부모의 양육태도와 청소년의 대인불안과의 관계에서 수치심 경향성의 매개효과 연구 = The Mediation Effects of Shame-proneness tendency on the Relationship between Parenting Attitude and Adolescent Social Anxiety

This study examined the mediating effects of shame-proneness tendency on the relationship between parenting attitudes and social anxiety among adolescents. The samples for this study were 502 students recruited from the high schools and middle schools in Metropolitan Seoul area. They were administered with the Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents, the Personal Feeling Questionnaire II, and the Parenting Behavior Inventory. The data was analyzed through multiple regression and simple regression analysis. Baron and Kenny's (1986) model was calculated to find out mediation effects of shame-proneness tendency of the adolescents. The results were as follows: First, Parental inconsistency, over-expectation and over-control, and negligence had a statistically significant influence on shame-proneness among the male students, while parental strict supervision and negligence had a statistically significant influence on the shame-proneness among the female students. Second, the adolescents' shame-proneness tendency has statistically significant impact on the adolescent social anxiety. Third, the inconsistent and negligent parenting showed statistically negative influence on the social anxiety among the male students. Among the female students, only Parent's strict supervision showed significant influence on social anxiety. Fourth, the mediation effect of parenting, and shame-proneness in relation to interpersonal relationship was different depending on the gender of the samples. For example, the shame-proneness showed partial mediation effect between parental inconsistency and adolescent's social anxiety, but complete mediation effect between parental negligence and adolescent social anxiety in case of male students, while the shame-proneness did not show the mediation effect between interpersonal anxiety and parental supervision among the female students. Lastly, the results showed mediation effects on the relationships between parenting attitudes, and interpersonal anxiety among the adolescents. The mediation effects were different depending on the gender of the adolescents. Based on the finding results, discussions and implication for further study were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부모의 양육태도가 남녀 청소년의 대인불안에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치심 경향성의 매개효과를 가정 하고 이를 검증해보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 중, 고등학생 502명으로 청소년용 대인불안 척도, 부모양육태도 척 도를 사용하여 설문을 실시하였다. 설문을 통해 얻은 자료를 중다회귀분석과 단순회귀분석을 사용하여 분석하 였다. 또한 부모의 양육태도가 청소년의 대인불안에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치심 경향성의 매개효과를 알아보기 위해 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 매개효과 검증 절차를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모의 양육태도가 수치심 경향성에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 남학생의 경우 비일관성, 과잉기대, 과잉간섭, 방임이 여학생의 경우 감독, 방임이 수치심 경향성에 영향을 주는 유의한 변인으로 나타났다. 둘째, 수치심 경 향성이 청소년의 대인불안에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 남학생, 여학생 모두 수치심 경향성이 대인불안에 유 의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 부모의 양육태도가 남녀 청소년의 대인불안에 미치는 영향을 분석 한 결과 남학생의 경우 부모의 비일관성과 방임, 여학생의 경우 부모의 감독만이 청소년의 대인불안을 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 부모의 양육태도가 대인불안에 영향을 주는 과정에서 수치심 경향 성의 매개효과가 있는지 살펴본 결과, 부모의 양육태도와 대인불안과의 관계에서 수치심 경향성의 매개효과가 청소년의 성별에 따라 상이하게 나타났다. 남학생의 경우 부모의 양육태도의 하위변인인 비일관성과 대인불안 간의 수치심 경향성의 매개효과는 부분적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났으며 부모의 방임과 대인불안과의 관계에서 수치심 경향성은 완전한 매개효과를 나타내었다. 반면 여학생의 경우, 부모의 감독이 여자 청소년의 대인불안에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치심 경향성의 매개효과는 검증되지 못하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 부모의 양육태도와 청 소년의 대인불안의 관계에서 수치심 경향성의 원인론적 기여도를 확인하였으며 이들 변수의 매개효과는 남녀 청소년 각각에서 차별적인 양상을 보인다는 점을 시사하였다. 끝으로 본 연구결과의 제한점 및 후속연구를 위 한 제언에 대해서 논의하였다.
