Evaluation of Regional Climate Simulations over the CORDEX-EA-II Domain Using the COSMO-CLM Model

        Weidan Zhou,Jianping Tang,Xueyuan Wang,Shuyu Wang,Xiaorui Niu,Yuan Wang 한국기상학회 2016 Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Vol.52 No.2

The COSMO-CLM (CCLM) model is applied to perform regional climate simulation over the second phase of CORDEX-East Asia (CORDEX-EA-II) domain in this study. Driven by the ERAInterim reanalysis data, the model was integrated from 1988 to 2010 with a high resolution of 0.22o. The model’s ability to reproduce mean climatology and climatic extremes is evaluated based on various aspects. The CCLM model is capable of capturing the basic features of the East Asia climate, including the seasonal mean patterns, interannual variations, annual cycles and climate extreme indices for both surface air temperature and precipitation. Some biases are evident in certain areas and seasons. Warm and wet biases appear in the arid and semi-arid areas over the northwestern and northern parts of the domain. The simulated climate over the Tibetan Plateau is colder and wetter than the observations, while South China, East China, and India are drier. The model biases may be caused by the simulated anticyclonic and cyclonic biases in low-level circulations, the simulated water vapor content biases, and the inadequate physical parameterizations in the CCLM model. A parallel 0.44o simulation is conducted and the comparison results show some added value introduced by the higher resolution 0.22o simulation. As a result, the CCLM model could be an adequate member for the next stage of the CORDEX-EA project, while further studies should be encouraged.

Design of Projection Optical System for Target Imaging Simulator with Long Exit Pupil Distance

        Xueyuan Cao,Lingyun Wang,Guangxi Li,Ru Zheng 한국광학회 2023 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.7 No.6

In order to test the recognition ability and accuracy of a target imaging simulator under the irradiation of solar stray light in a laboratory environment, it needs to be fixed on a five-axis turntable during a hardware-in-the-loop simulation test, so the optical system of the simulator should have a long exit pupil distance. This article adopts a secondary imaging method to design a projection optical system suitable for thin-film-transistor liquid crystal displays. The exit pupil distance of the entire optical system is 1,000 mm, and the final optimization results in the 400 nm–850 nm band show that the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the optical system is greater than 0.8 at the cutoff frequency of 72 lp/mm, and the distortion of each field of view of the system is less than 0.04%. Combined with the design results of the optical system, TracePro software was used to model the optical system, and the simulation of the target imaging simulator at the magnitude of −1 to +6 Mv was analyzed and verified. The magnitude er-ror is less than 0.2 Mv, and the irradiance uniformity of the exit pupil surface is greater than 90%, which meets the requirements of the target imaging simulator.

Incorporating BIM in the Final Semester Undergraduate Project of Construction Management - A Case Study in Fuzhou University

        Liyuan Wang,Xueyuan Yan,Binghui Fan,Ruoyu Jin,Tong Yang,Georgios Kapogiannis 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.24 No.8

This pedagogical study presents building information modeling (BIM) education in the final semester construction management (CM) program. The case study conducted in Fuzhou University extends BIM education from a single BIM course in earlier undergraduate years to the senior year’s final semester project, which was designed to enable BIM utilization in multiple construction tasks (e.g., 3D site planning). This study consists of two major parts. The first part starts with the newly designed course of the final semester project of CM students. Students’ final semester project work is demonstrated depending on their selected deliverable type, which includes full BIM application group work, two partial BIM application types (i.e., construction planning/scheduling, and take-off estimate), and a research dissertation. The second part starts from the research hypothesis of whether the different deliverable type selected by students would affect their perceptions towards the final project and their professional career. Based on a follow-up questionnaire survey to the whole CM student sample aiming to test the hypotheses with statistical analyses (e.g., analysis of variance and the post-hoc analysis), it was indicated that all the four different deliverable types (i.e., subgroups) could lead to consistent perceptions of the final semester project towards their career development. However, subgroup differences were found. For example, students from the subgroup of full BIM application perceived that they had the highest level of hands-on skill enhancement throughout the project, possibly due to the fact that they linked BIM software tools to virtual reality (VR) hardware. Suggestions were provided to update the future BIM pedagogy in the final semester project, such as proper guide of CM students to opt their project deliverable type depending on their career interests, motivations in BIM utilization, and skill development needs. This current study provides insights in BIM education in terms that: 1) BIM education could be enhanced from a single course level to the senior year project in the CM program level; 2) different options offered in the final stage project within the CM curriculum might affect students’ perceptions towards BIM or their career development; and 3) the experience learned from this case study could be shared in the global community of construction education to update the curriculum incorporating information and communication technologies (e.g., BIM and VR). Future educational work in BIM could continue adopting existing educational theories (e.g., Bloom’s Taxonomy) by addressing the various levels of student learning, and viewing BIM in the bigger picture of digital construction.

Endogenous hormone levels and activities of IAA-modifying enzymes during adventitious rooting of tree peony cuttings and grafted scions

        Xinya Meng,Zheng Wang,Song Lin He,Liyun Shi,Yinglong Song,Xueyuan Lou,Dan He 한국원예학회 2019 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.60 No.2

During rooting of both cuttings and grafted scions of tree peony ( Paeonia suff ruticosa Andr.) cultivar ‘Fengdanbai’, the anatomicalstructure, the contents of endogenous hormones (indole acetic acid, IAA; zeatin, ZT; gibberellin, GA 3 ; and abscisicacid, ABA), and the activities of IAA oxidase (IAAO), peroxidase (POD), and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) were observed. Theresults showed that the rooting processes in cuttings and grafted scions were similar, but that the critical period of rootingin cuttings was earlier than in grafts (cuttings: 18–20 days; scions: 38–40 days). IAA content showed a direct correlationwith rooting, with the peak value appearing as the adventitious roots were breaking through the epidermis in both cuttingsand grafts (cuttings: 20 days; scions: 38 days). ZT and GA 3 promoted adventitious rooting, and ABA inhibited it. The peakvalues of the IAA:ABA and IAA:ZT ratios appeared at the same time as the IAA peak (cuttings: 20 days; scions: 38 days),which indicated that these values were closely related to the occurrence of adventitious roots. Changes in the activitiesof IAAO, POD, and PPO, which modify IAA levels, indicated that there were no direct relationships between these threeenzymes and adventitious root formation in cuttings or grafts. These results provide a basis for further study of adventitiousroot formation in the ornamental tree peony.

LED-Supplied Red and Blue Light Alters the Growth, Antioxidant Status, and Photochemical Potential of in Vitro-Grown Gerbera jamesonii Plantlets

        Xinya Meng,Zheng Wang,Song Lin He,Liyun Shi,Yinglong Song,Xueyuan Lou,Dan He 한국원예학회 2019 원예과학기술지 Vol.37 No.4

Light is one of the most important environmental factors influencing plant growth and development. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are are a promising alternative to conventional light sources for planttissue cultures. Combined red (R) and blue (B) LEDs are suitable for the production of many plantspecies. However, few studies have examined the effects of different R:B ratios on Gerberajamesonii under controlled conditions. G. jamesonii plantlets were grown in controlled conditionsunder different ratios of discreet and blue light wavelengths provided by programmable LEDs. Theeffects of the different LED treatments on various morphological indices, photosynthetic parameters, soluble sugar and protein contents, and antioxidant enzyme activities were analyzed. Growth undermonochromatic red light resulted in the tallest plantlets and longest stomata, and most promotedsoluble content and intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci). Growth under monochromatic blue lightpromoted the highest levels of soluble protein, chlorophyll a (chlorophyll a (Chl a), and chlorophyllb (chlorophyll b (Chl b). An R:B ratio of 6:4 was the ideal LED treatment for enhancing leaf length, root length, and peroxidase activity. Growth under R:B = 7:3 promoted the number of leaves, leafwidth, number of roots, superoxide dismutase, and catalase activities, chlorophyll synthesis, and theaccumulation of Chl a and Chl b and led to the highest fluorescence parameters. With the exceptionof three physiological indicators, other indicators growth under R:B = 7:3 were better than underother tested ratios, implying that R:B = 7:3 represents the ideal LED treatment for improving G. jamesonii growth and photosynthetic activities under controlled conditions.

Three birds with one stone: Nitrilotriacetic acid interface anchoring helps prepare efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

        Chen Ting,Liu Pengfei,Liu Tianxiao,Li Xueyuan,Wang Huihui,He Tingwei,Liu Zhiyong 한국물리학회 2024 Current Applied Physics Vol.58 No.-

Electron transport layer (ETL) plays an important role in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this paper, a stable and cheap metal chelating agent, subnitrotriacetic acid (NTA), was used to modify SnO2 ETL in two ways:1) By incorporating NTA into SnO2 colloidal dispersion, the oxygen vacancy causing charge recombination was greatly reduced, and the recombination of psc was reduced by reducing the introduction of surface Ovs, 2) Spin-coating NTA at the SnO2/perovskite interface not only manages a large number of oxygen vacancies generated by high-temperature annealing, but also interacts with the unpaired Pb2+ in the perovskite absorption layer by interface modification of the C=O bond in NTA, passivates the surface of the perovskite layer, inhibits ion migration, stabilize the perovskite structure, and avoid its collapse, while significantly reducing the defect state density. By inhibiting the shallow interface trap and reducing the non-radiative recombination, efficient and stable perovskite solar cells were prepared. Under the condition of relative humidity greater than 40 % (RH), the efficiency of perovskite solar cells prepared by interface-anchored NTA was increased to 22.6 %, and the stability was significantly enhanced.
