FutureSteelVehicle’s (FSV) objective is to develop detailed design concepts for a radically different steel body structure for a compact Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). It also will identify structure changes to accommodate larger Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and Fuel Cell (FCEV) vehicle variants. The paper will demonstrate optimization of seven structural sub-systems that contribute to the programme’s 35 percent mass reduction goals and meet its safety and life cycle emissions targets. It will explain the state-of-the-future advanced design optimization process used and a new paradigm for selecting the best structural solutions for a Battery Electric Vehicle. Put Abstract here. 본 연구에서는 상용 폴리실리콘 제조공정 중 삼염화실란 정제공정에 사용되는 증류탑에 대해 분리벽형 증류탑을 적용하는 방안을 제안하였다. 상용 전산모사 프로그램(HYSYS)을 통해 기존의 단순 증류탑을 사용한 정제공정과 분리벽형 증류탑으로 대체한 공정을 각각 전산모사 하여 같은 순도와 수율로 삼염화실리콘을 정제할 때 증류탑에서 소모되는 에너지와 투자비용 효과를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 분리벽형 증류탑을 적용한 정제공정이 기존 정제공정에 비해 약 61%의 에너지 절감 효과와 58%의 투자비용 절감효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. In this study, we suggest the application of the divided-wall column (DWC) to the existing trichlorosilane(TCS) purification process in the commercial polysilicon manufacturing process. Using Aspen HYSYS V7.1, an extensive simulation study was carried out for the analysis of the energy consumptions and capital cost for the conventional sequential distillation configuration and the DWC for producing a given purity and yield of trichlorosilane. As a result, it is shown that the DWC saves the separation energy by 61% and the equipment cost by 58% compared with the conventional distillation process.

Analytical Design of Robust Multi-loop PI Controller for Multivariable Processes

In this paper, the robust design of the multi-loop PI controller for multivariable processes in the presence of the multiplicative input uncertainty is proposed. The paper deals with two major steps: as a first step, the analytical tuning rules of the multi-loop PI controller are derived from the basis of the generalized IMC-PID approach. Then, in the second step, the robust analysis is utilized for enhancing the robustness of the proposed PI control system. The most important feature of the proposed method is that the tradeoffs between the robust stability and performance can be established by adjusting only one design parameter (i.e., closed-loop time constant) via the structured singular value synthesis. To verify the superiority of the proposed method, two illustrative examples taken from previous works are included. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method provides the superior performance over several well-known methods in both nominal and robust cases.

WorldAutoSteel launched Phase 2 of its FutureSteelVehicle program with the aim to show automakers how latest and future steel grades & technologies can provide light body structures for electrified vehicles. The objective was to develop detailed design concepts and fully optimise a radically different steel body structure for a compact battery electric vehicle in production in the 2015-2020 timeframe. This paper discloses the final outcomes of the Phase 2 development, detailing steel body structure concepts for the aforementioned vehicles that achieved the aggressive mass target of 190 ㎏, while meeting 2015-2020 crash performance objectives as well as total life cycle greenhouse gas emissions targets, NVH and stiffness. This is achieved using advanced & ultra high-strength steels, engineering design optimization and advanced steel technologies.

Light Duty Vehicles (LDVs) CO<sub>2</sub> emission or Fuel Efficiency (FE) have been regulated as Corporate Average Sales Emissions since 2009 in Korea. Car manufacturer selected CO<sub>2</sub> or FE every year and submit the sales volume and CO<sub>2</sub> results by model of the year to Ministry of environment until March next year. Fourteen of the nineteen car manufacturers have been passed the CO<sub>2</sub> levels of the year in 2017. However, all manufacturer are not penalized in 2017. Because, they have already met the limit of CO<sub>2</sub> three years ago. That results have been valid for three years. So they have enough CO<sub>2</sub> surplus of results. But almost car manufacturer will be expected to hardly pass CO<sub>2</sub> target level in 2020. That time CO<sub>2</sub> target is 97g/km. So manufacturer needs a strategy to achieve the target.
