Background/Aims: The safety of gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in users of a P2Y12 receptor antagonist (P2Y12RA) under current guidelines has not been verified. Methods: Patients treated by gastric ESD at Okayama University Hospital between January 2013 and December 2020 were registered. The postoperative bleeding rates of patients (group A) who did not receive any antithrombotic drugs; patients (group B) receiving aspirin or cilostazol monotherapy; and P2Y12RA users (group C) those on including monotherapy or dual antiplatelet therapy were compared. The risk factors for post-ESD bleeding were examined in a multivariate analysis of patient background, tumor factors, and antithrombotic drug management. Results: Ultimately, 1,036 lesions (847 patients) were enrolled. The bleeding rates of group B and C were significantly higher than that of group A (p=0.012 and p<0.001, respectively), but there was no significant difference between group B and C (p=0.11). The postoperative bleeding rate was significantly higher in dual antiplatelet therapy than in P2Y12RA monotherapy (p=0.014). In multivariate analysis, tumor diameter ≥12 mm (odds ratio [OR], 4.30; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.99 to 9.31), anticoagulant use (OR, 4.03; 95% CI, 1.64 to 9.86), and P2Y12RA use (OR, 3.40; 95% CI, 1.07 to 10.70) were significant risk factors for postoperative bleeding. Conclusions: P2Y12RA use is a risk factor for postoperative bleeding in patients who undergo ESD even if receiving drug management according to guidelines. Dual antiplatelet therapy carries a higher risk of bleeding than monotherapy.

The objectives of the present study were to evaluate theanatomic localization of porcine reproductive andrespiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) in naturally infectedpigs and to determine whether oral fluid could be used todetect the virus in infected animals. Two sows, seven2-month-old grower pigs, and 70 6-month-old gilts wereincluded in this study. PRRSV in sera and oral fluid wereidentified by nested reverse transcription PCR (nRT-PCR)while lung, tonsil, and tissue associated with oral cavity weresubjected to nRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and in situhybridization. In sows, PRRSV was identified in oral fluidand tonsils. PRRSV was also detected in oral fluid, tonsils, salivary glands, oral mucosa, and lungs of all seven growerpigs. However, viremia was observed in only two growerpigs. Double staining revealed that PRRSV was distributedin macrophages within and adjacent to the tonsillar cryptepithelium. In gilts, the North American type PRRSV fieldstrain was detected 3 to 8 weeks after introducing theseanimals onto the farm. These results confirm previousfindings that PRRSV primarily replicates in tonsils and isthen shed into oral fluid. Therefore, oral fluid sampling maybe effective for the surveillance of PRRSV in breeding herds.
Tele-robotics in Agriculture - Tomato Harvesting Experiment -
Monta, Mitsuji,Kobayashi, Koji,Hirai, Takuya,Namba, Kazuhiko,Nishi, Takao Korean Society for Agricultural Machinery 2005 Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Vol.6 No.2
In this study, tele-robotics was researched to actualize robots in agriculture. The robot system consisted of a data collecting robot, several robots that performed their own agricultural operations, a server, client computers and networks between robots and computers. In this paper, as a first step, harvesting experiments were carried out. From the results, it was observed that the tele-robotics had feasibility to propel the robotization in agriculture. The tele-robotics has advantages not only that human workers are released from the severe working environment but also that the greenhouse can be monitored and controlled anytime and anywhere.

Background: Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) is a multifunctional cellular protein and playing a role as a central mediator in tissue remodeling and fibrosis. The physiological function of CTGF in psoriasis is unknown. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the function of CTGF in psoriasis using the established imiquimod (IMQ)- induced psoriasis murine model and psoriasis patients. Methods: Anti-CTGF monoclonal antibody was applied to IMQ induced psoriasis mice and those skin were clinically, pathologically and immunologically analyzed. Additionally, CTGF expression was analyzes using skin samples and plasma from psoriasis patients. Results: CTGF expression was observed in the dermis from both IMQ-induced psoriatic mice and psoriasis patients. CTGF inhibition using an anti-CTGF antibody slightly worsened IMQ-induced dermatitis. In addition, the increase of CTGF showed tendency to suppress the psoriatic dermatitis through inhibition of suprabasal cells proliferation and macrophage infiltration in the skin. CTGF was also detected significantly higher in plasma from psoriasis patients comparing with healthy control. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that CTGF could contribute to the healing rather than the worsening of psoriasis skin lesions. (Ann Dermatol 30(1) 47∼53, 2018)
