General Characteristics of Korean Propolis

The propolis was collected from the whole part of Korea Peninsula, such as central, southern, and Jeju island, to analyze the general composition including total flavonoid and phenolic contents, heavy metals, colors, amino acids, and crude lipid. The total flavonoid and phenolic contents of middle region in Korea Peninsula (4.26% and 13.06 g/100 g gallic acid) were higher than southern region (2.53%, 10.9 g/100 g gallic acid) and Jeju island (0.03%, 7.22g/100 g gallic acid), respectively. The heavy metals contents showed that Zn contents were found in $0.44{\pm}0.2ppm$ and a harmful heavy metal such as Cr, Cd, Pb, Ni, Cu, As, and Hg were not detected at all in our experiment. The colors of extracted propolis showed a various spectrum from yellow to red purple. Various amino acids were also detected as proline, valine, methionine and the average crude lipid contents of propolis were 42.4%. All data collected in South Korea were very first executed in our institution for the purposes of utilizing and developing the industrial insects, honeybees as well as silkworm.
The Design and Implementation of Shooting Game using Visual Basic

The purpose of this study is to investigate and suggest nonviolent, emotionally and helpful games for young people. In this paper, the digital animation, advantages, disadvantages, production process, etc. for overseas trends were defined. Also, creating games with the Visual Basic language in the animated feature of the disadvantages of existing algorithms shows case and screen time, so delayed distortion appears respectively. The proposed algorithm improves the speed and distortion through the screen. Simply two games of in-game animation and animation in complex game features were designed for the experiment and showed the superiority of the proposed algorithm by running. In this paper, the user interface of the game for children and proposed relevant algorithms were designed and resultant screens of the game showed. Most of contemporary games are violent to children. Therefore, in order to solve such problems, the game which is not violent but educative and child-friendly was designed and implemented in this paper. The future study on the game with a more in-depth is needed for animation techniques.

본 논문에서는 컴퓨터게임에서 기존에 나와 있는 사다리 타기 게임을 보다 확장하여 12명이 한꺼번에 동시에 사다리 타기 게임을 할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 기존에 나와 있는 사다리 타기 게임은 보통 10명이 동시에 처리할 수 있도록 설계되어 있다. 본 게임 설계에서는 기존에 나와 있지 않은 여러 가지 기능을 추가하고, 12명이 동시에 사다리 타기 게임을 할 수 있도록 하기 위해 설계하였다. 게임에 대한 용어 설명과 사다리 타기 게임에 대한 설명과 기본적인 원리를 살펴보았고, 기존의 사다리 타기 게임을 분석하여 보완된 사다리 타기 게임을 설계 구현하였다. 전체 화면에 대한 객체 설계와 구현된 게임에 대한 화면에 대한 내용도 살펴보았으며, 구현된 게임의 장점을 나열하였고, 향후 발전방향에 대하여 논하였다. This ladder rejection game is different from the existing game in terms of design, functions, and contents of the screen. This paper contains six specific explanations about the supplemented ladder rejection game. First, the design of this ladder rejection game extended fundamental principles of the existing game and added new diverse functions. Therefore, 12 people can play this game at the same time. Actually, the existing ladder game was designed for 10 people. Second, this supplemented ladder rejection game was designed after the existing game was analyzed. Third, the contents of the screen and the game which is embodied with object design of the whole screen were examined. Fourth, terminology and fundamental principles of this game was explained. Fifth, strong points of the game were listed. Sixth, the direction of the game development in the future was argued.

The eight combined products composed of ranitidine·HCI, tripotassium dicitrato bismuthate and sucralfate were prepared with various ratios and studied in therapeutic effects of them on various gastrointestinal diseases, These were induced in rats with the pyrous ligation, ethanol-HCl, acetic acid and cysteamine method, etc. In all experimental setting, the effect of the combined treating was more pronounced than the effect. of each drug alone. Specially, the combined treatment consisted of ranitidine : tripotassium dicitrato bismuthate : sucralfate ratio of 1.5 : 2 : 6 showed the most powerful therapeutic effect on acute gastric ulcer model and revealed a significant acceleration of the healing on chronic gastroduodenal ulcer model. And that, therapeutic doses of ranitidine, tripotassium dicitrato bismuthate and sucralfate given in combination had an additive or, in some case, synergistic effect. From the above results, this combined treatment may useful to heal the gastrointestinal diseases that aren`t cured well by treatment of each them alone.

Resveratrol is a stilbenoid and phytoalexin produced in response to stresses, such as wounding, and pathogen attacks by bacteria or fungi. Two resveratrol rice lines, Iksan515 and Iksan526, were used to examine resistance against Korean pathogen races for bacterial blight, leaf blast, and brown leaf spot. The screening test for bacterial blight demonstrated an increased susceptibility of both transgenic lines to K1 race, and a more susceptible Iksan515 to K2. Phenotypic evaluation for resistance to brown leaf spot also revealed the susceptibility of Iksan526 to the disease which did not significantly differ from the is ogenic variety ‘Dongjin’, and a slightly more susceptible Iksan515 to the disease compared to check. When the lines were screened with three races (KJ301, KJ101 and KJ133) of leaf blasts in the field, both transgenic lines exhibited resistance but at the same level with ‘Dongjin’. Our overall findings suggest that foreign phytoalexin resveratrol production in transgenic rice lines transformed with resveratrol synthase gene did not confer resistance against fungal and bacterial diseases.

N/A Background: Pulsed radiofrequency (RF) lesioning is a painless procedure and causes no neurodestruction and neuritis-like reaction are common following conventional RF lesioning. There is little data about the effect of pulsed RF especially with regard to its suitability for the treatment of acute pain. The possibility of a placebo effect cannot be ruled out because a double-blind study was not performed in previous studies. There is also no neuropathologic study about pulsed RF. Methods: The rats were anesthetized with sodium pentobarbital (40 mg/kg, i.p.; supplemented as necessary). The common sciatic nerve was exposed by blunt dissection through biceps femoris. Pulsed RF was administered to the common sciatic nerve using a 30 ms/s pulse with for 120 seconds. The temperature reached was no more than 42℃. Analgesia was determined using hot-plate assay shortly and, 3 days and 1 week before, and 2 weeks after operation. Lesions were examined with LM (light microscope) and EM (electron microscope) 2 weeks later. Results: There were no differences in response latencies between the control and experimental group. There were many vacuoles with hyaline bodies in the Schwann cell cytoplasm rather than axon in LM and larger electron dense bodies. No changes were found in the axon or unmyelinated fibers. Only small changes were found in the sheaths of myelinated fibers and Schwann cells. Conclusions: We therefore do think that any analgesic effect of pulsed RF is not a result of block of neural conduction. But rather than it can be attributed to others factors. It was also ineffective as a treatment for acute pain such as that caused by the hot-plate test.
