        One of the rising problems in the field of water environmental is the eutrophic phenomenon which appears in the closed water basin. This study is for the removal by adsorption of orthophosphate which is indispensible nutritive element for eutro-phication. Magnesium oxide and magnesium oxide-activated carbom complex have been made and used as adsorbents. They have showed excellent adsorptivity for orthophosphate. The main purpose of this study is to obtain the optimum preparation comditions of adsorbents, the optimum operational conditions and basic data for the design of adsorption process for fixed bed adsorption in the case of adsrptive removal of orthophophate by the two adsorbents mentioned above.

      • 위절제술 후 Carboxy-Methylcellulose를 이용한 위장관 조영술

        The purpose of this study was to determine the usefluness of the UGI study with Carboxy-Methylcellulose (CMC) and 140% barium in the patient undergone gastrectomy We reviewed the UGI study with effervescent agent and barium and the UGI study with CMC and 140% barium of twenty one patients, undergone gastrectomy (Billroth-Ⅱ:12, Billroth-Ⅰ:4 total gastrectomy:5). The average interval between these studies was 19 months. The coating quality of the remnant stomach, anastomosis sit e, jejunum and proximal ileum in two studies were compared. The maximum luminal diameter of the same site and the maximum distance between a adjacent valvulae conniventes were measured for evaluating the distensibility of these studies. Compared with the coating quality of the remnant stomach, the UGI study with effervescent agent and barium was superior to the UGI study with C MC and barium in 68% (11/16) patients. The difference of coating quality between these studies was marginal in the anastomosis site and jejunum. The UGI study with CMC and barium provided a better coating quality in the proximal ileum of 95%(20/21). The maximum luminal diameter of the anastomosis site, jejunum and proximal ileum was respectively 2.75cm, 3.36cm, and 2.82cm inthe UGI study with effervescent agent and barium, 3.2cm 3.35cm, and 3.40cm in the UGI study with CMC and barium(p〈0.01). The maximum distance between a adjacent valvulae conniventes of the jejunum and proximal ileum was respectively 0.61cm and 0.51cm in the UGI study with effervesent agent and barium, 0.74cm and 0.72cm in the UBI study with CMC and barium (p〈0.05). Compared with the distensibility, the UGI study with CMC and barium was superior. The UGI study with CMC and barium in subjects, undergone gastectomy, showed the advantage the mucosa distal to anastomosis site except for the remnant stomach and must be supply the more information in finding lesion such as adhesion and peritoneal dissemination.

      • A Study on Characteristics of Wet Oxide Gate and Nitride Oxide Gate for fabrication of NMOSFET

        이 논문에서는 HP 4145 소자 테스터를 사용하여 핫 케리어 효과와 트래핑차지, SILC의 특성을 비교하기 위하여 질화 산화막 게이트와 습식게이트 산화막을 가지고 0.26㎛ NMOSFET를 테스트하고 생성시켰다. 그 결과로 습식게이트 산화막소자보다 질화 산화막 게이트의 특성이 더 좋다는 것을 알게 되었고 특히 핫 케리어 라이트 타임이 (질화 산화막 게이트 소자는 30년이나 습식 게이트 산화막은 10년) 길고 Vg의 변화 및 항복전압이나 트래핑의 충전 등이 좋음을 알 수 있었다. In this paper we fabricated and tested the 0.26㎛ NMOSFET with wet gate oxide and nitride oxide gate to compare that the characteristics of hot carrier effect, charge to breakdown, transistor Id_Vg curve, charge trapping, and SILC(Stress Induced Leakage Current) using the HP4145 device tester. As a result we find that the characteristics of nitride oxide gate device better than wet gate oxide device, especially hot carrier lifetime (nitride oxide gate device satisfied 30years, but the lifetime of wet gate oxide was only 0.1year), variation of Vg, charge to breakdown and charge trapping etc.

      • VLSI 구현을 위한 Motion Estimation 알고리즘의 비교 분석

        Motion estimation has been chosen for the major image compression standards such as CCITT, MPEG 1,2 and 4 because of the efficiency of temporal redundancy elimination even though it requires a great amount computations and hardware. Many motion estimation algorithms proposed so far have lots of trade off's among performances, VLSI implementation and computation amounts, which should be carefully considered to select the best algorithm for each application area. Therefore, this paper analyzes and compares motion estimation algorithms, which are full search block matching, hierarchical block matching using block subsample as well as pel subsample in a block and the subsample with a low pass filter. The performances such as mean square error, pick to pick signal to noise ratio and the computation amount are simulated using C-code and their results are described and compared. Finally, the reconstructed images based on the four motion estimation algorithms are shown for eye ball tests.

        박달나무의 반형매 가계간 Cd Phytoremediation과 축적 특성

        The main purpose of this study was to select a B. schmidtii population which has high cadmium tolerance and remediation and to determine the difference of cadmium uptake patterns among populations. One-year-old B. schmidtii seedlings were treated with 0, 0.4, 0.8mM CdSO₄ *3/8H₂O for two months. Cadmium concentrations in different positions of stem and cadmium concentrations and contents of leaves, stems and roots were analyzed. Also soil cadmium concentrations were analyzed. B. schmidtii was highest in root and lowest in shoot tip, showing a gradual decrease from root to shoot tip. The shoot to root Cd concentration ratios were over 1.26. It is concluded that B. schmidtii has good potential for phytoextraction as a shoot accumulator, which can be used for remediation of cadmium-contaminated areas. But tolerance differs between populations. Therefore B. schmidtii should be used as a means of phytoremediation after selection for Cd tolerance is performed.

      • 백서 적혈구에서 glutathione이 paraquat 독성에 미치는 영향

        The participation of superoxide in initiating tissue damage from administration of a xenobiotics is best illustrated by paraquat intoxication, in which it is known that one electron reduction of paraquat leads to the formation of radicals which react with molecular oxygen to give superoxide. In the present study, the effects of paraquat on the level of glutathione and activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase and glutathione stransferase were investigated in rat liver and erythrocytes. The contents of glutathione in liver and blood were sinificantly decreased by paraquat administration, but the activities of enzymes were unaltered. Incubation of the buffered aerobic mixture of erythrocyte in the presence of 5mM glucose, Paraquat and/or N-ethylmaleimide(NEM) resulted in the formation of lipid peroxide, the activities of various enzyme and the levels of glutathione were determined. The malondialdehyde(MDA) contents as a indicator of lipid peroxidation was decreased and the levels of total glutathione were not changed but the levels of oxidized glutathione(GSSG) were in creased in paraquat treated erythrocytes. The activites of ezyme were decreased in paraquat treated erythrocytes but in reduced glutathione(GSH) treated erythrocyte, the enzymes activities were less decreased by paraquat. These results suggest that paraquat toxicity was probably somewhat reduced by GSH, but paraquat-induced injury were not increased by GSH depletion in erythrocytes.

        Cd 處理에 對한 박달나무의 家系間 生理的 被害 및 抗酸化 反應 差異

        본 연구는 Cd 처리에 대한 박달나무 유묘의 가계 간 엽록소 함량과 효소홀성에 의한 피해 및 항산화 내성 반응의 특성을 구명하고자 실시하였다. Cd 처리는 3가계의 박달나무 1년생 묘목에 0, 04, 08mM CdSO₄·8/3H₂O 용액을 이용하여 3수준으로 2개월간 실시하였다. 박달나무의 가계간 및 처리 간 피해내성반응은 엽록소 함량과 MDA(malondialdehyde) 함량, 단백질 함량, SOD(supetoxide dismutase) 활성을 이용하여 결정하였다. Cd 처리는 박달나무의 잎 내 광색소의 함량비를 변화시켰으며, 생리적 피해 지표인 MDA 함량은 모든 가계의 Cd 처리구에서 대소구보다 높게 나타났다. 또한 모든 Cd 처리구의 단백질 함량은 대조구보다 높았으며, MDA 함량과 단백질 한량은 Cd 처리 농도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 한편 Cd 처리된 박달나무의 잎 내 SOD 활성은 대조구보다 증가하였으나, 0.8mM Cd 처리된 9번 가계 경우는 대조구보다 낮아졌다. 즉 박달나무는 Cd 처리에 의해 광색소 함량의 변화 및 MDA 함량 증가와 같은 생리적인 피해를 나타냄과 동시에 단백질 함량과 SOD 활성 증가를 통해 내성 반응을 나타냈다. 그러나 이리한 생리적인 피해 및 내성 반응은 가계 간에 뚜렷하게 달랐다. We investigated differences among half-sib families of Betula schmidtii seedlings in the effect of three Cd levels on physiological injury and antioxidative reaction. One-year-old seedlings of B. schmidtii were treated with 0, 0.4 and 0.8mM CCdSO₄·8/3H₂O for two months. Physiological injury and antioxidative reaction to three levels of Cd treatment determined with using photosynthetic pigments, MDA, protein contents, and SOD activity in the leaves of three half-sib families of B. schmidtii. The ratios of contents among photosynthetic pigments in the leaves of B. schmidtii were changed by Cd treatment. In additon, MDA content in the leaves of plants under Cd stress increased relative to control plants, and total protein content was also higher in the leaves of 0.4mM and 0.8mM Cd levels than control plants. The contents of MDA and total protein also increased with increasing the concentrations of Cd treatment. SOD activity in the leaves of three half-sib families increased by Cd treatment, but SOD activity of No. 9 family decreased relative to control plants at 0.8mM Cd level. In our trial, B. schmidtii treated with Cd represented physiological injuries such as the changes of photosynthetic pigments ratio and the increase of MDA content. At the same time, B. schmidtii showed tolerance responses against Cd toxicity through increasing the total protein content and SOD activity. But the physiological injury and tolerance responses were significantly different among three half-sib families exposed to 0.4mM and 0.8mM Cd.

      • 기니이픽 장관의 c-Kit 및 NK 1R 면역반응 세포구조에 대한 공초점 주사현미경적 연구

        Background and Objectives: Immunolabelling of interstitial Cajal(IC) cells in the intestinal wall has recently been developed by using a specific marker, the anti-c-Kit antibody. Substance-P is a well-known neurotransmitter in the gastro-intestinal tract. Since the gastro-intestinal wall structures have already been well documented in the guinea pig, immunohistochemistry was done for the c-Kit-positive IC network and substance-P receptor(NK1R) in an attempt to provide a morphological basis for the mechanism regulating gastro-intestinal movement. Materials and Methods: Cryosection and whole-mount preparations of guinea pig small intestine and colon were single and double immunolabelled using the anti-c-Kit and NK1R antibodies. Immunolabelled specimens were observed under a confocal laser scanning microscope. Results : According to a three dimensional reconstruction study, it was found that (1) the c-Kit-positive celluar networks were widely distributed in the intestinal wall, (2) c-Kit-positive celluar networks encircled the ganlion, with strands in reticular configurations, and (3) the c-Kit-positive cells showed colocalization with NK1R in circular muscle(CM), not myenteric plexus(MY). Conclusion: The charateristic profiles of IC containing c-Kit-positive celluar networks and the relationship between c-Kit-positive and NK1R-positive structures provide a morphological basis upon the mechanism regulating gastro-intestinal motility.

        Role of Carotid Artery Stenting in Prevention of Stroke for Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis: Bayesian Cross-Design and Network Meta-Analyses

        Background and Objectives: There is insufficient evidence regarding the optimal treatment for asymptomatic carotid stenosis. Methods: Bayesian cross-design and network meta-analyses were performed to compare the safety and efficacy among carotid artery stenting (CAS), carotid endarterectomy (CEA), and medical treatment (MT). We identified 18 studies (4 randomized controlled trials [RCTs] and 14 nonrandomized, comparative studies [NRCSs]) comparing CAS with CEA, and 4 RCTs comparing CEA with MT from MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases. Results: The risk for periprocedural stroke tended to increase in CAS, compared to CEA (odds ratio [OR], 1.86; 95% credible interval [CrI], 0.62–4.54). However, estimates for periprocedural myocardial infarction (MI) were quite heterogeneous in RCTs and NRCSs. Despite a trend of decreased risk with CAS in RCTs (OR, 0.70; 95% CrI, 0.27–1.24), the risk was similar in NRCSs (OR, 1.02; 95% CrI, 0.87–1.18). In indirect comparisons of MT and CAS, MT showed a tendency to have a higher risk for the composite of periprocedural death, stroke, MI, or nonperiprocedural ipsilateral stroke (OR, 1.30; 95% CrI, 0.74–2.73). Analyses of study characteristics showed that CEA-versus-MT studies took place about 10-year earlier than CEA-versus-CAS studies. Conclusions: A similar risk for periprocedural MI between CEA and CAS in NRCSs suggested that concerns about periprocedural MI accompanied by CEA might not matter in real-world practice when preoperative evaluation and management are working. Maybe the benefits of CAS over MT have been overestimated considering advances in medical therapy within10-year gap between CEA-versus-MT and CEA-versus-CAS studies.

      • Development and Validation of Novel Diagnostic Criteria for Intestinal Behçet's Disease in Korean Patients With Ileocolonic Ulcers

        <P>OBJECTIVES: It is difficult to diagnose intestinal Behçet's disease (BD) due to various extraintestinal manifestations emerging at different time points in the disease course and a lack of reliable diagnostic criteria. We conducted this study to develop and validate novel diagnostic criteria for intestinal BD. METHODS: Experts from three universities generated the preliminary diagnostic criteria for intestinal BD, and a consensus was reached using a modified Delphi method with 13 gastroenterologists participating. To validate the criteria, we recruited 12,850 consecutive patients who underwent colonoscopic examinations between January 2000 and December 2006 at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. RESULTS: The novel diagnostic criteria were developed on the basis of two aspects: colonoscopic findings and extraintestinal manifestations. Of the 12,850 patients, 280 with ileocolonic ulcers were enrolled for validation. At the time of initial colonoscopic examinations, patients were categorized for BD status into 4 groups: definite (84 patients), probable (67), suspected (15), and nondiagnostic (114). At the end of the follow-up period (mean, 50.9+/-25.7 months), intestinal BD was confirmed in 145 patients (51.8%)-84 (100%) from the definite group, 49 (73.1%) from the probable group, 10 (66.7%) from the suspected group, and 2 (1.8%) from the nondiagnostic group. The overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy of the diagnosis probability of these criteria were 98.6, 83.0, 86.1, 98.2, and 91.1%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: These newly proposed, simple criteria might be useful in diagnosing intestinal BD, especially in patients with ileocolonic ulcers who do not fully satisfy the diagnostic criteria of systemic BD.</P>
