선적 대화(self-righteous dialogue)``형의 의사표출을 할 가능성이 높다. 1965년의 한일국교정상화는 이러한 성격의 메시지 전달양상을 내포하고 있다. 둘째, 메시지의 전달양상에서는 위의 경우와 유사하게 쌍방형에 해당하고, 메시지의 정향에서는 차이가 나는 외부지향의 성격을 가지는 경우이다. 이 경우에 정치지도자는 ``상호적 대화(reciprocal dialogue)형``의 의사표출을 할 가능성이 높다. 1998년의 한일파트너십 공동선언이 이 경우에 해당한다. 셋째, 메시지의 전달양상에서는 위와 동일한 일방형에 해당하지만, 메시지의 정향에서는 외부지향의 성격을 가진다는 점에서 차이가 나는 경우이다. 이 경우에 국가는 ``배려적 독백(considerate monologue)``형의 의사표출을 할 가능성이 높다. 무라야마의 담화가 이 경우에 해당하는 것으로 간주한다. 넷째, 메시지 전달양상에서 일방형, 그리고 메시지 성격과 정향에서는 내부지향의 경우로, 정치지도자는 ``배타적 독백(exclusive monologue)``형의 의사표출을 하는 개연성이 있다. 아베의 담화가 이러한 경향을 보일 우려가 있다. 이상의 사례분석에서 본 연구는 쌍방형이며, 외부지향의 메시지 전달방법을 택하였을 때, 한일관계의 안정성은 높아진다고 분석하였다. 다른 한편 연구는 관계의 지속성의 문제는 안정성과는 다른 영역에서 설명될 수 있는 것으로 파악하며, 지속성 여부는 특히 일본 정치가들의 과거사에 대한 인식의 변화와 적극적 해결에 달려있다고 본다. Many existing studies have focused on the dynamic elements which significantly have hindered the relations between South Korea and Japan. This study raises a question, how the ways of communications between political leaders effected the stable and sustainable relationship between two countries. There are four different cases of communication; (1) unilateral and inward message-centered communication, (2) unilateral and outward messagecentered communication, (3) bilateral and inward message-centered communication, (4) bilateral and outward message-centered communication. The first, is possibly, the case of 1950 Korea-Japan Normalization, characterized as "self-righteous dialogue." The second is the case of 1998 Korea-Japan Partnership Statement, characterized as "reciprocal dialogue." The third is the case of Murayama Statement, characterized as "considerative monologue." The last one is the case of Abe Statement which is scheduled in August 2015, which would be characterized as "exclusive monologue" if he would take a position of negating Murayama statement. The study concludes that the bilateral and outward message-centered communication is more likely to ensure the stable and sustainable Korea-Japan relationship.

3D 지도와 결합된 실시간 증강현실 건물 안내 시스템의 설계 및 구현

최근 스마트폰을 이용한 증강현실 기반 건물 안내 어플리케이션들은 사용자의 위치와 목표 건물의 위치 간의 거리에 상관없이 동일한 고정 형태로 정보를 보여주고 있고, 특히 다수의 목표 건물들이 근접하여 위치하고 있을 때 제공 정보들이 중첩하여 디스플레이 됨에 따라 정보 전달력이 떨어지는 제한점이 있다. 또한, 기존 증강 현실 기반 어플리케이션에서 사용자의 현재 위치를 직관적으로 파악하는 데는 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 제한점을 해결하고자 사용자와 건물의 위치에 따라 정보객체의 위치와 크기가 적응적으로 제공되고, 사용자의 위치가 실시간으로 표시되는 3D 지도를 제공함으로써 사용자들이 직관적으로 자신의 위치와 건물의 위치를 파악할 수 있도록 하는 안내 시스템을 설계 구현하였다. 본 논문에서 제시한 증강현실 기반 건물 안내 시스템은 서울시 중구에 위치한 덕수궁내의 건물 안내에 초점을 맞추어 제작되었다. Recently, augmented reality(AR) based building information applications using a smart phone provide information in the static form irrespective of the distance between a user and a target building. If many target buildings are located close to each other, discrimination of information is reduced due to overlapping information objects. Furthermore, it is difficult to intuitively grasp the current position of the user in the previous AR-based applications. In this paper, to solve these limitations, we have designed and implemented a novel building information system in which the location and size of information objects are adaptively displayed according to locations of a user and target buildings, and which allows users to intuitively understand their location by providing a 3D map that displays the user’s location and all target buildings within a given distance in real-time. The AR-based building information application proposed in this paper focuses on the building guide in Deoksu Palace in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Hepatic artery aneurysms are rare lesions and have ifficulty in diagnosis and treatment. Upper abdominal pain accompanied by recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding can be a suspicious sign of the hepatic artery aneurysm. Ultrasonography is the screening diagnostic tool, but preoperative evaluation of the aneurysm and collaterals to the liver is well accomplished by the angiography. Surgical therapy is needed because the aneurysms have a significant propensity toward rupture and its high mortality. Maintanence of the hepatic blood flow after artery ligation should be considerd, but hepatocellular survival is possible due to collaterals, increased oxygen uptake from portal vein. Percutaneous transcatheter embolization is alternative to surgery and has gained clinical application in recent years, especially intrahepatic aneurysm and active bleeding. We experienced a 53-year old woman who underwent recurrent upper gastrointerstinal bleeding and duodenal ulcer was suspected by endoscopy. She was intractabel to the surgery to ulcer bleeding and suspicious mass was paepated on the and portion of the duodenum, so, angiography was done and revealed that the thumb tip sized proper hepatic artery aneurysm was presnet. We treated it successfully with transcatheter coil embolization & report it now.
