        A wavelength-tunable and facilely functionable D-A type naphthalene core skeleton: Synthesis, photophysical property, and bio-imaging applications for cells and tissues

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A new wavelength-tunable and facilely functionable electron donor (D)-acceptor (A) type fluorescent naphthalene core skeleton and its application for cell membrane imaging are reported. The core skeleton shows bright green fluorescence with aldehyde(CHO) moiety at the electron acceptor site, and its emission wavelength is tuned to blue and red by introducing the moiety of nitrile (CN) and dicyanovinyl (CH(CN)<SUB>2</SUB>), respectively, at the acceptor site. In addition, the core skeleton can be readily functionable by introducing a targeting moiety at the extra hydroxyl group. For the first demonstration as a fluorescent probe, a long-chain carbon is introduced and evaluated its bio-imaging ability for the cellular membranes on cells and tissues by using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) and two-photon microscopy (TPM).         Comparisons of Recombinant Protein Expression in Diverse Natural Isolates of Escherichia coli

        We assessed heterologous protein expression in 64 strains obtained from the Escherichia coli Reference (ECOR) collection, a collection representing diverse natural E. coli populations. A plasmid generating a glutathione S-transferase and plant carbonic anhydrase fusion protein (GST-CA) under the control of the tac promoter was introduced into the ECOR strains, and the quantity of the fusion protein was determined by SDS-PAGE. The foreign protein was generated at various levels, from very high (40 strains, high producers) to very low (six strains, low producers). Immunoblotting showed that the high producers expressed approximately 250 - 500 times more GST-CA protein than the low producers. The results of semi-quantitative RT-PCR showed that the low producers generated mRNA levels comparable to those of the high producers, thereby suggesting that, at least in this case, inefficient translation is a major cause of the low production. We introduced a different plasmid, which expressed a maltose binding protein and plant guanylate kinase fusion protein (MBP-GK) into the six low producers. Interestingly, five of these expressed MBP-GK at very high levels. Thus, we conclude that the production of a particular protein from an expression vector can vary considerably, depending on the host strain. Strains in the ECOR collection could function as useful alternative hosts when a desired level of protein expression is not obtained from commonly used strains, such as E. coli K12 or B derivatives.

        Recent advances in hybrid system of porous silicon nanoparticles and biocompatible polymers for biomedical applications

        Hybrid systems of nanoparticles and polymers have emerged as a new material in the biomedical fi eld. To date, various kindsof hybrid systems have been introduced and applied to drug delivery, regenerative medicine, therapeutics, disease diagnosis,and medical implantation. Among them, the hybridization of nanostructured porous silicon nanoparticles (pSiNPs) and biocompatiblepolymers has been highlighted due to its unique biological and physicochemical properties. This review focuseson the recent advances in the hybrid systems of pSiNPs and biocompatible polymers from an engineering aspect and itsbiomedical applications. Representative hybrid formulations, (i) Polymer-coated pSiNPs, (ii) pSiNPs-embedded polymericnanofi bers, are outlined along with their preparation methods, biomedical applications, and future perspectives. We believethis review provides insight into a new hybrid system of pSiNPs and biocompatible polymers as a promising nano-platformfor further biomedical applications. Recently developed and representative hybrid systems of porous silicon nanoparticles and biocompatible polymers and theirbiomedical applications are introduced.

        The Suppressive Effect of Pueraria lobata Root Extract and Its Biotransformed Preparation against Skin Wrinkle Formation

        EP was obtained through 20% ethanol extraction of Pueraria lobata root, and the fermented form of EP, FEP, was prepared from the EP after incubating with Lactobacillus rhamnosus vitaP1. There was no significant toxicity by EP and FEP up to 1000 ㎍/㎖ in NIH-3T3, HaCaT, and B16F10 cells. In addition to antioxidant potentials of EP and FEP determined by DPPH and ABST assays, we confirmed increase of procollagen type I and elastin synthesis by supplementation of the EP and FEP at the concentration of 50 ㎍/㎖ using ELISA kits. The protein expression levels of matrix metalloprotease (MMP)-1, -3, and -9, those are involved in the degradation of collagen or other skin matrix proteins, were remarkably suppressed while their inhibitory protein metallopeptidase inhibitor 1 (TIMP-1) was greatly up-regulated by supplementation of the EP and FEP at a concentration of 50 ㎍/㎖. Taken together, both EP and FEP supplementation could be involved in the suppression of the skin wrinkle formation through inhibiting degradation of collagen and stimulating the synthesis of collagen and elastin. The results showed that the anti-wrinkle potential of the EP and FEP will be a promising candidate for developing cosmeceutical compounds or products.

        최근 XML이 인터넷을 기반으로 하는 문서의 표준으로 급속히 확산됨에 따라, 기존 관계형 데이터베이스에 저장되어 있는 데이터와 XML과의 상호 호환문제가 급격이 부상되었다. 문제 해결을 위해서 다각적인 연구가 진행되고 여러 방법론이 제시되었으나, 이제까지의 방법들은 특정 경우에는 제대로 처리하지 못 하거나, 많은 부분을 사용자가 직접 생각하여 작성하게 하는등의 불편을 안고 있었다. 이러한 한계점을 개선하기 위해서, 본 논문에서는 사용자의 부담을 최소화하는 동시에, 정보의 손실없이 자동적으로 XML 문서작성이 이루어질 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다.

      • 효율적인 XML 검색을 위한 재질의 시스템 설계

        XML이 확산되면서 이를 저장하고 검색하는 XML DB와 검색 엔진들이 만들어졌다. 그러나, 이들 대부분의 시스템에서 초기 질의만으로 문서를 검색하고, 그 대상도 질의 조건에 완전히 정합되는 문서로만 제한하고 있다. 그러나, 사용자가 데이터에 대한 정확한 정보가 없는 경우에는 자신의 요구를 제대로 표현하기가 힘들고 또, 한번의 질의로 사용자 요구에 정확하게 부합되는 문서를 검색하기도 매우 어렵다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 질의 조건에 부분적으로 정합되는 문서도 검색하고, 사용자 피드백을 받아서 초기 질의를 사용자 요구에 좀 더 근접한 문서들을 검색할 수 있도록 수정하여 재질의를 하는 시스템을 설계하였다.

        임상경력에 따른 음악치료사 발달수준과 소진 및 적응유연성의 관계*

        이 연구는 임상 경력이 음악치료사가 지각하는 발달수준과 소진 및 적응유연성에 미치는 영향 을 고찰하고, 더 나아가 발달수준과 소진의 관계에서 적응유연성의 조절효과를 음악치료사의 경 력 수준에 따라 분석하는데 초점을 맞추었다. 이를 위하여 (사)한국음악치료학회에 등록된 음악 치료사 151명을 대상으로 예술치료사 발달수준척도, 소진척도, 적응유연성 척도를 사용하여 변 인을 측정하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경력 수준별 음악치료사의 발달수준과 소진, 적응 유연성을 살펴본 결과, 경력 1-3년 미만 집단이 소진을 가장 높게 지각하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 음악치료사의 경력이 높은 집단일수록 적응유연성이 높은 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 대인관 계효율성, 낙관적 태도, 분노조절의 하위변인 분석에서 5년 이상의 경력 집단의 적응유연성 점 수가 타 집단에 비해 통계적으로 가장 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 음악치료사가 지각하는 발달수준이 음악치료사의 소진 경험에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 경력 수준을 고려하지 않은 음악치료사 전체집단에서는 발달수준이 높을수록 소진을 덜 경험하며, 특히 치료관계가 잘 형성될수록 소진 이 완화되는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 음악치료사가 지각하는 발달수준이 소진에 미치는 영향에 대한 적응유연성의 조절효과를 분석한 결과, 음악치료사 전체집단에서 음악치료사가 지각하는 발달수준이 소진에 미치는 영향을 적응유연성이 조절하는 것으로 나타났다 The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of music therapists’ perceived professional development level and resilience on burnout according to their level of work experiences. Furthermore, this study aimed to determine the moderating effects of resilience in this relationship. 151 music therapists who registered in the Korean Music Therapy Association participated in this study and completed measures of Maslach’s Burnout Inventory, Professional Development Scales for Creative Arts Therapists, and Resilience Scales. As a result, first, music therapists of 1 〈 3 years of work experiences scored statistically highest for burnout. Secondly, results showed that the level of work experiences significantly influenced music therapists’ perceived resilience. Also, music therapists having more than 5 years of work experiences showed the highest scores in interpersonal insight and warmth, confident optimism, and skilled expressiveness compared to other groups. Thirdly, the level of music therapists’ development level significantly influenced burnout and therapeutic relationship was shown to be a significant factor to reduce their level of burnout. Finally, resilience moderated the effects of music therapists’ development level on burnout
