Cleft lip is a kind of congenital facial morphological abnormality. In the clinical field of cleft lip, it is necessary to analyze symmetric shape. However, there is no method to analyze the cleft lip technique based on symmetrical viewpoints. On the other hand, in our previous method to find a symmetric axis using a 2D image, since the middle line is extracted only from the front view of the face moire image. There was a problem that low accuracy was obtained by slight rotation of the face and it was not possible to consider 3D information. In this paper, we propose a method to extract the median plane of the face by analyzing based on bilateral symmetry by using 3D point cloud on the face of front. By extracting the median plane, we believe that not only surgical assistance of doctor be possible but also become a clue to development of simulation software which is the end goal.

About 4% of babies in Japan suffer from congenital anomalies. Cleft lip is the most common disorder among external malformations occurring at a rate of 1 in 500 people. The goal of treatment is to recover symmetric and functional lips and nose forms. However, in the case of unilateral cleft lip where the lips and nose themselves are shifted from the midline of the face, it is difficult to set the midline which is the symmetry axis for evaluating the degree of symmetry of the face. In this paper, we propose an image processing method for extracting the midline using zebra image and shadow image which are two dimensional image created based on three dimensional analysis. Also, we evaluate the degree of asymmetry of the face by using the midline as the axis. As a result of applying the proposed method to 25 cases, which indicated that the proposed method is useful.
Archetype Model-Driven Development Framework for EHR Web System
Shinji Kobayashi,Eizen Kimura,Ken Ishihara 대한의료정보학회 2013 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.19 No.4
Objectives: This article describes the Web application framework for Electronic Health Records (EHRs) we have developed to reduce construction costs for EHR sytems. Methods: The openEHR project has developed clinical model driven architecture for future-proof interoperable EHR systems. This project provides the specifications to standardize clinical domain model implementations, upon which the ISO/CEN 13606 standards are based. The reference implementation has been formally described in Eiffel. Moreover C# and Java implementations have been developed as reference. While scripting languages had been more popular because of their higher efficiency and faster development in recent years, they had not been involved in the openEHR implementations. From 2007, we have used the Ruby language and Ruby on Rails (RoR) as an agile development platform to implement EHR systems, which is in conformity with the openEHR specifications. Results: We implemented almost all of the specifications, the Archetype Definition Language parser, and RoR scaffold generator from archetype. Although some problems have emerged, most of them have been resolved. Conclusions: We have provided an agile EHR Web framework, which can build up Web systems from archetype models using RoR. The feasibility of the archetype model to provide semantic interoperability of EHRs has been demonstrated and we have verified that that it is suitable for the construction of EHR systems.
Analysis and Accuracy Improvement for Perceptron-based Branch Prediction Method
Jiajing Liu,Shinji Kimura 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7
In the modern microarchitecture, high accuracy of branch predictors is essential for improving the overall performance of the processors. With the emergence of the Perceptron-based predictors, prediction based on long global branch history becomes possible, and this advantage gives this type of strategies much potential in achieving extremely high prediction accuracy. This paper devises two methods to obtain further accuracy improvement through slight modifications on the original structure, and presents the analysis of the limitation of indexing function refinement on Perceptron-based branch predictor. The performance of the two methods and the limitation analysis are evaluated with the championship branch prediction framework.
Endoscopic Management of Nonvariceal Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding: State of the Art
Naoki Muguruma,Shinji Kitamura,Tetsuo Kimura,Hiroshi Miyamoto,Tetsuji Takayama 대한소화기내시경학회 2015 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.48 No.2
Nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is one of the most common reasons for hospitalization and a major cause of morbidityand mortality worldwide. Recently developed endoscopic devices and supporting apparatuses can achieve endoscopic hemostasis withgreater safety and efficiency. With these advancements in technology and technique, gastroenterologists should have no concerns regardingthe management of acute upper GI bleeding, provided that they are well prepared and trained. However, when endoscopic hemostasisfails, endoscopy should not be continued. Rather, endoscopists should refer patients to radiologists and surgeons without anydelay for evaluation regarding the appropriateness of emergency interventional radiology or surgery. Modification Bit Detection in Configuration Data for Atom Switch based FPGA
Mingxin Huang,Shinji Kimura 대한전자공학회 2015 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2015 No.6
From the point of view of the power and area, atom switch based FPGA is promising, but there exists the limitation on the number of changes of on/off status in atom switch and the reduction of toggles of status is very important. In the paper, a reduction of toggles in the configuration step of atom switch based FPGA with bit-wise write control mechanism is proposed. At first, current status is checked and the same status bit in configuration data will be omitted for write, then don’t-care bits in configuration data are analyzed and also omitted. At last, there remain only necessary modification bits to write in configuration data.
Twin Rectal Tonsils Mimicking Carcinoid or Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma
Masanori Takehara,Naoki Muguruma,Shinji Kitamura,Tetsuo Kimura,Koichi Okamoto,Hiroshi Miyamoto,Yoshimi Bando,Tetsuji Takayama 대한소화기내시경학회 2017 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.50 No.5
The rectal tonsil is a rare polypoid lesion exclusively found in the rectum and is considered a reactive proliferation of the lymphoid tissue. Although this lesion is benign, we recommend that it should be differentiated from carcinoid or polypoid type of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas, based on gross findings. In this case report, we describe a case of rectal lesions with a unique appearance in a 41-year-old man. Colonoscopy revealed two 5-mm-sized nodules located opposite from each other on the left and right sides of the lower rectum. Endoscopic mucosal resection was conducted. Histopathologically, both lesions were mainly located in the submucosa and consisted of prominent lymphoid follicles with germinal centers of various sizes. No immunoreactivity of Bcl-2 was seen in the germinal centers. Immunohistochemical staining for kappa and lambda light chains revealed a polyclonal pattern. Therefore, these lesions were diagnosed as rectal tonsils.
