• Analysis on Clinical Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Patients with Locoregionally Advanced Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

        Zheng, Wei,Xu, Yuan-Ji,Qiu, Su-Fang,Zong, Jing-Feng,Huang, Ling-Ling,Huang, Chao-Bin,Lin, Shao-Jun,Pan, Jian-Ji Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.10

Background: To explore the independent prognostic factors for the recurrence/metastasis of patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC). Materials and Methods: A total of 604 patients initially diagnosed as LANPC by pathohistology in Fujian Provincial Cancer Hospital were selected to analyze the relationship between the clinical pathological patterns, therapeutic protocols and clinical stages with the recurrence/metastasis of LANPC. Results: The 1-, 3- and 5-year locoregionally recurrent rates of LANPC patients were 2.0%, 9.5% and 12.9% respectively, with average recurrent period being 78 months. Univariate analysis results indicated that clinical stages had certain influence on the recurrent period of LANPC patients. However, COX regression models showed that ages, genders and clinical stages were not the independent prognostic factors influencing the recurrence. The 1-, 3- and 5-year metastatic rates of LANPC patients were 6.6%, 17.5% and 18.8% respectively, with average metastatic period of 73 months. Univariate analysis results demonstrated that ages, N stages, clinical stages, locations of lymph node, retropharyngeal lymph node and extracapsular invasion of lymph node had certain influence on the metastatic period of LANPC patients. Additionally, further COX regression analysis results suggested that T stages, reduction protocols and extracapsular invasion of lymph node were the independent prognostic factors influencing the metastasis of patients with LANPC, in which T stages and extracapsular invasion of lymph node were the pestilent factors while reduction protocols the protective factor. Conclusions: Induction chemotherapy is beneficial to LANPC patients with initial treatment, and the metastatic rate decreases greatly after the application of reduction chemotherapy.

        Zhi-Chao Yuan,Zheng-Tao Zhang,Hu Su,Lei Zhang,Fei Shen,Feng Zhang 한국정밀공학회 2018 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.19 No.6

The emergency of surface defect would significantly influence the quality of MPCG (Mobile Phone Cover Glass). Therefore, efficient defect detection is highly required in the manufacturing process. Focusing on the problem, an automatic detection system is developed in this paper. The system adopts backlight imaging technology to improve the signal to noise ration and imaging effect. Then, a modified segmentation method is presented for defect extraction and measurement based on deep neural networks. In the method, a novel data generation process is provided, with which the drawback that huge amount of data is required for training deep structured networks can be overcome. Finally, experiments are well conducted to verify that satisfactory performance is achieved with the proposed method.

Thermal-fluid-structure coupling analysis for plate-type fuel assembly under irradiation. Part-I numerical methodology

        Li, Yuanming,Yuan, Pan,Ren, Quan-yao,Su, Guanghui,Yu, Hongxing,Wang, Haoyu,Zheng, Meiyin,Wu, Yingwei,Ding, Shurong Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.5

The plate-type fuel assembly adopted in nuclear research reactor suffers from complicated effect induced by non-uniform irradiation, which might affect its stress conditions, mechanical behavior and thermal-hydraulic performance. A reliable numerical method is of great importance to reveal the complex evolution of mechanical deformation, flow redistribution and temperature field for the plate-type fuel assembly under non-uniform irradiation. This paper is the first part of a two-part study developing the numerical methodology for the thermal-fluid-structure coupling behaviors of plate-type fuel assembly under irradiation. In this paper, the thermal-fluid-structure coupling methodology has been developed for plate-type fuel assembly under non-uniform irradiation condition by exchanging thermal-hydraulic and mechanical deformation parameters between Finite Element Model (FEM) software and Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software with Mesh-based parallel Code Coupling Interface (MpCCI), which has been validated with experimental results. Based on the established methodology, the effects of non-uniform irradiation and fluid were discussed, which demonstrated that the maximum mechanical deformation with irradiation was dozens of times larger than that without irradiation and the hydraulic load on fuel plates due to differential pressure played a dominant role in the mechanical deformation.

      • Epigallocatechin gallate suppresses lung cancer cell growth through Ras-GTPase-activating protein SH3 domain-binding protein 1.

        Shim, Jung-Hyun,Su, Zheng-Yuan,Chae, Jung-Il,Kim, Dong Joon,Zhu, Feng,Ma, Wei-Ya,Bode, Ann M,Yang, Chung S,Dong, Zigang American Association for Cancer Research, Inc 2010 Cancer prevention research Vol.3 No.5

Green tea is a highly popular beverage globally. Green tea contains a number of polyphenol compounds referred to as catechins, and (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is believed to be the major biologically active compound found in green tea. EGCG has been reported to suppress lung cancer, but the molecular mechanisms of the inhibitory effects of EGCG are not clear. We found that EGCG interacted with the Ras-GTPase-activating protein SH3 domain-binding protein 1 (G3BP1) with high binding affinity (K(d) = 0.4 micromol/L). We also showed that EGCG suppressed anchorage-independent growth of H1299 and CL13 lung cancer cells, which contain an abundance of the G3BP1 protein. EGCG was much less effective in suppressing anchorage-independent growth of H460 lung cancer cells, which express much lower levels of G3BP1. Knockdown shG3BP1-transfected H1299 cells exhibited substantially decreased proliferation and anchorage-independent growth. shG3BP1 H1299 cells were resistant to the inhibitory effects of EGCG on growth and colony formation compared with shMock-transfected H1299 cells. EGCG interfered with the interaction of G3BP1 and the Ras-GTPase-activating protein and further suppressed the activation of Ras. Additional results revealed that EGCG effectively attenuated G3BP1 downstream signaling, including extracellular signal-regulated kinase and mitogen-activated protein kinase/extracellular signal-regulated kinase kinase, in wild-type H1299 and shMock H1299 cells but had little effect on H460 or shG3BP1 H1299 cells. Overall, these results strongly indicate that EGCG suppresses lung tumorigenesis through its binding with G3BP1.

Mangiferin ameliorates placental oxidative stress and activates PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in mouse model of preeclampsia

        Jing Huang,Lili Zheng,Fang Wang,Yuan Su,Hongfang Kong,Hong Xin 대한약학회 2020 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.43 No.2

Preeclampsia is an inflammatory disease whichcan induce oxidative stress in placenta. Oxidative stressin preeclampsia is regulated by the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/Akt/mTOR) pathway. Mangiferin, an anti-oxidative molecule,is reported to ameliorate oxidative stress in the kidney andbrain through activating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway. Weaimed to investigate the effects of mangiferin in a mousemodel of preeclampsia, which was induced by phosphatidylserine/dioleoyl-phosphatidycholine (PS/PC) from day 5to 17 of pregnancy. The female pregnant mice were dividedinto five groups according to drug treatment. Animalsreceived mangiferin orally at doses of 10, 20, 40 mg/kg/dayfrom day 0.5 to 17. In preeclampsia mouse model, elevatedsystolic blood pressure and proteinuria were ameliorated bymangiferin treatment. Mangiferin attenuated fms-like tyrosinekinase-1 and placental growth factor expression andoxidative stress in both blood and placenta of preeclampsiamice. The suppressed PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in placentawas activated by mangiferin treatment. This study demonstratesthat mangiferin ameliorates placental oxidative stressand activates PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in a mouse modelof preeclampsia.

Thermal-fluid-structure coupling analysis on plate-type fuel assembly under irradiation. Part-II Mechanical deformation and thermal-hydraulic characteristics

        Li, Yuanming,Ren, Quan-yao,Yuan, Pan,Su, Guanghui,Yu, Hongxing,Zheng, Meiyin,Wang, Haoyu,Wu, Yingwei,Ding, Shurong Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.5

The plate-type fuel assembly adopted in nuclear research reactor suffers from complicated effect induced by non-uniform irradiation, which might affect stress conditions, mechanical behaviors and thermal-hydraulic performance of the fuel assembly. This paper is the Part II work of a two-part study devoted to analyzing the complex unique mechanical deformation and thermal-hydraulic characteristics for the typical plate-type fuel assembly under irradiation effect, which is on the basis of developed and verified numerical thermal-fluid-structure coupling methodology under irradiation in Part I of this work. The mechanical deformation, thermal-hydraulic performance and Mises stress have been analyzed for the typical plate-type fuel assembly consisting of support plates under non-uniform irradiation. It was interesting to observe that: the plate-type fuel assembly including the fuel plates and support plates tended to bend towards the location with maximum fission rate; the hot spots in the fuel foil appeared at the location with maximum thickness increment; the maximum Mises stress of fuel foil was located at the adjacent location with the maximum plate thickness increment et al.

Reformability evaluation of blasting-enhanced permeability in in situ leaching mining of low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposits

        Wang Wei,Liang Xuanyu,Niu Qinghe,Wang Qizhi,Zhuo Jinyi,Su Xuebin,Zhou Genmao,Zhao Lixin,Yuan Wei,Chang Jiangfang,Zheng Yongxiang,Pan Jienan,Wang Zhenzhi,Ji Zhongmin 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.8

It is essential to evaluate the blasting-enhanced permeability (BEP) feasibility of a low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit. In this work, the mineral composition, reservoir physical properties and rock mechanical properties of samples from sandstone-type uranium deposits were first measured. Then, the reformability evaluation method was established by the analytic hierarchy process-entropy weight method (AHP-EWM) and the fuzzy mathematics method. Finally, evaluation results were verified by the split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) experiment and permeability test. Results show that medium sandstone, argillaceous sandstone and siltstone exhibit excellent reformability, followed by coarse sandstone and fine sandstone, while the reformability of sandy mudstone is poor and is not able to accept BEP reservoir stimulation. The permeability improvement and the distribution of damage fractures before and after the SHPB experiment confirm the correctness of evaluation results. This research provides a reformability evaluation method for the BEP of the low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit, which contributes to the selection of the appropriate regional and stratigraphic horizon of the BEP and the enhanced ISL of the low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit.
