Abstract

Moth eye-like patterned poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) films selectively containing titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles in the microdome were fabricated using polystyrene honeycomb patterned porous film as a template in which TiO2 nanoparticles are pore-filled. The template was prepared by in situ pore filling of TiO2 nanoparticles by the modified breath figure method, wherein the hydrolysis of titanium butoxide was performed in the condensed water droplets as microreactors. The moth eye-like patterned PVA film selectively containing TiO2 nanoparticles in the microdome was transparent almost similar to the pristine PVA flat film. However, the film showed a reversible photochromism that changes to blue color by UV illumination and recovered by visible light. The obtained films may have potential applications in anti-reflective surfaces, photo-catalytic surfaces, opto-electronics, and photo-catalytic devices.

Highlights

First report on moth eye patterned films containing TiO2 particles in microdomes.

PVA were employed for the fabrication of moth eye patterned (MEP) films.

MEP films were fabricated using honeycomb patterned porous films as templates.

PVA/TiO2 MEP films are transparent similar to PVA films and also show photochromism.

These films can have great potential applications in opto-electronics.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Abstract

Poly (ε-caprolactone) honeycomb patterned porous films were selectively functionalized on the bottom surface with polypyrrole/silver (PPy/Ag) composite via in situ interfacial polymerization on a reactive substrate during the breath figure procedure. For the interfacial in situ polymerization, poly (ε-caprolactone) solution including pyrrole was cast on a reactive ice substrate. The reactive ice substrate contains aqueous methanesulfonic acid and silver nitrate as an oxidizing agent for the pyrrole monomer. FT-IR, EDX, UV-Visible, conductivity, and wetting measurements support the formation of PPy/Ag on the bottom surface of the films. Pore size, conductivity, and wettability increased with increased concentration of pyrrole. Films with different functionalization on either surfaces can be applied in various advanced applications such as flexible electrodes, tissue engineering, etc.

Highlights

Bottom functionalized patterned films were fabricated using reactive substrate.

Breath figure process was performed on top surface.

Interfacial polymerization was performed on bottom surface.

Color, composition, wetting, conductivity are different on top and bottom surfaces.

Films might have a great promising potential in advanced applications.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the linkages among cross-channel integration capability (CCI), showrooming, webrooming, and customer value of retail enterprises. From the literature review, this research proposes the research model on the direct impact of showrooming and webrooming on customer value as well as the indirect impact of cross-channel integration capability on customer value which is mediated by both showrooming and webrooming of retail enterprises. Research design, data, and methodology: By conducting a survey of 304 consumers in the five biggest retailers in Hanoi-Vietnam from mid-September 2021 to the end of November 2021, the PLS-SEM was used to test the hypotheses. Results: The research results reveal the favorable impact of (CCI) on improving showrooming and webrooming, and the important role of developing both showrooming and webrooming in bringing more value to the customer of retail enterprises. The findings also express that showrooming and webrooming acts mediating role in the favorable relationship between (CCI) and customer value of retailers. Conclusions: This research clarifies the positive impact of (CCI), showrooming, and webrooming on customer value. In addition, this study suggests practical implications for retail managers to provide more value for customers by enhancing (CCI) and developing both showrooming and webrooming.

This study aimed to explore the factors affecting the foreign direct investment (FDI) intentions of investors into Quang Ninh province, located in the north-eastern of Viet Nam. Researchers used two main methods, namely, Exploratory Factors Analysis (EFA) and the Structural Equation Model (SEM) based on partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS SEM) to explore and measure the impact of factors affecting the investors’ FDI intentions into Quang Ninh province. The empirical analysis used data from the survey of 206 domestic and foreign investors into Quang Ninh province, including representatives of the Board of Directors, members, and management representatives at the department level, with reliable tools (SPSS 26 and SmartPLS 3.0 software). The research results identified the following factors affecting investment into Quang Ninh: FDI attraction policies have the strongest impact on the investors’ FDI intentions; it is followed by infrastructure, public services and human capital with strong effects on intentions of investors’ FDI; and finally the standards of living that affects the investors’ FDI intentions. There is also a positive relationship between all the factors and the investors’ FDI intentions. Several recommendations are further suggested to enhance attraction of foreign direct investment into Quang Ninh province.
The Perceived Value of Customers: Antecedents and Its Effect on Word-of-mouth
Phuong-Linh Nguyen,Dinh-Quyet Phan,Thi-Uyen Nguyen People & Global Business Association 2024 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.29 No.1
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the antecedents of the customer's perceived value, including multi-channel integration and brand equity, and the impact of the perceived value on word-of-mouth. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative approach by PLS-SEM was used in the research. This paper conducted a survey of 414 respondents who are customers of retail firms in Vietnam. Findings: The research results illustrate the significant impact of multi-channel integration and brand equity on the perceived value of customers. The study also found that word-of-mouth is directly and positively influenced by the customer's perceived value. Research limitations/implications: Besides multi-channel integration and brand equity, other factors that may act as antecedents of the perceived value have not been recognized in the study. The study only focuses on the retail industry with a relatively small sample size which is a limitation of the sample representative. Originality/value: This study provides reliable evidence about the important role of building an integrated multi- channel system and nurturing brand equity to increase the perceived value in customer's minds. Additionally, the research reinforces the convincing evidence of the significant and positive relationship between the customer's perceived value and their positive word-of-mouth communication.
