        Organic Thin-Film-Transistor Arrays for Active-Matrix Display on Flexible Substrate

        Differently from a traditional inorganic transistor, the organic thin-film transistor can be fabricated at low temperature, so we can choose a light, thin, and cheap plastic substrate to replace glass substrate. Here, an organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) has been formed on plastic substrate. An active-matrix back plate with 64 × 128 pixels has been fabricated to drive a TNLCD. We achieved a field-effect mobility of 0.03 cm2/V·s and on/off current ratio of about 105 for the pentacene OTFT on plastic substrate. Besides vacuum deposition, these properties offer potential methods to fabricate OTFT on flat panel displays, such as spin coating, ink-jet printing, and even a roll-to-roll process.

        A Retrospective Study of the Effect of Spinopelvic Parameters on Fatty Infiltration in Paraspinal Muscles in Patients With Lumbar Spondylolisthesis

        Objective: The effect on fat infiltration (FI) of paraspinal muscles in degenerative lumbar spinal diseases has been demonstrated except for spinopelvic parameters. The present study is to identify the effect of spinopelvic parameters on FI of paraspinal muscle (PSM) and psoas major muscle (PMM) in patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis. Methods: A single-center, retrospective cross-sectional study of 160 patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis (DLS) and lumbar stenosis (LSS) who had lateral full-spine x-ray and lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging was conducted. PSM and PMM FIs were defined as the ratio of fat to its muscle cross-sectional area. The FIs were compared among patients with different pelvic tilt (PT) and pelvic incidence (PI), respectively. Results: The PSM FI correlated significantly with pelvic parameters in DLS patients, but not in LSS patients. The PSM FI in pelvic retroversion (PT > 25°) was 0.54 ± 0.13, which was significantly higher in DLS patients than in normal pelvis (0.41 ± 0.14) and pelvic anteversion (PT < 5°) (0.34 ± 0.12). The PSM FI of DLS patients with large PI ( > 60°) was 0.50 ± 0.13, which was higher than those with small ( < 45°) and normal PI (0.37 ± 0.11 and 0.36 ± 0.13). However, the PSM FI of LSS patients didn’t change significantly with PT or PI. Moreover, the PMM FI was about 0.10–0.15, which was significantly lower than the PSM FI, and changed with PT and PI in a similar way of PSM FI with much less in magnitude. Conclusion: FI of the PSMs increased with greater pelvic retroversion or larger pelvic incidence in DLS patients, but not in LSS patients.

        Effects of Source of Supplemental Zinc on Performance, Nutrient Digestibility and Plasma Mineral Profile in Cashmere Goats

        This experiment was designed to evaluate the effects of source of supplemental zinc (Zn) on performance, nutrient digestibility and plasma mineral profile in Cashmere goats during the cashmere fiber growing period. Twenty-seven Liao Ning Cashmere wether goats (9-10 month of age; initial BW = 19.31${\pm}$0.32 kg) were fed a basal diet (containing 22.3 mg Zn/kg DM) with no supplemental Zn (control) or 20 mg of supplemental Zn/kg of DM from Zn sulfate ($ZnSO_{4}$) or Zn methionine (ZnMet) for 60 days including a 10-day metabolism trial. Average daily gain (ADG) (p<0.05) and gain:feed (G/F) (p<0.05) were increased by Zn supplementation, but no differences were noted between Zn sources (p>0.05). The length and diameter of cashmere fiber did not differ among treatments (p>0.05). Zn supplementation had no influence on digestibility of DM, CP, EE and NDF (p>0.05). However, ADF digestibility in the group supplemented with ZnMet was significantly higher than in other treatments (p<0.05). Plasma Zn was increased (p<0.05) and Cu tended to be decreased (p = 0.057) by Zn supplementation, but no differences were found between Zn sources (p>0.05). Plasma alkaline phosphatase activity (AKP) was improved by Zn supplementation (p<0.05) and was higher in the $ZnSO_{4}$ than the ZnMet group (p<0.05). Zn retention was increased (p<0.05) and apparent absorption rate was decreased (p<0.05) by Zn supplementation. The results indicate that supplementation of 20 mg Zn/kg DM either as $ZnSO_{4}$ or ZnMet in the basal diet containing 22.3 mg Zn/kg DM can improve growth performance in Cashmere goats, and effectiveness of the two sources is similar on performance measurements.

        In Vitro Screening for Compounds Derived from Traditional Chinese Medicines with Antiviral Activities Against Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus

        Seventeen compounds derived from traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) were tested for their antiviral activity against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) in vitro. Visualization with the cytopathologic effect (CPE) assay and the 3-(4, 5-dimethyithiazol- 2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide test were used to determine the 50% cytotoxic concentration (CC50) and 50% effective concentration (EC50) in cultured Marc-145 cells. Among the tested compounds, chlorogenic acid and scutellarin showed potential anti-PRRSV activity. The EC50 values were 270.8 ± 14.6 μg/ml and 28.21 ± 26.0 μg/ml and the selectivity indexes were >5.54 and 35.5, respectively. The time-of-addition and virucidal assay indicated that the anti-PRRSV activity of the two compounds could be due to their inhibiting the early stage of virus replication and/or inactivating the virus directly. The inhibition of the virus attachment was not observed in the adsorption inhibition assay. The inhibition ratios of chlorogenic acid and scutellarin were, respectively, 90.8% and 61.1% at the maximum non-cytotoxic concentrations. The results have provided a basis for further exploration of their antiviral properties and mechanisms in vivo. We believe that the chlorogenic acid and scutellarin have a great potential to be developed as new anti-PRRSV drugs for clinical application.

        Processing, digestion property and structure characterization of slowly digestible gorgon nut starch

        Slowly digestible gorgon nut starch (GN-SDS) was prepared by heating–cooling treatment (HCT), meanwhile its morphological and structural features were characterized in detail by SEM, DSC, XRD and IR detection. The optimized parameters of GN-SDS processing were as following: starch milk (20%) was heated at 100 °C for 20 min, and then cooled under 4 °C for 24 h. Under the optimized parameters, the SDS content increased from 20.49 to 61.74%. GN-SDS showed typical SDS characteristics in in vivo digestion with a low postprandial blood glucose. SEM images suggested that GN-S particles changed from uniform regular polyhedron with smooth surface to irregular gravel-like particles with coarse surface and obvious layered structure inside after HCT. The results of SEM, DSC, XRD and IR determination indicated that HCT changed the granule morphology, interior structure, gelatinization temperature and crystal type (A to B-type) of GN-S, and therefore made it hard to be digested accordingly.

      • Research on the Readability of Internet Enterprise Logos

        With the development of the times, the speed and fun of message transfer through text are gradually surpassed by images under the demand for giving the priority to the speed and efficiency of message transfer in the field of design. Since internet enterprises are the source of internet services, the research on logo design is of great significance. Whether the meaning of the logo can be clearly understood by the viewer, which is the readability of the logo discussed in this study, is more and more emphasized. In this study, we had the logos with significant differences through the form of a questionnaire, analyzed the forms behind the logos, and found that consumers of news and information services, information fusion, instant messaging, audio and video, and We Media have a higher sense of readability to the logos after contacting with enterprises; the use of organic graphics in the form of expression is less readable; the use of two kinds of shaping elements is preferred. The above contents and results can provide a reference for the readability of logo design in the future.

        Study on the Influence of Chinese and American Monetary Policies on China’s Exchange Rate and Stock Market

        미국의 통화정책이 미치는 영향과 중국의 환율 및 주식 시장을 규제하면서 국내 경제 안정을 유지하고 금융 리스크를 완화하는 것은 중요한 실용적인 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 중국의 두 가지 유형의 통화정책 방안에 중점을 두고 있다. 수량 기반의 통화정책 방안과 가격 기반의 통화정책 방안이다. 수량 기반 방안의 경우, 대리 변수로는 통화 공급량 측정치 (M2)를 사용한다. 가격 기반 방안의 경우, 대리 변수로는 국가 7일간 은행 간 차입금리 (CHIBOR)를 사용한다. 마르코프 전환 베이지안 벡터 자율 회귀 모델(MSBVAR)을 구축함으로써 본 연구는 중국과 미국의 통화정책이 중국의 환율과 주가에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 연구 결과는 중국과 미국의 통화정책과 중국의 환율 및 주가 간에 마르코프 전환 과정이 있다는 것을 발견하였다. 연구 결과는 미국의 통화정책과 중국의 통화정책이 환율과 주가에 미치는 영향이 서로 다른 체계 시스템에서 다르다는 것을 나타낸다. 투자자들에게는 통화정책을 중요한 참고 정보로 활용함으로써 주가와 환율에 대한 합리적인 예측이 가능하다. How to address the impact of U.S. monetary policy and regulate China’s exchange rates and stock market while maintaining domestic economic stability and mitigating financial risks is of significant practical importance. This article focuses on two types of monetary policy tools in China: quantity-based monetary policy tools and price-based monetary policy tools. For quantity-based tools, the proxy variable used is the money supply measure (M2). For price-based tools, the proxy variable utilized is the national 7-day interbank borrowing rate (CHIBOR). By constructing a Markov-switching Bayesian vector autoregressive model (MSBVAR), this study investigated the impact of Chinese and American monetary policies on the exchange rate and stock prices in China. The research discovered that there is a Markov switching process in the relationship between Chinese and American monetary policies and the exchange rate as well as stock prices in China. The study’s findings indicate that the impact of US monetary policy and Chinese monetary policies on exchange rates and stock prices differs across different regime systems. For investors, utilizing monetary policy as critical reference information allows for reasonable anticipations regarding stock prices and exchange rate.

      • Dose-Dependent Associations between Wine Drinking and Breast Cancer Risk - Meta-Analysis Findings

        Purpose: To investigate any potential association between wine and breast cancer risk. Materials and Methods: We quantitatively assessed associations by conducting a meta-analysis based on evidence from observational studies. In May 2014, we performed electronic searches in PubMed, EmBase and the Cochrane Library to identify studies examining the effect of wine drinking on breast cancer incidence. The relative risk (RR) or odds ratio (OR) were used to measure any such association. Results: The analysis was further stratified by confounding factors that could influence the results. A total of twenty-six studies (eight case-control and eighteen cohort studies) involving 21,149 cases were included in our meta-analysis. Our study demonstrated that wine drinking was associated with breast cancer risk. A 36% increase in breast cancer risk was observed across overall studies based on the highest versus lowest model, with a combined RR of 1.0059 (95%CI 0.97-1.05) in dose-response analysis. However, 5 g/d ethanol from wine seemed to have protective value from our non-linear model. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that wine drinking is associated with breast cancer risk in a dose-dependent manner. High consumption of wine contributes to breast cancer risk with protection exerted by low doses. Further investigations are needed for clarification.

        개념사진의 기호학적 시각 은유를 통한 현대 이슈 탐구

        본 연구는 롤랑 바르트의 기호학 이론을 활용하여 개념사진 작품 속의 시각적 상징과 그 전달 방식을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 기반으로 개념사진에서 상징과 기호의 의미를 분석하고, 이러한 상징이 현대 사회의 중요한 이슈를 어떻게 반영하는지를 규명하는 데 있다. 이 연구는 개념사진의 역사적 발전, 핵심 인물 및 사건을 문헌 조사를 통해 조명하고, 바르트의 의미 작용, 스투디움, 푼크툼 등의 이론적 개념을 적용하여 관객의 반응과 해석 과정을 연구한다. 아르세니 네스코디모프, 스기모토 히로시, 청퀑치 등의 작가 작품 분석을 통해, 이들 작품이 시각적 기호를 통해 어떻게 사회적, 문화적 메시지를 전달하는지를 본 연구를 통해 확인한다. 이 과정을 통해 개념사진이 관객에게 어떻게 사회적 통찰력을 제공하는지를 명확히 한다. 개념사진 작품의 시각적 상징이 관객에게 감정적 반응과 인지적 과정을 일으키는지 살펴보며, 이를 통해 작가와 관객 사이의 소통과 상호작용에 대한 이해를 도모할 수 있다. 이 연구는 기호학 이론을 적용하여 개념사진 작품의 시각적 표현 방식을 더욱 깊이 이해할 수 있도록 하며, 이러한 접근은 사진 해석에 있어서 표면적인 의미를 넘어서 주관적이고 복합적인 표현의 해석을 가능하게 한다. The purpose of this study is to explore visual symbols and their delivery methods in conceptual photography works using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. Based on this, the purpose is to analyze the meaning of symbols and signs in conceptual photography and identify how these symbols reflect important issues in modern society. This study illuminates the historical development of conceptual photography, key figures and events through a literature review, and applies theoretical concepts such as Barthes' signification, studium, and punctum to study the audience's response and interpretation process. Through this, I analyze the works of artists such as Arseny Neskodimov, Sugimoto Hiroshi, and Tseng Kwong Chi, and interpret how these works convey social and cultural messages through visual symbols. And it clarifies how these works provide social insight to the audience. The visual symbols of conceptual photography work evoke certain emotional responses and cognitive processes in the audience, thereby promoting understanding of the communication and interaction between the artists and the audience. This study applies semiotic theory to provide a deeper understanding of the visual expression method of conceptual photography works, and this approach enables the interpretation of subjective and complex expressions beyond the surface meaning in photographic interpretation.

        Simplifi ed Calculation Methods for Static Behaviors of Triple-Tower Suspension Bridges and Parametric Study

        In this paper, simplifi ed formulas to determine the static behaviors of triple-tower suspension bridges were derived, including the formulas for the force of main cable, the defl ection of the stiff ening girder, the safety factor of anti-slipping on the saddle and the moment of the tower under the live load. Also, formulas were verifi ed by a fi nite element model for three triple-tower suspension bridges with main span of 1500, 2000 and 2500 m. In the end, a parametric study was performed to investigate the infl uence of sag to span ratio, ratio of side span to main span as well as the stiff ness of mid tower on the static performance using analytical method.
