병리적 자기애의 선별 기준에 관한 연구: 병리적 자기애 질문지의 절단점 확인을 중심으로 = Screening Criteria of Pathological Narcissism: Identifying Cutoff Score of the Pathological Narcissism Inventory

The purpose of the current study was to examine the screening criteria of Pathological Narcissism by identifying the cutoff score of Pathological Narcissism Inventory(PNI). Four hundred college students were recruited to identify cutoff score of Pathological Narcissism. As a result, overall score of 2.73 was found to be the optimal cutoff score to distinguish narcissistic high group and law group in terms of sensitivity and specificity in ROC curves. Another 881 college students were sampled to cross-examine the plausibility of the cutoff score. Systematic differences between the narcissistic high and low groups were found in early maladaptive schema, defense style, depression, anxiety, and interpersonal relationships. Finally, the implications and limitations of the study are discussed and ideas on subsequent study are suggested.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 자기애의 웅대성 및 취약성 요소를 동시에 측정하도록 개발된 병리적 자기애 질문지(Pathological Narcissism Inventory: PNI)의 절단점(cutoff score)을 확인하여 병리적 자기애 선별에 관한 기준을 확립하는 것이 목적이다. 연구는 두 가지 절차를 통해 수행되었다. 먼저 400명의 대학생을 대상으로 자기애성 성격을 측정․분류하는 다른 측정도구들과 병리적 자기애 질문지를 함께 사용하여 병리적 자기애 질문지의 절단점을 확인하였다. PDQ-4+를 준거 도구로 선정하여 두 척도 간의 민감도(sensitivity)와 특이도(specificity)를 ROC 곡선에 의해 분석한 결과, 병리적 자기애 질문지 총점 2.73점이 최적의 절단점임이 확인되었다. 이 절단점의 타당성을 교차 검증하기 위하여 또 다른 대학생 집단 881명을 대상으로 조사한 결과, 절단점 2.73점을 기준으로 분류된 자기애 고 집단과 자기애 저 집단은 초기부적응 도식, 방어유형, 우울, 불안, 및 대인관계 특성 면에서 체계적인 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 추후 연구에 대한 제한점이 논의되었다.
