A review of empirical studies indicates that students' ratings can provide reliable and valid information on the quality of courses and instruction. Such information can be of use to academic departments in constructing normative data for the evaluation of teaching and may aid the individual instructor in improving his teaching effectiveness. Numerous investigators reported acceptable stability and internal consistency of ratings; responses apparently were not biased by particular experience atypical of a course. Research findings suggest that the criteria used by students in their ratings of instructors had much more to do with the quality of the presentation of material than with the entertainment value of the course perse. Such attributes as preparedness, clarity, and stimalution of students intelleitual curiosity were typically mentioned by students in describing their best instructors. Correlations between course rating and grade received, when observed at all, tended to be small, and several studies suggested that such correlations resulted from greater interest in the course by the students receiving better grades, rather than from a "reward effect". There was also some evidence that feedback in the form of student ratings may improve the teacher‘s performance(as evaluated by students)

논문의 주제를 탐구함에 있어서 기본 전제는 영재성이나 재능으로 알려진 소질을 수유하고 있고 영재 학생 본인이 이를 육성, 연마해서 동일시의 대상처럼 최고의 인물로 대성하고자 하는 노력, 의욕(욕망)과 도전정신을 나타내고 이를 이끌어 주고(pull & push) 뒷받침하는 부모 가족의 헌신적이고 열성적인 열정, 이 매우 뛰어난 어우러져서 영재성이 발휘되고 인물이 출현하게 된다는 것이지만, 이 논문에서는 영재성 발달에 가족이 끼치는 영향에 관한 논의를 하는 것으로 범위를 한정하여 설명을 전개해 나가고자 한다.
