Effects of Dimethyl-sulfoxide on Sperm Cryopreservation of Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus)

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of three different concentrations (6%, 8% and 10% final volume) of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) on cryopreserved sperm of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus). Grass carp sperm was suspended in Kurokura extender #2 and equilibrated at $4^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. French straws (0.25 ml) of sperm were frozen from $4^{\circ}C\;to\;-4^{\circ}C$ at a rate of $4^{\circ}C\;min^{-1}$ and then ken $-4^{\circ}C\;to\;-80^{\circ}C$ at a rate of $11^{\circ}C\;min^{-1}$. The straws were kept at $-80^{\circ}C$ for 10 min and finally stored in liquid nitrogen $(-196^{\circ}C)$. The cryopreserved sperm was thawed in a water bath at $40^{\circ}C$ for 30 sec and fertilization, hatching rate and larval malformation were compared with fresh sperm (control). The fertilization rate of post-thawed sperm was comparable (from 88.21% to 94.30%) to that of fresh sperm. However, hatching rate of all frozen sperm were significantly lower (P<0.05) than that of control. Additionally, the larval abnormality rate of frozen sperm was significantly higher than that of fresh sperm. The results indicate that DMSO could affect the quality of cryopreserved sperm of grass carp, and a freezing program and a proper extender composition should be further studied.

<P>Poly{2,6-bis(3-dodecylthiophen-2-yl) benzo[1,2-b;4,5-b′]dithiophene} (PTBT) was synthesized, via oxidative polymerization by oxidative agent (FeCl<SUB>3</SUB>). The mole ratio of FeCl<SUB>3</SUB> and monomer (3.5:1), and keeping low temperature during the dropping of diluted catalyst were very important for the polymerization without crosslinking. The PTBT was confirmed by <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR, FTIR spectra, and elemental analysis. The PTBT has very good solubility in organic solvents such as chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, etc, and good thermal stability with T<SUB>g</SUB> of 164 °C. The PTBT shows UV-optical absorption at 406 nm and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy at 504 nm in a film. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy of the polymer is −5.71 eV by measuring cyclic voltammetry (CV). On the performance of self-correction based modified min-sum decoding algorithms for LDPC codes

In this paper, we analyzed the performance of modified min-sum algorithms (MSA) for the decoding of low-density parity check codes. We focused on two self-correction based min-sum algorithms which erase variable node messages considered unreliable messages during decoding iterations. By comparing the error performances, it is confirmed that the self-correction based decoding algorithms have improved error performances compared with MSA and modified MSA.

본 논문은 빠른 페이딩 채널을 위해 설계된 양극성 스펙트럼 기반의 부호 설계 시 성능을 기전 설계 방법의 복호 성능과 분석한다. 실험 결과 양극성 스펙트럼(polar spectrum) 기반의 극 부호 설계 방법은 기존 극 부호 설계 방법보다 우수한 성능을 달성한다. 그러나 순환 중복 검사 부호와 연접할 경우 기존 설계 방법보다 저하된 성능을 가짐에 따라, 빠른 페이딩 채널에서 연접 부호를 고려한 최적 부호설계가 필요함을 확인하였다.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of phytase in diets containing cottonseed and soybean meal (CS) on growth performance, feed utilization and digestibility of protein and phosphorus in juvenile olive flounder (initial body weight 2.5 g), Paralichthys olivaceus. Four experimental diets replacing 0%, 30%, 30% and 40% fish meal protein with CS in equal proportion were formulated to be isonitrogenous and isocaloric (designated as CS0, CS30, CS30+P, CS40+P, respectively). Phytase of 1,000 FTU/kg was supplemented in diets CS30+P and CS40+P. Three groups of fish (25 fish per group) were fed one of the experimental diets for 10 weeks. No significant differences were observed in growth performance of fish groups except for the CS40+P diet. Apparent digestibility coefficients of protein and phosphorus in fish fed phytase-containing diets were significantly higher than those of fish fed the CS0 diet. Serum cholesterol was significantly reduced in fish fed the CS-containing diets. Antioxidant activities in the diets and liver of fish were significantly increased with the increment of dietary CS. Gossypol was only detected and found in liver of the fish fed the CS-containing diets. The findings suggest that supplementation of microbial phytase could improve the apparent digestibility of protein and phosphorus in juvenile olive flounder fed the CS-containing diets.
Synthesis and characterization of diphenylaminodiphenyl stryl based alternating copolymers

<P>Diphenylaminobiphenylated stryl based alternating copolymers with phenyl or fluorene, which were expected to have a terphenylene vinylene backbone containing an (N,N-diphenylamino)biphenyl pendant and a phenyl/fluorene/phenylene vinylene backbone containing an (N,N-diphenylamino)biphenyl pendant, were synthesized by a Suzuki coupling reaction. The obtained copolymers were confirmed with various types of spectroscopy. The alternating copolymers showed good hole-injection properties because of their low oxidation potential and good solubility and high thermal stability with a high glass-transition temperature. The alternating copolymers showed blue emissions because of the adjusted conjugation lengths; the maximum wavelength was 460 nm for poly{4,4′-biphenylene-α-[4″-(N,N′-diphenylamino)diphenyl]vinylene-alt-5-(2′-ethylhexyloxy)-2-methoxybenzene} and 487 nm for poly{4,4′-biphenylene-α-[4″-(N,N′-diphenylamino)diphenyl] vinylene-alt-9,9-dihexylfluorene}.
