Protein-Directed Synthesis of γ-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles and Their Magnetic Properties Investigation

Soleyman, Rouhollah,Pourjavadi, Ali,Masoud, Nazila,Varamesh, Akbar,Sattari, Abolfazl Korean Chemical Society 2014 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.35 No.5

In this study, maghemite (${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$) nanoparticles were produced using gelatin protein as an effective mediator. Size, shape, surface morphology and magnetic properties of the prepared ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles were characterized using XRD, FT-IR, TEM, SEM and VSM data. The effects of furnace temperature and time of heating together with the amount of gelatin on the produced gelatin-$Fe_3O_4$ nanocomposite were examined to prove the fundamental effect of gelatin; both as a capping agent in the nanoscale synthesis and as the director of the spinel ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$ synthesis among possible $Fe_2O_3$ crystalline structures.

      • in vitro Assessment of Antineoplastic Effects of Deuterium Depleted Water

        Soleyman-Jahi, Saeed,Zendehdel, Kazem,Akbarzadeh, Kambiz,Haddadi, Mahnaz,Amanpour, Saeid,Muhammadnejad, Samad Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.5

Background: In vitro, in vivo and clinical studies have demonstrated anti-cancer effects of deuterium depleted water (DDW). The nature of this agents action, cytotoxic or cytostatic, remains to be elucidated. We here aimed to address the point by examining effects on different cell lines. Materials and Methods: 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) -based cytotoxicity analysis was conducted for human breast, stomach, colon, prostate cancer and glioblastoma multiforme cell lines as well as human dermal fibroblasts. The cell lines were treated with decreasing deuterium concentrations of DDW alone, paclitaxel alone and both. One way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for statistical analysis. Results: Treatment with different deuterium concentrations of DDW alone did not impose any significant inhibitory effects on growth of cell lines. Paclitaxel significantly decreased the survival fractions of all cell lines. DDW augmented paclitaxel inhibitory effects on breast, prostate, stomach cancer and glioblastoma cell lines, with influence being more pronounced in breast and prostate cases. Conclusions: DDW per se does not appear to have inhibitory effects on the assessed tumor cell lines as well as normal fibroblasts. As an adjuvant, however, DDW augmented inhibitory effects of paclitaxel and thus it could be considered as an adjuvant to conventional anticancer agents in future trials.

Novel Superabsorbent Hydrogel Based on Natural Hybrid Backbone: Optimized Synthesis and its Swelling Behavior

Pourjavadi, Ali,Soleyman, Rouhollah,Bardajee, Ghasem Rezanejade,Ghavami, Somayeh Korean Chemical Society 2009 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.30 No.11

The synthesis of a novel superabsorbent hydrogel with natural hybrid backbone via graft copolymerization of acrylamide (AAm) onto kappa-carrageenan (kC, as a polysaccharide) and gelatin (as a protein) under classic thermal conditions is described. The Taguchi method as a strong experimental design tool was used for synthesis optimization. A series of hydrogels were synthesized by proposed conditions of Qualitek-4 Software. Considering the results of 9 trials according to analysis of variance (ANOVA), optimum conditions were proposed. The swelling behavior of optimum hydrogel was measured in various solutions with pH values ranging from 1 to 13. In addition, swelling kinetics, swelling in various organic solvents, various salt solutions and On–Off switching behavior were investigated. The hydrogel formation was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA). Surface morphology of the synthesized hydrogels was assessed by scanning electron microscope (SEM).

A Fuzzy Approach for Measuring Project Performance Based on Relative Preference Relation

        Alireza Ghanbari,Houshang Taghizadeh,Soleyman Iranzadeh 대한산업공학회 2017 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.16 No.4

Earned Duration Management (EDM) is the most recent methodology for project management that unlike former techniques, measures project performance using time-based data, In contrast to former techniques. This difference generates more realistic consequences in performance estimation and measurement. The novel approach which has been proposed in this paper aims to measure project performance by applying EDM techniques under uncertain conditions based on fuzzy theory. In this regard, we applied linguistic terms to express activities’ progress and developed EDM metrics to fuzzy performance and estimation indices which are capable of measuring performance under uncertain condition. In order to rank fuzzy numbers, a new method based on relative preference relation has been used, which has been clarified by a real sample case in road construction projects.

Changes in Synaptic Transmission and Long-term Potentiation Induction as a Possible Mechanism for Learning Disability in an Animal Model of Multiple Sclerosis

        Ghasem Mosayebi,Mohammad Reza Soleyman,Mostafa khalili,Masoumeh Mosleh,Mohammad Reza Palizvan 대한배뇨장애요실금학회 2016 International Neurourology Journal Vol.20 No.1

Purpose: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. It has been shown that memory deficits is common in patients with MS. Recent studies using experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) as an animal model of MS have shown that indicated that EAE causes hippocampal-dependent impairment in learning and memory. Thus far, there have been no in vivo electrophysiological reports describing synaptic transmission in EAE animals. The aim of the present work is to evaluate the synaptic changes in the CA1 region of the hippocampus of EAE rats. Methods: To evaluate changes in synaptic transmission in the CA1 region of the hippocampus of EAE rats, field excitatory postsynaptic potentials (fEPSPs) from the stratum radiatum of CA1 neurons, were recorded following Schaffer collateral stimulation. Results: The results showed that EAE causes deficits in synaptic transmission and long-term potentiation (LTP) in the hippocampus. In addition, paired-pulse index with a 120 msec interstimulus interval was decreased in the EAE group. These findings indicate that EAE might induce suppression in synaptic transmission and LTP by increasing the inhibitory effect of GABAB receptors on the glutamate-mediated EPSP. Conclusions: In conclusion, influence of inflammation-triggered mechanisms on synaptic transmission may explain the negative effect of EAE on learning abilities in rats.

Comprehensive Model of Sustainable Production Development through a Transition from Industrial Production Towards Ecological Production

Mohammad ali Shariat,Soleyman Iranzadeh,Alireza Bafandeh Zendeh 대한산업공학회 2017 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.16 No.4

In recent decades, there has been substantial environmental pressure on manufacturing companies for predict the economic benefits of their processes and products and assessing the environmental and social effects of their performance. As a result, promotion of production processes and products by preserving the social, economic, and environmental benefits has become one of the objectives of most companies. This demand has also directly pursued by customers who wish their products to be built in a sustainable manner. Therefore, this has caused manufacturing companies around the world face a new challenge of maintaining their competitive position in the market by developing and implementing sustainable production practices and tools and pursue sustainable development aiming at social, economic, and environmental issues in the process of development. The concept of sustainable production, closely associated with sustainable development, was firstly proposed in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992. In this conference, it was concluded that the main cause of environmental destruction is the unsustainable pattern of production and consumption, especially in industrial countries. Whereas sustainable consumption is targeted at consumers, sustainable production deals with companies and organizations producing goods or providing services. Focusing on business sustainability, the present paper aimed to identify dimensions of sustainable production with an ecological approach from the perspective of managers of successful industrial companies in Semnan Province, Iran and then propose a model of sustainable production. To this end, 33 successful managers in this province with at least 5 years of continuous activity were interviewed using the repertory grid technique and 33 personal repertory grids were developed. In addition, a total of 175 initial personal constructs of sustainable production were identified. Finally, through the analysis of these constructs, the collective grid of sustainable production consisting of 87 secondary constructs in 11 sections was plotted. These constructs were analyzed and classified using cluster analysis in SPSS and finally a model of sustainable production with 11 pillars and 87 constructs in 4 sections was developed.
