Compaction water content is a key variable which controls fundamental properties of compacted clay (permeability, deformation and strength). There are three conditions in compaction water content (i.e. dry of optimum, optimum and wet of optimum). Actually, soil mass by compaction is unsaturated condition before seepage therefore, soil suction is the key which is able to explain properties of compacted clay. This paper used results from compacted Pittsburg sandy clay tested under UU test condition from Duncan and Seed in order to determine hyperbolic parameters and simulated behavior of Soyanggang dam as a example. As the results of analysis, dry of optimum presents higher strength and smaller displacement. Wet of optimum is sensitive to water content. Both dry and wet of optimum, any hydraulic fracturing potential does not appear. But dry of optimum is close to hydraulic fracturing.
Wetting에 의한 필댐 상류측 shell의 거동특성

The primary objective of this paper is to see the behavior characteristics of rockfill dam due to wetting. There are many factors which affect the dam failure. One of them is the influence of reservoir filling. Differential movements in dam and foundation develop during reservoir filling, they induced cracking and consequent erosion, and sometimes caused dam failure. One of the major factors contributing to the development of differential movements during reservoir filling is the compression due to wetting which occurs in a wide variety of different types of soils including rockfill. To perform the numerical analysis of dam behavior adequately, the large-scaled triaxial test is needed to consider the effect of wetting on dry and wet rockfill material. But, As the large-scaled triaxial test is high capital cost and not available apparatus for a number of other experiment, it is not applied many case in the country. In this paper, the data of Oroville dam which performed the large-scaled triaxial test is referenced to find out stress-strain curve and hyperbolic parameters on wetting for modeled dam which is not performed the large-scaled triaxial test. So, effect of wetting on modeled dam can be considered for numerical analysis of dam behavior. As a result of numerical analysis, they estimate that horizontal and vertical displacement are increased with the rate of increasing wetting, and shear stress too. Because compression and shear strength is decreased with proceeding wetting. And results of analysis show that load transfer is not affect significantly by the wetting.

An electrical accident such as mishap electricity institution occurs frequently because of the increase of demand for electricity, complexity of electricity institution. The techniques that discovered a mishap to electricity institution are electric signal method and supersonic waves method, thermal sensing method by infrared rays. The IRR-camera which is effective monitoring method of electricity institution is diffused in industrial field. Specially, infrared rays monitoring can perceive heat which was visually poor observed objection. Also, infrared rays monitoring can monitor an area of difficulty of access of work human power. In this study, infrared rays monitoring of a transformer substation is periodically performed. The connection between possibility of application and operation, blazing fire occurrence and progress process of body and bushing of large capacity transformer are performed by IRR-camera.

Fractal mathematics using image processing is being highlighted as a research method for classification of electrical tree. for image analysis of tree pattern, the fractal mathematics processing is actively studied as a experimental new technique of electrical tree.. But the application of Fractal dimension(FD) has been required the complicated calculation method because of its complex repetition progressing. In this paper, it has been developed the new approach method to express the Semi-Fractal Dimension(SFD) for high-speed calculation and on-line measurement system using special image processing algorithm. As a result after SFD testing, the recognized area of SFD has a good linear characteristics compared to FD.

Generally the cracking in dams is one of the major problems which dam engineers encounter. Concenteated leaks which can result in internal erosion and piping phenomenon have frequently developed through embandment cracks located directly adjacent to rock abutments at the points of abrupt change in slope, and particularly adjacent to horizontal steps used for haul roads,grouting platforms, and so on . Many studies,such as observation, 1ab test and numerical snalysis have been conducted to reveal the mechanism of internal and expernal cracking. It is considered that unfavourable deformation and stress state are the direct cause of the cracking. Longitudinal and trasverse cracks on the crest is occurred by differential settlements in the core zone and differential deformation between adjacent zones and closely concerned with the fluctuation of water level. While during of after dam construction, the core zone with low stiffness can be in the state of low stress due to load transfer resulted from relative deformation against shell zones or adutments. In order to study cracking and leakage, Juam main dam is adopted to analyze deformation and stress condition. The results of numerical analysis and installation indicate that the tension zone of the right abutments is comparatively manifest and the stress-transfer of the upper part the core is more remarkable than lower part.
환기보조를 받는 근위축성 측색 경화증 환자에서 시행한 지속적 경막외 마취

Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is chronic progressive motor neuron disorder, not affecting sensory and autonomic function. As the disease progresses, a respiratory depression appears. Anesthesia and postoperative pain control in patient with ALS is challenging problems. Case Report: 56 years old man was scheduled for open reduction and internal fixation on the left distal femur. He was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease 10 years ago, and had tracheostomy 4 years ago. He used home ventilator and was unable to move by himself below the neck and. We chose epidural anesthesia with catheter to control the pain during the surgery and postoperative period. His home ventilator was to be used during surgery. Blocked sensory level was T12 by 0.75% hyperbaric ropivacaine 10 mL and he was stable during surgery. After 48 hours epidural catheter removed, no aggravation of neurologic and respiratory signs or symptoms were noted until he discharged. Discussion: ALS is characterized as neurodegenerative disease. Patient is progressively paralyzed while remaining fully alert. Respiratory failure is the main cause of death of ALS. General anesthesia can cause the increase in weakness of the respiratory function. Spinal and epidural anesthesia are not contraindication in ALS, and there is no data that spinal epidural anesthesia deteriorates neurologic function in patients with degenerative disease. Conclusion: ALS patient receiving ventilatory support successfully underwent the operation on the left distal femur under continuous epidural anesthesia without neurologic and respiratory aggravation.

N/A ficant GER among whom seven were confirmed to have true reflux related cough (cough induced by GER; 30.8±6.4%). Although the remained two have not only GER but cough, cough episodes were not directly related with GER events (cough induced by GER; 0%). Six among seven patients with reflux related cough showed good therapeutic response to anti-reflux medications but the other two patients with reflux not related cough did not. Conclusion: It is suggested that combined ambulatory 24hour esophageal pH and motility monitoring can provide an objective and good measurement for the discrimination of true reflux related cough episodes.
